It's a 3-year contract, we aren't even a year in. In my opinion, Looking at the last two Mattel waves and the stuff that Mcfarlane has put out, Todd can have it forever. Sure there have been some stinkers like 1000# Batman, But the Mattle waves were GENUINELY trash and the Mcfarlane stuff has been much better. Though if this is gonna be the Batman line with some extras, you can count me out. I may move over to DC Essentials if I like there Batman when he arrives.
How long was their Star Trek license for? I didn't give a time frame for Mattel's return, only Todd's boredom. I'm positively shocked how many figures he's shown for Batman Multiverse. You're a little all over the place though. It sounds like you don't want Infinite Batman Forever With Occasional Batfriend Cameos. But then you singled out the last two waves of Mattel as bad. Sure, the Alfred wave was basically Batfriends Incorporated, but the Starfire wave was one of the strongest they'd put out in years. Or did you mean the last two waves you saw in stores, which could've been those or Clayface and the WW movie depending on where you lived? Edit: I have to stop. I was watching a blue haired man on YouTube say how rotten fans are for criticizing any decisions made with DC toys and I don't want to lash out at that here.
The difference is DC is a MUCH higher profile brand than Star Trek. Also, someone at AT&T will probably assassinate Toddy Boy if he pulls that shit, they have taken managing DC much closer then before. On my mixed messaging (sorry) I was mainly calling out the last wave which was just Bat characters that were shit. I was talking about figure quality, not the amount of Batman characters. My mistake on the Batman Ninja BAF Wave.
so here's my 2cents, it would've been nice getting 6in figures to pick and choose to continue my collection, however it's been fun picking and choosing these McFarlane figs for custom bases as i'm not a big 7in collector not barring a few outliers from Storm Collectibles that fudge into the major collection and Neca's Preds and Horror collections i started. The biggest thing with those though is none of those 7in collections i have mix in any true capacity with the 6in. Example currently I can have Panthro, Clamp Trap, Black Manta, SE, Darth Vadar, MMPR Green, and Black Panther all fight it out and it wouldn't look crazy or super out of place, and that's where McFarlane IMHO failed. Though i guess i can have his people fight each other, lets try some crazy ideas out brb With that said, the greatest strength in the McFarlane figs is their ability to be pulled apart like no figure has before, you don't really have to boil or blow-dry them much to take them to the basic parts of the figure. That Superman will be turned into Steel and that would fit for me in any 6in scale as I just don't think he should be this tiny same with cyborg in my eyes so I'm hoping McFarlane does a Cyborg
I realize that some people are frustrated with the lack of variety in this line, but honestly I love these the look of these figures. I mean, I have my ICONS/essentials and Mattel lines for classic looking figures, but this is just pure whimsy and I can't help but get sucked in.
A penny saved I guess? How about some comic reps of Hawkman, Aquaman, Green Lantern, Flash, WWoman, ect?
So much for that rumor that Flash was going to be in the next wave. This is what, Wave 6 and we still have no Flash?
I got the DC Essentials versions of Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) and Wonder Woman. Not the ideal scaling I'd like but they mostly look pretty good up against my McFarlane Superman and I managed to get the poses I wanted out of them. .
Guess I'm in the minority of never really liking any of the Multiverse Batmen designs. The only I'd really be interested in was the God of War Batman since that's the closest I'd get to a Perez 80s blue-armored Ares for a modern toy. Gotta watch your hygiene when in the super-heroic business. Did it mainly because I couldn't get a decent traditional crossed arms/bullets and bracelets pose and this is an alternative pose she sometimes does.
Maybe it's just your pic, but Supes is also looking like he's channeling Bruce Campbell a bit. Groovy.
Lol, you gotta love the comments that come out of just random pictures of DC figures. There seems to rarely ever be something that is just plain great without something to make fun of.
