The 2002 series was really really good, so I'm hoping one of these shows will be at least as good.

Don't have much confidence in this, maybe I need to be a bigger fan of He-Man or something. At least it's being made unlike the practically defunct movie plans.

You can pretty much blame Tom Rothman for that.

She is supposed to be the protagonist of this series but He-Man / Adam are likely to be there constantly since the two are typically together. My guess is “Revelation” refers to who Tesla’s father is and moving her character arc along it’s predestined path to Sorceress. And Kevin Smith said the show “might” feature the He-Man / Skeletor final battle so they might be heading for an actual ending.

The initial announcement did make mention that the Sword of Power was lost - so Adam may be around but he can't be He-Man anymore.

So it's basically a She-Ra show, but set in Eternia. -_- :lol  :lol

I love how that article says it has release date and story details but then says it will premier in 2021, probably summer. Like okay, so then if you are just guessing, why the fuck do you state in your article title that you have the release date?

It would make sense to put Teela in a position where she had to take the lead.

They are aware we knew that from the very first announcement, right? This isn't new information - hell, He-Man isn't even in the title. It's a MOTU story independent of He-Man himself.
Leave it to Clownfish TV to misrepresent the situation.

This is probably why Mattel is doing another He-man show. That one will actually star He-man.
I think the problem is they keep saying this is a sequel to the original show, also after they published their last editorial on the show Kevin Smith said they were wrong on twitter, and now the article today backs up and mostly repeats the information they reported, and got hammered over.

Oh, I think they know EXACTLY what they're doing here.

As for Teela being centre-stage? Good. I think they forget that while we all use "He-man" as shorthand, the franchise doesn't have anyone's name in the title. It's alright to tell a story about someone else for a change.

I also don't like the whole "the show never got to explore the final showdown between He-man and Skeletor". I mean, this was a show where people could not even punch each other, and He-man usually let Skeletor get off with a stern warning and an after-episode message to kids after thwarting his latest evil scheme. Knowing Smith, he will make some epic deadly showdown that is just totally not in tone with the old show. I mean, if he wanted that, he should have finished the 2002 show instead...

Wasn't the old MOTU totally episodic, with a bare minimum of continuity? I mean I know some characters were recurring and the show tried to remember they have appeared before, but that's all. To my knowledge there were not grand storylines or recurring plot points...

See, I've been saying the whole time after hearing what Smith wanted to do with this show that he shouldn't be playing with 80's He-Man, but with the 2002 He-Man. It actually had an overarcing story that is just waiting to be finished... you don't really have that with a lot of old 80's toons... He-Man included.

They didn't actually misrepresent the situation, but you are currently doing so here which is ironic, or maybe you just weren't paying that much attention, saw the title of the video and got upset. Either way nice work. :^)

What actually happened was this: They made a video talking about the info from an insider talking about how this continuation was for some reason going to put focus on Teela rather than Prince Adam and feature some other odd elements, rather than just ignoring it as speculation Kevin Smith decided to more-or-less lie to people and call out a tweet they made, and it's been revealed that basically they were more or less correct about what they had gained from a """faux insider""". All Kev had to do was not open his pie hole, but I know for someone like him that's a bit difficult, so he felt compelled to address the issue because I think he knows deep-down they're making choices that are dumb and that fans probably won't like or agree with.

So no, they were right, and as far as I'm aware this wasn't known from the very first announcement, unless you have a crystal ball somewhere. Just because the name isn't in the title doesn't mean it's outrageous to assume Prince Adam would be a main character in it.

Aw, you think they're willfully misrepresenting people despite the fact it's all out there for anyone to view and it's pretty obvious that they aren't. I don't get the mindset of just lying outright when you can so easily find the info for yourself and see it with your own eyes.

So much cope and defensiveness over a show that's not even out yet. Guess I shouldn't be too shocked, I'm sure if it sucks you folks will defend it either way.

If you're gonna be irrationally defensive over a show that's not out yet, at least get good defenses. These ones bore me.

"Uhhh that stuff may be true but He-man's name isn't even in the title, so it's dumb to assume he'd be in the franchise he's a main character of!!1!"

Yeah the old he-man for the most part could be watched in any order. There were some episodes that needed to watched in a certain place, but usually like old comics they would do a flash back to explain it to viewers who hadn't seen the old episodes. While they didn't always punch people, they did wrestling style moves and often threw or flipped people.

From the article that announced this, Nova, linked in the first post. So yes, we did know this from the beginning - we knew that the Sword of Power is missing, we knew that this story is focused on Teela - none of this means Prince Adam/He-Man won't be here, it just means he's not the immediate main focus of the story. Clownfish made a clickbait video with a clickbait thumbnail and video title, something which they do regularly. If they didn't want assumptions to be made about the video's content, then they shouldn't have presented it that way.

Someone refresh my memory. There’s this show and one other coming, what’s the difference between the two again?

The other one is supposedly a reboot and a CGI series. This one is a "sequel", I think, focused on the original series cast and characters.
