"Tape" face first so the bat is facing you as you open it

Someone said they bought from china earlier in the thread and had issues. And my bro always says avoid china bc you can get bootlegs that way.
    So that link is good?
    Hmmmm

I have a Legends Shockwave that came on a card from China, and it is almost certainly a bootleg. Terrible tolerances. These are legit though. No doubt.

That's the same seller I purchased my set from. Just got them in the other day, and they look and feel legit to me. I was afraid they'd be a horrible knock off, but the packaging looked legit and they even have all the Hasbro batch stamps.

Since I skipped the first Spy Patrol set (because they were included with Netflix Soundwave), this set was the first and only carded Spy Patrol set that I got. I heard some bad things about these two on the TFW boards so I was very concerned, but now that I have them in hand I like them both a lot.

(NOTE: I'm not gonna get into the FIRRIB debate here, so I'll just call red guy Rumble because that's what the package says.)

    20210417_082342.jpg 20210417_083751.jpg 20210417_083845.jpg

Rumble's a tiny little dude who turns into a tiny little rectangle. Unlike Laserbeak and Ravage, who had one 'cassette' side and one side that was blatantly folded up robot kibble, either side of Rumble can serve as the 'front' if the head is turned to face the other way. I elected to use his chest side as the front because the G1-accurate gold printing is top notch and I'm not a huge fan of the folded 5mm peg facing forward. (That writing on his legs have to go though.) In robot mode he obviously isn't as articulated as most larger WFC Trilogy toys, but he's fairly mobile for his size. The only thing I can fault him for is the lack of elbows, but I suppose that those would have been very small pieces and would have been easy breakage points. I still like him a lot without them, and the only thing I wish for is some third party to make him (and Frenzy) some piledrivers.

Ratbat has more or less the same transformation scheme as his G1 toy, but he's much more streamlined due to advances in technology and having less of an obligation to transform into a perfectly rectangular box. Indeed, Ratbat makes the least convincing 'cassette' out of the bunch - he's not even a complete rectangle when viewed from the front! However, the bat mode is simply awesome. He has two joints in the neck that allow him to look up slightly in flying poses, which goes a great deal in making him more fun. He also stands well on his tiny little feet, though he doesn't have dedicated perch spots on Soundwave like Laserbeak does. All in all, he's a great Ratbat.

Rumble's fit in my Takara Netflix Soundwave's chest is the same as Ravage, meaning he's a perfect fit with zero issues to speak of. Ratbat, however, is TIGHT. He's so tight I thought the clear plastic would stress from the strain, though fortunately enough it didn't. I'll likely refrain from putting Ratbat in Soundwave when I'm playing with him, just to be safe. This is what the two of them look like inside Soundwave.

    20210417_085036.jpg 20210417_090238.jpg

Overall, these two are worthy modern updates of Soundwave's two minions. Although Ratbat has some size issues, that doesn't prevent me from enjoying their playability and interactivity with Soundwave all the same. If you have Soundwave or Soundblaster in your collection, you'll want to keep Rumble and Ratbat close by.

The Siege cassettes will probably fit in SS BBM Soundwave's chest, but not intentionally.
