PS5 and XSX around slated for the end of this year, and it's time for a new, well made, AAA Transformers game. WFC/FOC came out nearly a decade ago, and bar a few subpar mobile games and the decent Devastation, we have no good, much less fantastic, Transformers games. If one were to come out in the next few years for the new consules, I feel like an open wotld game would be the best fit for Transformers.

What are your thoughts and ideas ?

    Definitely.
I think it could play off the DS Transformers games as a reference, but expanded and overhauled.

I will continue to post this idea until a good developer finally sees it and makes it a reality.

Open world, Action RPG set on pre-war Cybertron. Player character get's wrapped up in events that ultimately lead to the start of the war. Player would then have to choose between supporting Autobots or Decepticons or remaining neutral around 50-75% through the main campaign. Game would end with either the Aubobots escaping the planet, or the Cons conquering it, depending on player choices.

Character creation would be fully customizable. Player would chose base design for alt-mode (ground vehicle, air vehicle, military vehicle, etc.). Players could then fully customize their alt mode choice, and a preview would be giving to show the player what their robot mode would look like with these choices. (This entire process could possibly be swapped, with players customizing bot mode first).

Players would get to choose from various classes/abilities/powers. Classes would be along the lines of Soldier, Tank, Scout, Engineer, etc.

Special types of Transformers like Combiners and Triple Changers would be possible. For Combiners, the player would play as the torso bot. Once a day (in game time) the player could call upon his/her teammates to form the Combiner. Time spent in combined form would be dependent on various factors (damage taken, damage dealt, skill level, etc). For Triple Changers, players could transform to both alt modes freely, but each alt mode would come with distinct advantages and disadvantages over the other, so that the player would have to use each mode wisely.\

Each class would have a skill tree not unlike Skyrim, with special perks being available at certain levels.

I won't be excited for a Transformers game until this happens.

Absolutely. The 2007 movie game and its DS ports are some of my favorite TF and movie-licensed games. Having a GTA-style TF game would be sick on new consoles.

Or an open world game set on Cybertron would be fire too. Roaming around sci-fi cities as an Autobot or Decepticon...

Hell, yeah. I'd love something multiplayer-ish like The Division.

Big open, world. Set on Cybertron. Totally custom characters. The character customization could be endless.

I'm an inspiring video game developer. A TF game is my dream project. I'm posting in this thread on the off chance that it'll become relevant at any point in the future lol

I Definitely would love an open world transformers game, possibly, like the 07 DS game with the ability to reformat the character into different vehicle forms.

I always thought it would be neat to have an open-world game where the aspect of disguise is a key part of the gameplay. Like, you'd have to scan different alternate forms for different missions. You can't drive a tank down main street, and you can't drive a sports car into a military base. You'd have to choose an appropriate alternate form for each objective. Alternate modes could be limited to things around the size of the character (someone playing a smaller Transformer would have to turn into something smaller).

Maybe the game starts with your character landing on Earth as a blank "Protoform-like" template. Throughout the game, your character could form an identity and a proper design by assimilating design traits from all the various alternate modes that it scans. Combine that with a bit of customization, and you could have a really cool world where everyone's characters are diverse and different.

Obviously that would be a lot of complex stuff to program, and something like that will probably never happen (at least in the current climate of the brand). But that would be a super fun Transformers game.

Not a huge fan of the open world trend - it usually means lots of wide open spaces with nothing to do in them. I prefer the idea of arenas, or islands like Fortnite's. Give me that, the vehicle-to-robot mechanics of Devastation, a truly wide range of characters and missions, and decent combat, and you're laughing.

I've weighed in before But personally I believe Open World is the best Genre for Transformers games, because it allows us to truly appreciate the freedom that comes from the ability to transform into a vehicle.

Totally! It's what TFs needs now. Open world RPG/Action-Adventure game would be the best. Also, with the ability to take the Space Bridge to different planets. In the Mass Effect series, one can go to different planets and systems so it would be similar...but now with current technology, I'm sure we could have a Transformers game with multiple open worlds...literally.

It'd certainly be interesting, say to go to Velocitron for a racing side activity.

