I sincerely apologize, I started this one. I wasn't trying to get negative reactions, just trying to discuss something - and that went off the rails.

    So, um...

I think I'm going to do a re-watch of this series, now that I have the full context of the story.
For my part, I often find that I enjoy and appreciate things more on a second viewing (see also: Legend of Korra, Voltron: Legendary Defender).

I find myself the same way with most media. It’s usually not until the second go-through that I pick up and appreciate many aspects.

I want to do another rewatch soon. I feel like many of the supporting characters like Scorpia, Mermista, and Entrapta ended up being my favorite parts of the show.

also, there are so many great outfits on this show! Catra’s tuxedo radiates so much power.

Honestly Adora's regular outfit is probably one of the best updates to an old design (first thing on that list). And I liked all of the Princess Prom outfits.

So I got up to the fifth episode on the rewatch.
I appreciate that the show still took the time to have fun with the world - I guess it's kind of like Avatar in that sense. Sure there's an ever-looming threat presented by the main antagonists but that's no reason to become totally gloomy (though I'll grant that the Horde soldiers being defeated the way they were by Perfuma's people was kind of too silly. At least she was using crazy plant magic.). Also, I noticed that Keston John's Hordak sounds completely different in the first season than he does later. He doesn't have the vaguely British accent that he does in Season 2 onward.

Haha. It's funny that you made a comparison to Avatar, because my wife started referring to this as She-Ra the Last Airbender after she saw the transformation in S5. :lol

So I'm just about finished rewatching season one, just the last three episodes left.
I think season one is definitely the weakest out of the five - great at introducing characters and concepts but a little all over the place quality wise.

I've seen a lot of people making ATLA comparisons, must have influenced my thoughts a bit.

Finished up with the second season. I skipped over Roll With It since it's probably the most outright filler episode in the entire series.

A lot of the references from the show are pretty fun to spot, such as back in Flowers for She-Ra (itself referencing Flowers for Hordak), where one of the stories Perfuma's people apparently tell of She-Ra is how she slayed the Mantisaur - Hordak's personal mount from the mini-comics and toyline. Gotta feel sorry for Grizzlor, though, being reduced to a glorified cameo. Also, apparently, Mermista's fanfiction version of herself as Sea-Ra is actually referenced in her debut episode, as the First One's writing in her throne room actually translates to "Sea-Ra" and "For the Honor of Gray Whales"; I like to think this is, besides being a wordplay joke, a bit of world building about a Salinean She-Ra. Which would fit in with every kingdom having legends about her.

Honestly, I feel like the show could have gone into the previous She-Ra's a bit more, since it's explained that She-Ra existed before the sword did. Who or what exactly was she? Yeah, yeah, "being of pure magic" is said in Season 5, but there's clearly more to it than that. I guess "Guardian Spirit of Etheria" is all we have to go on.

Just finished the series last night. Just a few points that I have off the top of my head:

    • I really liked She-Ra's outfit for the final season much more than the outfit for the first three seasons.
    • Catra was without question my favorite character in this show.
    • I found this series to be watchable, but not something that I would want to watch over and over again. I think I like it less as a part of the She-Ra franchise. Had it been something original, where I wasn't making comparisons to the original version of She-Ra, I think I would've liked it more.

Going through the fourth season now.
Catra's arc and where it leads is probably one of the best things about the show.

Still wish we got more information about the past She-Ra's, though. Mara is cool but who was the one with the Dragon? Was that supposed to be Mara?

So apparently fans of the series are clamoring for a Season 6/Movie.

Personally I'd take comics that tie up some of the loose ends, like establishing what happens to Hordak and whether or not there's a possibility of being able to save Angella from being trapped in-between dimensions - but a movie would also be good. Especially if Netflix having the rights to MOTU stuff now could mean they could address the matter of Adora's birth family, even if they can't'/won't use He-Man.

Anyway, just about finished on my rewatch, only got the series finale left now. From beginning to end, Catra definitely has the best arc in the show. The final season didn't have nearly enough Rebel Scorpia, though, and I do wish they'd had the time to properly address her and Catra's reunion.

I think a movie could manage to tie up most of the loose ends pretty well. The Princesses could accidentally unleash some dormant autonomous First Ones weapon in the process of freeing Angella from the wormhole. Hordak can finally establish himself as reformed and help fight the weapon. Between Hordak's knowledge from Horde Prime, Adora's connection to She-Ra, and whatever is discovered by investigating the portal and the weapon, Adora also pieces together her origin. Or something like that.

Yeah, I would take this as a movie plot.

Since She-Ra is wearing biker shorts, what's the point of the skirt?

I think mostly just because the original wore a skirt.
But yeah I wasn't really much of a fan of the first She-Ra design in this series, mostly just because of that weird combo. Both the other She-Ra designs that appear are better than Adora's first She-Ra form.

Who are you talking about? Adora and Catra were NEVER an item in the original show. Adora was with Seahawk. Literally no one else was an item in the original show, so please clarify.
