Eh. I'll stick to my Supernova Wing Zero Customs....though my Snowwhite is stuck in the warehouse my supplier uses due to the pandemic.... When Bandai gives me that G-Self Ver.Ka I'll consider it....
Eh, I'm no longer excited about Wing Zeroes anymore. I have the original MG Wing Zero EW (just snap-fitted from well over 10 years ago). I have the MG Wing ver.Ka (still in box, untouched). Totally passed on both the HiRM and GFFMC Wing Zero EW. Not directly related, I have the MG (TV) Wing (still in box, untouched), but I've been meaning to get the MG Wing Proto Zero (I do like what they did with its proportions). I'm pretty sure I'm all Wing'ed out.
Knowing me, I'll build it. I've already built the HG, 1:100, MG, PG, Hi-RM (minus its rifle still incomplete until then) and have the the RG with a full SIX Drei Zwerg (THIRD PARTY) backlogged. All I'm missing is an SD and the Super Nova, but my Wing Zero "Grand Slam" will be complete eventually. Meanwhile, I got my first "Notice for Future Shipping" email from P.Bandai US, my Re-GZ Custom and Vigna Zirah should be shipping out soon by next week at the earliest.
So I finally started my Dwadge repaint. The hobby store I go to should be in phase one reopening so I can finally get some supplies. But I started with they simplest part... I hit the back of the spray emitter with a silver, then went over the top with a clear yellow. Happy enough with the result. This this is gonna get the Unicorn paint job and some desert weathering.
Nice nice! That's like me and Freedoms/StrikeFreedoms, but that's mainly because of my username. Freedom: have SD, 1/144 NG, 1/144 HG, MG 1.0, 1/60, HGCE, SDCS (so missing 1/100, RG, MG 2.0) StriFree: have SD, 1/144 NG, 1/144 HG, MG, 1/60 Lightning, HGCE, SD EX (so missing 1/100, RG, PG) Special appearances by HGBF Amazing StriFree and HGBD Love Phantom.
That Entry Grade RX78 though goes along with something I had noticed that Bandai is trying to get back to their tool-free approach with the Sprukits line... so I just resuscitated that old thread to show what I'm doing again.
Same, Wing Zero is my favorite, EW was one of the first series I watched (I have the JP laserdisc version of the movie).
I'm building up to a custom Z'Gok but my kit (HG from like a million years ago) doesn't have any stickers for some reason. I'd like to do an LED for the eye but am not sure on a solution for getting power to it. Failing that, what's the easiest way to make a tiny bit of paint extremely shiny so I can use that in lieu of the sticker?
For shiny sensors and the like, lay down a coat of silver first. Once that's fully dried, go over it with a gloss coat in the tint of your choosing.
I wish Bandai would seriously fucking up their LED game. With Kyrios out I would love to get some LEDs for it and Dynames, but Bandai's are hot garbage and the KO ones I have are all dead. I seriously don't understand how it's so hard to get them right.
Battery cell are most common for small things like that as mentioned. Or you could save yourself some wiring and get one of those light-up beam saber handles and use that. Since the battery is integral, when it dies you'll need to replace it so you'll have to make it accessible. For foil eyes, you can also actually just glue tin foil and paint it with clear. I think even a fluorescent marker will work.
Sometimes I wonder why I mask and airbrush like I do... Had to do this x4 (2 for the Strike Freedom and 2 for the Amazing Strike Freedom)...
holy shit a florida hobby shop has 1/100 Overflags for only $12 each, fucking score Bandai BAN152378 #11 Over Flag "Gundam 00", Bandai HG 00 edit: i bought three. Army Build Time.
A little work on the Sniper tonight. Arm armor on, and tweaking a few painted details. My dark blue additions really turned out nice! Meanwhile, here's something else I went back to work on after nearly six years. My unfinished Level 3 Master Chief Sprukits model, but it's relevant for Gunpla too. Chief's visor is a two part method, the outer surface with the molded details and a backer layer molded in clear plastic that needs a chrome decal to lay over it. I opted instead to decant a Molotov pen and applied it with a sponge brush, but I thinned it slightly with Mr Color Thinner. I let it dry a full 24 hours before setting it inside the helmet. Using the thinner turned out pretty good and I still get the near mirror shine with almost no brush strokes or bubbling.
