    Mine just came in! :D
I'll probably post some pics, but before I do that: is there anything that can be done about the neck articulation? Some people seem to have managed to get it to a much larger angle than I can. I remember some post about it in the past, but if anybody could provide me with a link, hint or advice, I'd be very grateful.

I certainly do. But hey, to each their own.

Nice pics. There are shoulder adapters as well. I highly recommend them.. They are made and sold by brother @pezley

I own both, and I'm more disappointed with Hoodlums horrible articulation, horrible neck/ collar situation... the face sucks... except for the Rodimus face, the shoulder articulation sucks.... one must be blind not to see this...you can bitch about the flat chest on MP28/40... but it blows this POS to bits in every other aspect
. Of course in my own opinion so I don't offend the Fanstoys fanboys....

I own both too, I guess I just prioritize proper proportions over his collar and shoulder articulation. Agree to disagree!

    Hotrod proportionally looks like this:

For me, it comes down to who looks better with the rest of the 86' movie cast, and for me that's all FansToys. I actually really love MP28, but he looks tiny standing with Koot, Rouge, Jabber, Apache, Tesla, KFC Blaster, and even Takara Ultra Magnus. Hoodlum just fits in better on the shelf. And no way in hell I'm waiting 20+ years for Takara to do the rest of the 86' cast. :)

Yep. I prefer Hoodlum hands down. Plus FT included the Targetmaster partner so we don't have to double dip on the same mold for that.

I didn't like the way mp28/40 looked, but that's just taste. Articulation has, um, a lot of "room for improvement" (put very politely), but I'm ok with the face. I honestly don't think that there's any answer to that question, what makes you prefer one over the other. Just preference :)

As for MP28 I don't like the fact that there's barely any undercarriage clearance, plastic instead of rubber tires, fading chrome issues among all the other usual issues.

If you want articulation with a mediocre bot mode get the MP. If you want something that looks more like it came out of the screen get FT

    You've answered your own question.

Fanstoys designs their figures in general to a specific goal: to be a collectors item. And if someone wants a collection of high grade looking collectables, with beautiful paint and often good proportions that look accurate to the source material (and diecast for the nostalgic feel and idea that heavier=better)...then Fanstoys is absolutely the way to go. And Hoodlum fills that spot. He looks premium with his proportions and paint (thus the chipping is really bad), with only minor blemishes in his robotmode look.. But his articulation is limited, his transformation isn't that much fun (if only for fear of paint chipping) and the altmode leaves something to be desired.

However, a collector who wants to pick up his figures, pose them differently quite a few time, likes to transform them for an altmode display, and in general just loves to fiddle with them...shouldn't buy Fanstoys. MP-28 may not look as good as Hoodlum (although the paint on the car parts is good), and he may not be as accurate as Hoodlum, but he's got a fun transformation and as long as the ankles hold, he's fun to pose. It's a figure to fiddle with.

EDIT: Doesn't mean either is better. It just means that someone who prefers Hoodlum is likely more interested in a display piece, while someone who (like you, who owns both and) prefers the MP likely prefers to pick up and fiddle with their figures.
