    Jump to the 45:30 mark!

Chris Ryall: I don't know if there's other Transformers plans we want to discuss here or not. You know, the ongoing series is doing it's thing, but maybe, uh. Beast Wars has an anniversary coming up if I'm not mistaken.

John Barber: It does, yes. And that is something we want to maybe sort of talk about. I don't think we've talked about this anywhere. There'll be a new Beast Wars series coming very soon. I know more details about it. I know a little bit more about it than that. But we're not ready to tell anything. But yeah, it's going to be the anniversary of Beast Wars. I think that's a... It's such a huge thing worldwide. Beast-Mode. Everyone knows what that means. Yeah, it'll be exciting to come back into that world. You know, over the years, we've had a lot of the characters show up. I, personally, have given short-shrift to a lot of those Beast Wars characters in stories I've written. Sorry. This won't be that. This will be genuine Beast Wars that I think a lot of people grew up with, and a lot of people love.

Chris Ryall: I mean that's kinda the cool thing about Transformers as a whole, you know. There's the Beast Wars fans that are rabid for more Beast Wars, and the UK fans that grew up loving that, and the fans of the main book that we've been doing, and all the other iterations. And so, it's great that there's not only audiences for all of this kind of content, but also that there's the passion from the fans that want to keep seeing more of all of it. So...

John Barber: Yeah, I mean a lot of our Transformers creators, for years, Beast Wars has been stuff that people grew up with. That was what introduced them to this world.

Just as a sneaky aside, I'd been in contact with Chris about pitching them DEICIDE, but he informed me that IDW already had plans underway for a Beast Wars series. I've had to keep that little tidbit under my hat for a couple of months.

I still can't believe we're actually getting a new BW series in comic form as in the actual ones we grew up with. :D

That's cool. I'm thinking about what influence the G1 IDW series have had on the toyline, and imagining that a Beast Wars series could have the same influence. Not just old ideas given new toys, but actual new ideas.

Transformers is a brand with multiple facets or spheres, each with its own smaller elements therein:
    • TV Shows
      • Cyberverse
      • War For Cybertron
    • Movies
    • Comic Books
      • Ongoing
      • Other
    • Toy Lines
      • Cyberverse
      • Generations
      • Masterpiece
      • Studio Series
      • Reissues
The news from IDW today is just another example of Beast Wars permeating into another of these spheres in a big way of late, creating this sense of something building that hasn't quite taken it's final form or been fully revealed yet.

Imagine your favorite Beast Wars character.

Now imagine that in a year or two, your favorite Beast Wars character... may be a character who doesn't yet exist.

I get kind of tingly at the thought.

Back in the late 90's and early 00's when I had to have all the Beast Wars merchandise I could find, I'm pretty sure I had all three of these puzzles. Ahh, those were the days.

:lol  Those puns get me every time. By the way, nice puzzle.

The IDW stuff is encouraging. Personally, I want to see the artwork first before I get too excited. Some designs they've done with Transformers over the years have been cool, some make me scratch my noggin.

Honestly, I reallly hope that this gives some of the other toys that never made their way into Western cartoons another chance at designs in the series, and some new toys.

I really want a new Mangaboss toy. Beast Combiners with more modern engineering would be a whole never level of awesome.

I'm kind of ignorant when it comes to the comics, so I had to see what he had drawn in relation to what I've read and seen. I have the Beast Wars Omnibus that combined The Gathering and The Ascending and I was a big fan of his work in that. So, I would have more enthusiasm if he wanted to come back to Beast Wars again.

I would love this. I enjoyed Magnaboss when I was a kid and I would love to have a complete version again. The combined form was great, but I remember the road getting there was a nightmare for me.

Copied from the other thread because I'm so excited and want discussion.

    Alright, thoughts.
So let's assume this comic is happening and that we are going to be able to get it out there and IDW doesn't fall before then.

First off, I want Dark Glass. I feel like there is a really big plot hole in the show regarding Dinobot's fate in the finale, and I would love to see that hole filled. This would be a great way to do it. I'd be okay with a few retcons, and it could be a really great story that would never be done in our old universe in a movie or a new TV series. A comic is a perfect formant for it.

I also think there is potential for alernate timeline stories. There was a massive temporal event at the end of season 2. That event could have very easily split up the continuity into a bunch of timelines. In theory, the comic could give us a completely different season 3 in one of those alternate timelines. I think because of the nature of the event, split timelines is something that would make sense and be accepted by a lot of the fandom.

Like, holy shit guys, what about a comic series on Beast Wars in the world Prime was actually killed in the Arc and Primal wasn't able to save him. The great wars went very differently, Decepticons won the war. Alternate timeline universe, maximals are slaves. The death of Prime is a mystery, but a group of slaves (the axalon crew) discover a golden disc that contains the truth of what happened (Beast Wars Megatron couldn't help but leave evidence of his great victory).

Alternate timeline Megatron knows of his main timeline victory because main timeline Megatron left a message for him specifically, so he goes out of his way to cover up the truth and sends men to kill the axalon crew prevent the timeline from reverting. Damn, that could be sooooo good!

Outside of this, I would be totally okay with a complete reinterpretation of the story. Transformers has been done so many times now, G1, Unicron Trilogy, Animated, Prime, etc etc.

Some of those were pretty good. I am ready for Beast Wars to get the same treatment.

    Yes, yes, YES!
I planned out several beast combiners years ago that kept with the "these 3 and only these 3 combine".
I had a Maximal that was a bird of prey, a penguin, and a Phorusracidae memeber.
I loved that the individual weapons combined into the gestalt's weapon, and everything stored when not in use.
BW II having their Insecticons being a sub-team is something I could appreciate coming back.

what if ravage use the stasis pods and revive the original descepticons as clones, they could repaint bw 2 galvatron in White as megatron, transmetals scavenger as soundwave, transmetal terroursaur as lazerbeak, transmetal waspinator as the seekers ect

It'd be cool if the BW comic series gave us some spotlight on some lesser known BW characters and make them into fan favorites. Like how IDW 1.0 was able to make guys like Whirl,Tailgate,Swerve,Rewind, and Chromedome into fan favorites.