Yes. I’ve always thought an open world game would be the best way of really understanding how the layout of different locations on Cybertron is. Where actually is Iacon? Poly hex? The Sea of Rust? Sonic Canyons? I know there have been maps published, but those don’t really cut it for me, plus it seems like a lot of the major locations that are named just have an arrow pointing to a random place that does not look fitting for that location.

Without a shadow of a doubt, yes. Kinda thinking something similar as originally stated by @waflhaus91, would ADORE to see an Action RPG a-la DBZ Kakarot for Transformers. Though while character creation would be cool, i'd personally like to see something more ingrained into the story. While Kakarot retold the story of DBZ as a whole (Keep this game in mind, i'll come back to it a couple times), I think a Transformers game in this style should stay true to whatever story the universe it takes place in. If I had to play Gaming God, here's a breakdown of my ideal Transformers game.

    - Action RPG with a battle system akin to both DBZ Kakarot and Transformers Devastation. Giving options for combo attacks and certain skills to be used. While skills in Kakarot's battle system are used mainly for Dragon Ball's well-known and unique moves such as the Kamehameha and Final Flash, this Transformers game could take skills and have them represent more outlandish attacks and combinations of multiple attacks together as one. A lot of different weapons and accessories could be used as well, mainly the ones usually attributed to characters (ie: Cliffjumper and his Glass Gas Cannon, Jazz's speakers, Megatron's mace, Prime's axe, etc), a skill tree would be used to unlock new skills and upgrade characters. A unique ability could be given to each character, giving them a certain boost during a battle, once a certain threshold has been reached, much like Pokemon abilities. For example, Prime could have an ability that would increase his Attack and Defense once his HP reaches 50% or below. Open world should stretch idealy through all of Cybertron and Earth, though Cybertron should take precedence, should there only be one that's 100% complete.

    - Story based in either the universe of the G1 cartoon or IDW comics, or something very akin to either or, though my rundown will be going over the former. Should the story take the former, i'd like to see something akin to the original first 3 seasons and the movie, and for Season 4 and onward, taking it's own approach rather than completely taking what was done in either Rebirth or The Headmasters, while staying true to the story and the gimmick.

    - Multiple characters to play as through both an Autobot and Decepticon campaign, with some deviating farther than others in terms of playstyle, thanks to certain unique traits such as Ratchet being a medic, having combiner leaders able to combine with their fellow members for a certain amount of time, Triple and Six changers, Cassettes, etc.

    - For each side (not a complete nor definitive list, consider this more of a narrowing down before a final way more narrowed down decision):

Autobots: Optimus, Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, Brawn, Jazz, Wheeljack, Mirage, Sideswipe, Prowl, Bluestreak, Ironhide, Ratchet, Trailbreaker, Skyfire, Inferno, Red Alert, Smokescreen, Blaster, Rewind & Eject, Ramhorn, Perceptor, Grimlock, Ultra Magnus, Hot Rod, Springer, Arcee, Kup, Wheelie, Hot Spot (& Defensor), First Aid, Silverbolt (& Superion), Scattershot (& Computron), Metroplex, Chromedome, Hardhead, Brainstorm, Cerebros (& Fortress Maximus).

Decepticons: Megatron, Starscream, Thundercracker, Skywarp, Soundwave, Ravage, Laserbeak, Frenzy & Rumble, Reflector, Shrapnel, Bombshell, Scrapper (& Devastator), Dirge, Ramjet, Thrust, Onslaught (& Bruticus), Swindle, Astrotrain, Blitzwing, Motormaster (& Menasor), Galvatron, Cyclonus, Scourge, Razorclaw (& Predaking), Hun-Gurr (& Abominus), Trypticon, Mindwipe, Wierdwolf, Skullcruncher, Sixshot & Scorponok.

This is all that I have for now, i'd love to keep going but at the time i'm writing this, time is a thing and work is another, haha. I'll continue with this once I can update it, probably later tonight the earliest.

I would love the pre-war setting, I could imagine travelling to Velocetron to for example get an upgrade for vehicle speed. The DLC's would introduce the player to the war afterwards. A Cyberpunk 2077 type world would just be amazing
