The solid bright lemon yellow for the headlights still bugs me--they had like 5 years to try something else, but didn't.

 

Still don't get why they made that section behind the cab (that's part of the cab) blue instead of purple.

 

Show us combined mode, please!

 

I hope the G2 variant gets its own thread at some point.

 

A beauty in combined mode. One of my favorite.

 

I still like that all of the individual bot weapons can store on the combined mode.

 

I'm thinking about picking these guys up either to customize them or just the way they are. Are they worth getting and if so anything I should worry about them?

 

Yes they are. Biggest issue is dragstrips windshield cracking. Some tollerance issues. Overall a beauty.

 

Anyone have scans or pics of the instructions for the DMY upgrades for this thing? I actually randomly found a set in storage buuuuut no instructions.

 

Just to elaborate a bit here, the only reason the Dragstrip's windshield cracks is that it's designed to turn only one way. Many people didn't realize that, and tried to force it, resulting in the breakage. It's not particularly fragile, otherwise.

These guys don't make for the greatest custom fodder. They've got finicky transformations that involve parts moving past each other just right, which means there's huge potential for custom paint work or whatever to get chipped and gouged, if you're still looking for them to be playable afterwards.

 

Still waiting for the G2 Diesel preorders to go up. Anyday now...

Ah, well that sucks, then. Might have been a poor tolerance variance then. Screwed in too tight or something.

As far as I'm aware, most of the reported breaks have been from not knowing any better and turning the part the wrong way.

I sanded down the area that Dragstrip's window slides up and down, JUST in case. (and as mentioned else where--it only turns one way--AND I THINK THE INSTRUCTIONS SHOW THE WRONG WAY----do not trust them, turn it gently---if it doesn't turn easily, try the other way)

Also, Breakdown, and to a lesser degree Wildrider, tend to have a lot of their body-shell tabs/slots (especially for the legs) quite tight. I recommend sanding them down/rounding them off a smidge, if able.

 

@echotransformer Thank you again. This set doesn't have the chest filler piece but overall it looks better with it added. It's night and day for Dragstrip in particular.
