Well... Imo, it's CHUG, it looks stylized and it's too simple / have a small part count. But Feral Rex as dated as he is I think he still looks the part, just not the best.

Individual bots are pretty much MP-scale, combined mode is about right for CHUG.

I think this may be one of those figures that "Chugsterpiece" was invented for.

(though personally I consider it MP) (but I consider MP to be a style, not a scale)

It can be whatever you want it to be.

The individual robots are, as said by others, pretty much the size they should be for MP and much too large for CHUG. Since toys can't mass shift (in general -- I still suspect DX9 Rodimus of sneaking it in somehow), the combiner will never be bigger than the sum of its parts, unless there's massive partsforming. Thus the Combiner mode is too small for a MP collection -- that is, if you go by the cartoon sizes: in Marvel Combiners were less massive, but still when Megatron fought Predacon the latter was bigger in comparison than the MMC one.

But no matter what era, the animation model was an important element for the MP designs. And the MMC set is very much a more modern interpretation than a recreation of the original animation model.

But if you want to use it for a MP collection, your collection your rules. I used them as such for the longest time (because MP to me is about being the best possible recreation of a figure, and not the most cartoon accurate). And these are very solid, well made figures that are and feel high quality.

“CHUG,” I think is a outdated word.

The individual bots are voyager sized. They are not “MP scaled” nor “MP” styled.

If say, FansToys (or XTB), for example, made a MP Feral Rex; it would very likely match the scale chart much much better, their designs would be slavishly G1/198X and the combined mode would be the size/height of their Superion/Menasor(‘s).

As it stands, the combined mode is about the same height as TFC’s Hercules, Superion, TFM/GT/Warbotron Bruticus, etc etc - all very much voyager sized combiners.

    Hope this helped!

It’s sturdy, has an original design, and is fun as hell. Therefore, it is CHUG.

It’s not slavishly toon-accurate, it’s not fragile or fussy, and it’s not meant for display only. Therefore, it’s not MP.

When you stand it next to a Zeta Toys combiner, it just doesnt feel very MP. As someone stated, individually they are MP sized, combined more CHUG or Legends;) . There is always the WJ OS version or Cang Toys if you want bigger!

I'm just starting to get into 3rd party combiners, can someone please tell me the differences between MMC Feral Rex and the Jinbao oversized KO? Thank you!

    Quality.

Jinbao's version is the knockoff and it lacks the depth of detail.
It does have the benefit of size though.
I've got the original and always liked it as a good representation of Predaking without going crazy over scale and what not.

Just got this set. Yeah, I'm a few years behind. But that gets me the patience discount!

Does anyone know if the large gun for Leo Dux/Razorclaw that ships with Tigris can mount on Leo Dux anywhere in alt mode? Also what's up with with the little tab that can swivel?

IIRC, the tab you're likely talking about is for mounting it on Tigris in alt-mode. There's two little slots near his tail that it plugs into. The weapon doesn't plug into Leo Dux.

It plugs into his back. There's four ports for it. It just doesn't plug in in a satisfying way.

    Am I missing something?

I've had Oversized Feral Rex for some time and he was always more than a head shorter than Combiner Wars Devastator. But now I'm seeing photos where he's just a tad shorter than Devastator - closer to the same scale.

They probably extended the legs on Razorclaw in combined mode to give him the extra height.

You mean the one around Leodux's waist? Its the attachment point for the back half of the combined mode crotchplate.

That would give him super tiny arms and a tiny upper body. Some toys are just meant to be CHUG...
