I’ll support what’s good. The last thing I want IDW to think is that BW fans are so desperate they’ll just blindly support any shit they shovel.

Hopefully that won’t be an issue.

Agreed. I think the original show is a complete and pretty well told story. There’s no need for it to be retold verbatim.

I also think that the “untold stories” approach is extremely niche for a show that ended 20+ years ago. Accordingly, while I’ll buy this in any event, I’m hoping it’ll be a complete reinterpretation, an “alternate universe” or whatever. That’s the approach they’re gonna have to take with the movie so they may as well do it here too.

The hard core g1 crowd ain't hearing it, but I'm feeling it now, the part 3 of this new war for cybertron trilogy is going to be the beast wars. Released to coincide with the new but unrelated best wars comic series

I highly doubt there'll be an issue in the series about shoveling shit. Unless they decide to make a squel to "The Low Road".

I mean, it’s IDW, their history speaks for itself. Look at how frickin boring the current run.

I haven't really been paying attention, but I remember everyone praising the IDW series a few years ago...

Look, I’m on the side of the fence that likes the present IDW run but even I appreciate that its taken far too long to get to the actual war. Hopefully the COVID break has allowed editorial to make some tweaks and move things up because we really need it to break out over the next couple of issues.

With that said, I would find it slightly hilarious if the first six issues of the Beast Wars comic were just an in-depth examination of procedural and bureaucratic issues facing the Tripredicus council.

I think the main problem with the current IDW series is that they mostly just have to make time for the upcoming War for Cybertron show on Netflix. They don't have much freedom in the kind of stories they can tell.

I think big corperations with multiple forms of media trying to tie those media together on a particular deadline always ends up as a bad idea.

It's what has been dragging Pokemon down, for example. Forcing different forms of media to operate on the same timelineand connect to one another in a big marketing push just rushes all the content and waters them all down.

One of the last things Dreamwave was going to do before the bankruptcy was Beast Wars, wonder if IDW is on the same path to repeat history.

Imo, I think that if things are going the way they're going, Dreamwave's loss will still be the leave a bigger loss compared to if IDW falls. Dreamwave still had some redeeming factors like the emerging IDW artists, Furman's return, the later G1 ongoing, Energon and Armada, ect. The current IDW ongoing barely has any redeeming factors. The artstyle is poor "webcomic" art, the story is a boring slow burn with more standing and talking than actual actions, and the occasional "Look guys, X showed up to our story!" nostalgia bait.

IDW1's ended stories will still be talked about for sure no doubt, but if this ongoing gets cut short it'll only get the occasional mention and that's it.

There's one more option: Season 4. They can always pretend like Beast Machines never happened. Pick up where the character growth left off from Season 3, have a disaster strike in mid-transwarp back to Cybertron and either have the ship return to Earth some time between pre-historic Earth and modern Earth. Megatron can escape and find future versions of his Predacon pals while the Maximals might find some unexpected help from Cybertron.

I would rather they didn't pretend Beast Machines didn't happen, but I would be okay with a time travel event to prevent Beast Machines from happeing. Maybe the technorganic future kinda sucks and Primal was wrong, and they need to prevent his radicalization. Perhaps, because of what he did to Cybertron, he's regarded as a bit of a villain in the far-future.

Seems unlikely. But with Cyberverse seemingly coming to a close soon, there's a chance Beast Wars might fill in that space. Either that or Studio Series might get put on hiatus (they're starting to run out of characters).

    Unfortunately, Larry passed away.
And Simon already wrote IDW’s first two mini-series from several years ago. They weren’t to my liking. He just crammed (nearly) everyone from BW, BW2 & BWNeo into 8 issues, tossed in some end of the universe stuff, & killed off a bunch of guys like he always does.

No. That’s what the convention comics did. Just pander to the people that didn’t like it. Retcon the whole thing so it either doesn’t exist or Primal was wrong somehow & the Oracle was evil.

How about instead of retconning things, they take the next step in the story after the show has ended? That would be something new!

Just because something has been done wrong before doesn't mean it can't be done right.

I don't like the idea of just pretending something didn't happen. Either give there a reason it didn't happen, or start the story from scratch and reinvision it. Or just say it's an alternate timeline.

Beast Machines was not so awful that it needs to be forgotten.

I'm curious to see what they do. The current comics are something I have enjoyed, but I enjoy slow burn stories. My guess is the upcoming Beast Wars will be a reimagining, possibly in ada era of the new IDW continuity. That leaves room for random onesone and miniseries to do fill in or continuation stories around the show.
