Ouch. Hopefully he can get the car back. I'm not a car guy, but I know restoring an old car takes a lot of time and labor of love.

Yeah, glad he ditched the girlfriend and that the police found the car. Good thing he took lots of pics detailing his tear down and had plenty of evidence. Shame the cops have to hold his care as evidence currently.

Honestly, if I was him, I'd just be glad the car is under lock and key right now and eventually will be returned to him. He's going to have a lot of headaches to deal with in the immediate future dealing with the legal shit that ex is going to pull to try to get out of this.

Did she really think that nothing was going to happen? That he would like, "aaaw, mannnn! That blows. Can I have some more of your mac and cheese?" The amount of stupid that some people exhibit just astounds me...

This whole story reiterates the need to really get to know someone before you even consider moving in with them. Far too many people rush into things these days, confident they know what they're doing...only for stories like this to pop up all over the place.

Wow. What did she think was going to happen? They both coulda talked about it like reasonable adults and made a compromise.

Yikes. Honestly, it’s my opinion that destroying something that major and that dear to your significant other is a form of abuse. Don’t have the energy to articulate why, but I stand by it.

I think it speaks for itself.

I think of it like this: I would never destroy anything that belongs to my girlfriend. It's her stuff, first and foremost, but it's also there because she clearly gives a shit about it or it wouldn't be there. Why would I intentionally destroy or throw out something of hers without telling her, were it not for me being a dick?

And a project car... there's no way you can't know what kind of value that has. The whole reason people do project cars is because they are passionate about it. The way she did it was so disgusting and vindictive.

A good chunk of my time on this website has been spent explaining self-evident things to brainwormed grown men and women who make literal the phrase “wouldn’t know a snake if it bit them”.

....A good chunk of my real-life existence off the internet has been explaining self-evident things to people who, once again, would not know a snake if it bit them.

So. I mean, whether I should have to and whether I will end up doing so anyway are two very different matters.

Yeah; this definitely touches on why....

Y’know, yeah, I’m really not gonna be able to construct a better explanatory diatribe than “disgusting and vindictive”, right now. Those two adjectives about sum it up.

far too much time on the internet has been wasted trying to explain my position to people who read intentions that were never there, interpret things in ways I could never imagine.

Explaining myself is one of my least favorite things... I prefer to avoid it as much as possible. Although in fairness, sometimes I've come across old posts that don't exactly read the way they were written.

That sucks. At least he'll get it back, with any luck. Every time I hear about a classic car getting sent to the junkyard, a little piece of me dies. They don't make them like that anymore.

Maybe he was being a smidge obsessive about the hobby. Or maybe she was too full of herself and her perceived value in the relationship.

    But...

How can anyone think they can hide, or just get away with, getting rid of an expensive car? It's kinda big and, well, expensive... It's rather easy to notice, I'd say.

Jings! And here I thought my wife hiding my new computer until my birthday (six weeks after it arrived) was a bit upsetting (although, at the same time, extremely funny).

It comes from someone feeling self important and thinking they know better than the other person.

My mother did this with many of my toys from when I was a kid, she just gave it away to younger kids or to church groups. Came home from school and they were gone.

I had a lot of playsets like The Voltron Castle, various GI JOE sets, The Thunder Cats Lair and thundertank, The Turtle Van and Blimp. Castle Greyskull etc.

Much of it I wish I still had now. And much of it very expensive to get again.

But she knew better than I did. Or so she told me at the time.

(This is the same woman who swore Nintendo (Original NES) would rot my brain and wouldn't get me one)[Had to save up for a year with my own money to get one, this was at 50 cents a day from doing chores for a neighbor, Christmas and Birthday money etc.} Had to be 6 or 7 at the time.

Her favorite words to this day are should of, could of and would of.

Used to run off to work and lock all the doors to the house before she went but forget to check if my brother or I were playing outside or getting the mail. So I got locked out of the house a bunch as a kid. Learned to break in through unlatched windows after removing the screens. (She got mad at me for bending the screens) Then started latching the windows more often. She'd be even more mad if I went to a neighbor to call her or my father to come home and let us back in the house. I learned to make sure I always had a key before even going out to the mailbox get the mail.

Needless to say I blame many of my anxiety issues on things that happened back then. That she says were my fault if I remind her about them now........

Rarely, my parents still fight with each other about who is right, unless they are visiting your house they are always right. Even then they are probably right unless it's tech related in their minds.
