Funny how I brought up not having any recent nextgen TF games in a previous rant 2 days ago...

The delima now is if this is just another button mashing version of TF Devastation with "Muppet Babies" looking transformers the size and rank of Scouts beating up Megatron and Combiners....

If so I'll just go back to occasionally dusting off my PS3 to play WFC in campaign mode.

It is certainly not going to be anything like Devastation.

I wish it was like Devastation, that game was excellent.

While the less games like Devastation, the better, I would take a flashy, empty button-masher over a cheap mobile-on-console cashgrab like this.

Of course I'd prefer an actual non-shit real game most of all.

I'll probably end up getting it, but I wish it was based on Siege WFC

Makes me wish there was still some way to play transformes universe
In an unrelated note, I absolutly hate the current \"TRANSFORMERS\' logo.

As much as I dislike Devastation, I would’ve much rather had a follow up to that rather than...whatever this is.

Most of the comments calling this 'cheap' etc seem to be responding entirely to the aesthetic, which is lifted straight from Cyberverse - like, I don't really see how a Cyberverse game could look any better? I doubt the polygon count is any lower than it was for Devastation - it's just missing the glossy shader.

That said, it looks like a generic X-Com/tactics game, and it's hard to think of an action genre that's more poorly suited to Transformers - everyone standing around waiting for their turn.

Devastation has the best mechanics of any TF game I've played because it lets you really use the speed and impact of vehicle modes while chaining them into both physical and projectile attacks. Another game like that, but with an expanding roster of characters, maps and missions, and better level design, would keep fans happy for years, I reckon.

That would have been a great fit if they really are doing XCOM-like gameplay. You could use COMBAT ports to upgrade/swap weapons between characters, equip characters with Battlemasters, et cetera.

I get that the game doesn't look great, and that the developer specializes in relatively unremarkable licensed games, so I think it's reasonable to have pretty low expectations for the game, but I'm personally going to wait until we see some actual gameplay before I write it off. Mario vs Rabbids also adapted the XCOM formula and simplified it for a younger audience, and it actually turned out pretty decent. Though that was made by a developer with a better track record and lots more money. All I'm saying is that it's *possible* that this might not be terrible... for me, I don't know enough yet to give up on it. That said, I'm far more interested in that Certain Affinity game is, especially if it's meant to complement this one by occupying a different market space/targeting a different demographic.

This is appalling. Both WFC and FOC look graphically superior to this. There is no visual appeal with anything on screen. It’s so boring looking.

Finally the wait is over, the game is revealed and.... oh.... oh no.... this looks bad. Really bad. They should've saved the title of Transformers Devastation for this game because this is devastating from start to finish. Graphically this looks like a mobile game and it's using character designs from a now cancelled show. Is this isometric? Over the shoulder? What even is this trying to be?This is an embarrassingly bad showing for a franchise this big. After 5 years, this is what they give us!?! I'm furious at Hasbro's lack of imagination. The best Transformers game ever made was FoC and that released 8 YEARS AGO! My younger self would never have imagined that after such an incredible game that the downward trajectory of quality Transformers games could've been so sharp, so steep and so long between releases. I'm frankly ashamed of you Hasbro.

In Hasbro's eyes, they already made one, Rise of the Dark Spark. It's a shame it wasn't very good...

I do wonder if Transformers: Battlegrounds will end up like Power Rangers Battle for the Grid? Start off with a terrible trailer, but over time, it gets more details about it that makes it look better than initially thought. Then the game releases, the devs patches out the graphics and mechanics over time and gives out free (story mode, characters, etc.) and paid (characters & skins) DLC over the course of the year.

I would like to be excited for this.
if it is a Turn based strategy like x-com I will try it as that is one of my favorite styles of game.
But that trailer is incredibly underwhelming.
