He is as amazing as I expected. I only wish that rust stain below his left headlight wasn't so glaring. It was much less noticeable on the prototype and definitely not present in the movie. Do ya'll think they're going to tweak that in the next batch?

I know I'm nitpicking pls no hate.

Maybe a new attempt to revitalize a G.I. Joe Movieverse and make a Hasbro Cinematic Universe?

Not really. Just classic 80s guys, roughly in same scale, both high level #2s, and now, both don't speak. :)

I wonder how that large Optimus Figure will scale with this Bumblebee size. They would make for amazing set pieces, for sure.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Travis Knight Bee is a fantastic design. Optimus doesn't seem as solid compared next to it.
On to the figure, it looks great but I've had issues with threezero stuff before. The light-up feature specifically. It lasts about five minutes.

I've had batteries run through before a gallery was done before, but this round they did not. Both heads, chest, and gun - none died before my shoot was over, and those shoots last hours at a time over days. I don't keep on every second, but I do leave on for long stretches during those hours.

RE: Design - agreed on Bee. Prime I like, and think it's best Movie Prime to date - BUT - it still has some weird proportions and angles, as do most of the rest of the Cybertron bots. It's pulling from the movieverse aesthetic. Prime specifically - thighs bigger than boots, thighs angled uneven, shoulders a tad thin compared to forearms and body, midsection is chunky. Blitzwing and the jets have oddly long legs, Soundwave needs slimfast, etc. It's a design choice, but not one I prefer. I'd hope the next round they streamline it back to normal human proportions. The alien-ness is already there, they are giant robots, don't need weird proportions on top.

When I got bee movie Prime in hand, I was surprised how much I didn't like him (despite their amazing execution).

I think it just boils down to liking bayverse designs better. No, none of the Bee movie designs were officially Bayverse. But Bee, Blitzwing, Shatter and Dropkick all feel like they were designed while the plan was still to make this the same continuity as bayverse. At some point they broke with that and the other designs speak much more strongly to G1.

Those are fun and if the 07 movie had looked like that it would have been perfect. But as crappy as the bayverse movies were, I really like a lot of the designs, especially from earlier in the series.

Bee feels very bayverse to me, Prime feels like total G1 homage.

Really? I don't feel that. Aside from Bee having an obviously simplified version of the bay-verse head, he really screams G1 to me. Albeit more rounded than boxy.
Optimus feels like a weird hybrid of g1 and bayverse. He's got those weird looking feet and shins, and his chest seems a bit too square compared to the rest of him. Whereas bee's design just flows well.
I kinda like the long legs, makes them seem more super-robot or japanese style. Agreed on soundwave being chunky but I wondered if that was because those designs were added last minute and made over the bee model.
With Optimus, he's so close to greatness that the flaws seem to stick out even more. Or maybe because Bumblebee feels G1 in spirit without being a slave to his original G1 design like Prime's model is. Optimus's sharper boxier angles seem out of place with some other alien aspects in his design.
    It's all nitpicking, really.

Bee has small car panels as body all over the place and his chest is made up of lots of small segmented sections of car bumper and he has shoulder wheels (plus many of the toys have door wings as well- which I actually like). Don't get me wrong, if Bay had okayed it he'd have at least twice as many smaller body panels. But still it screams simplified Bay design to me vs. the even more simplified G1 designs seen on Cybertron. It feels to me like Travis likes simpler and was able to simplify some but the basic ideas for designs were probably to far along to start over before he came on board (or everyone just felt they needed to tie it more back to the Bayverse Bee, who really isn't the same character as G1 Bee IMHO).

Also, every Bay Bee (excpet maybe the AOE one) has had the front of of the car as his chest and this one does as well. G1 Bee didn't.

    I could be totally wrong.

I think it's a balance between the two. The Travis designs have the colors stand out more, and the vehicle parts are more immediately recognizable. On the other hand, what would be flat, fairly featureless gray/silver/black bits in G1 have the bayverse greebles to better implement character articulation.

I could have sworn he came with two different blades. Also what female figure is that that is being used in the pics?

Laurie Strode Halloween 2018 body, and a Jonah Hex Lilah (aka Megan Fox) head. Both by NECA. They do not naturally work together well, have to do some work to get them to look right. I cut the Strode neck down with scissors, had to break the Lilah head off to get it off body, used wax to keep head on.

I'm always looking forward to seeing new videos of this guy in different light and poses. He really is so much more impressive of a display piece in that size and with all the additional posing options. I'm also diggin' your take on him with the more held back attitude. Subbed.
