So I scooped up a LG Trypticon back in November when they were dirt cheap and since I’m waiting to continue my other projects I figured that I should get to work on Trypticon into BWII Gigastorm, to go with the Seacons coming this fall. Starting off I fixed the floppy chest panel. It’ll still open and store Full-Tilt but now it can bear extra weight and it’ll need to because I’m giving Gigastorm another drone. But obviously Full-Tilt can’t become a tower anymore, which isn’t a big loss anyway. Next up is the head, his popping up gun gimmick is now fixed in place due to the addition of his horn (Infernocus sword piece) and he is getting another horn on the tip of his nose, a design deviation yes but the translucent orange piece already has sculpted ridges and with my current selection of fodder parts I can’t seem to make anything other than a mohawk. Next thing is sanding, painting and then ordering the reprolabels set plus some Predacon labels.
This was something I was hoping we’d eventually get as an official release so glad to see someone actually make it happen!
Well that’s the confusing thing, he’s not a difficult custom/repaint/remold. A few blue spots, a horn and some black highlights, I’m not fully repainting all that grey but I would’ve for sure thought that someone on Shapeways would’ve at least done the horn. He will one day hopefully. Oh, and here’s why I removed Full-tilt’s tower mode Full-tilt loses his 5mm port but Gigastorm gains a new minion. I think I’ll add a poll for his name. Gotta be have the word Giga in it. Give me your suggestions people.
It seems so, I gave him another minion, a PCC targetmaster I affectionately renamed Gigashot. He just stores on the 5mm port on Gigastorm’s knee. I’ll upload a pic when I get home.
Great idea. Personally I'd pick up an oversized Blackjack and paint him because I don't like the Legends class. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.
Exactly my point. Also the chest panel has to be physically removed in order to access the “belly” but I’ve got plans to make the chest panel become a separate part of the base mode, utilizing Earthrise connectors. Which this Trypticon has been modified to be compatible with. As for the hollow belly...... I’ve got no clue. Well the chest mounted 5mm peg where Blackjack connects can integrate Micromasters and initially that’s what it was going to be before I made the modifications to bear more weight. The idea though was to be Gigastorm’s equivalent of Wipeout (who’s only you was Legends class?) Would an oversized Blackjack still have the 5mm port?
Why do you need to access his belly? And what is his tower mode? Do you have a picture? Or is it just the one below? And if so why doesn't it work anymore? (Sorry, tfw2005, to use a picture of a competitive site but there's no gallery of TR Trypticon in here?)
His tower mode is literally him folded upwards As to why I want belly access, it’ll be a great spot to store accessories for both him and his compatriots (the Seacons Combiner junk) and I want to keep the “Titan master eating gimmick” intact.
I saw that in the wiki it mentions that in one continuity giga storm is used as a pretender armor for Megatron, if I was going in the direction that you are I would use that empty space as a connecting port for the legends class Megatron to plug into
is the full tilt going to be done up like Megastorm with a new head or will it be a repaint of full tilt with a predacon ensignia?
