Beast Machines is an ending, though. If you're going to continue the story of Beast Wars, you're going to have to go back to a prior page in that Choose Your Own Adventure and proceed with an alternate ending. Deleting Beast Machines and continuing Beast Wars is as good a place as any because it would appeal to those who didn't care for Beast Machines, it keeps everything fans liked about Beast Wars, it maintains the character development and relationships established from the previous three seasons that Beast Machines skewed and it presents an opportunity to tell a story without a foregone conclusion as opposed to "lost tales".

New BW comic means new figures given the current synergy between the two.

Also, willing to bet the first issue (at least) starts with vehicle modes and that's where stuff like Netflix Cheetor will come in.

Agreed. I’d be in favor of this approach, although I think a completely fresh start is more likely.

That’s just it. It wasn’t so awful. It wasn’t perfect, but it doesn’t need to be forgotten or fixed. Just keep the story going from where it stopped.

Anyway, I don’t think there’s any need to worry about BM as far as IDW goes. It’ll be a while if they ever even get to that part of the Beast era.

I'm fine with a "rebooted" Beast Wars, origins and all. Especially if it integrates them fully into the G1 lore in such a way they can pop up alongside Prime and Megatron without nary a second thought.

They can be whatever size they need to be on Cybertron to fit in, and then shake things up when they get to Earth.

And I absolutely fine with toys that scale around each other even if it doesn't work with G1/Victory dudes. So, like, make Primal a Voyager, Megatron a Leader, and go from there. (I actually might even settle for Primal as a taller Deluxe so there's room for guys like Inferno and Dinobot to be on the taller side without clogging up the price point. I would even err on the side of BW Megs being a taller Voyager to accomodate Depth Charge and Rampage as Leaders if they were so inclined.

That would be an interesting reboot to the saga. Rather than have Maximals and Predacons from the future go to the past, send Autobots and Decepticons from the past to Earth's past before The Ark arrives. I guess that frees up the writers to tell their own story.

As for new figures, we'll have to wait and see how robust they go with that. It could just be a smattering or it could be an entire sub-line dedicated to Beast Wars. I'm still personally leaning towards Beast Wars being a follow-up to WFC (after Earthrise) and what we're seeing with Cheetor is "preview" figures. Unfortunately, I think there's going to be a 6-month disconnect between media and the toyline thanks to the COVID-19 Pandemic...so media will hit first and the planned toyline is getting delayed.

Neato burrito! I have but one request: Fuzors are in it and get to be main characters, especially Torca and Injector. Oh, and Alex Milne on art duties would be fuckin' toight.

Whatever direction they take the BW cast in I just hope that this new series turns out excellent in its own right and does a lot to bring the BW cast into the mainstream in a big manner like that.

Not sure how you improve on Injector, but a non GPS Torca would be great.

As much as I love Beast Wars AND Beast Machines, I think it might be a little premature to get excited about IDW jumping into that continuity with both feet. I'll consider checking it out when it comes, but I can't in good faith say I'm super excited by the prospect. With the right people behind the scenes, they could do amazing things. Or they could just botch it so hard people that don't know the property already will talk in later years of that one time that silly comic book company tried to put fur on the Transformers. With so little details as to where it's headed, there's absolutely no way to know.

That said, the Beast Wars lover inside me is still peaking around wondering what's up.

Ah, the president of Garry's Fan Club will be doing the pencils. I've met her. Nice lady. But I'm struggling to remember what her art looks like...I've slept since I've seen it and that was many years ago now.

IDW Beast Wars without tying it to the cartoon's canon.

Going to go out on a limb here and assume it'll be like their G1 continuity where it's warmed over Con Quest with the "good guys" being just as underhanded and corrupt as the "bad guys", or worse.

I mean, there's implications of it with Rampage's origins and bits of dialogue coming from characters who're kind of not to be trusted...

With how even the original BW show and it's respective media gave off hints on how the Maximal council and officials tended to give off shady vibes such as how certain Cybertron laws tend to favor more to the Maximal side then the Predacons along with Dinobots comments on how his kind wouldn't be accepted in the episode where they attempted to go home after believing Megatron and his Predacons to be dead I wouldn't be opposed to seeing that be explored in more detail albeit in a manner that does it right.

Just looking at most of the comments on here, no wonder Hasbro never did anything with Beast Wars again, BW fans just want the same thing again and nothing new and different. It's just as bad as G1 fans. I'm a Transformers fans over all I like every series of Transformers.

On the one hand, I love Beast Wars. But on the other hand, IDW is garbage when it comes to Beast Wars, they just cannot get that setting right. Am I really supposed to believe that this time, IDW is finally going to get it right?

I kind of explicitly stated that I wanted the opposite though.
I love BW Megatron, Tarantulas, Silverbolt, Blackarachnia, Optimus, Rhinox, Depth Charge etc, but if they can make a new BW comic, toon, or movie without them that I can love just as much as the nineties toon bless em.
I enjoyed The Gathering and the other mini and I think most of BWU was amazing.
Let them do different. As long as it's not about pleasing people like you just described I'm all for it.
