Neither do I. But it was suggested this next Evil Lyn was some kinda homage.

Five Belows may still be getting in the CoD care packages. That or the one my friend stopped at had stock from where their grand opening was grandly closed thanks to the cat flu.

I realize it's been shown. And I don't bother with twitter.

    So what was this comment?
They aren't touching 2002 but they are homaging it with halfassed repaints of figures twice released? That's kinda touching on, right?

But, no, the repaint isn't much of an homage. It's minimum effort to sell the same mold a third time... like eighth if you count all the Teelas. And, again, enough fucking repaints.

Homaging it and making completely different and special molds is a different thing entirely.

Mayhap you ought to educate yourself what Battleground Evil Lyn actually was. Take old school Evil Lyn and straight repaint it into the 2002 colours with a cloak, the end.

Didn't they say a long time ago that they had prototypes/mock ups of every character made at a Power Con like, years ago?

And don't MOTU figures already re-use parts a whole bunch? Like, isn't the only new piece on Moss Man the spiked head for his weapon?

Of course, and this is hitting me now, they could just be putting the new/more unique characters in the bigger sets so people buy 'em, if Battle Ram/Sky Sled is any indication.

Personally, I don't mind the repaints TOO much, since they're at least referencing other toys like Stratos' swapped colors, or the other cartoons or whatever.

Plus they've done all 3 Evil Lyns and all the Teela variants so they can't do anymore right?

Considering that the Star Trek license isn't for free and having it would cost them money (and likely, not a little), I would think that it is unlikely that they have the license (thus paying for it) and not releasing anything. Having the license and not doing anything with it, is a guaranteed loss.

They could at least reissue sets or offer existing mini-figures in new deco's if they thought new products wouldn't sell enough to warrant the design expenses. Since they don't, I expect them to no longer have it.

That's still not the 2002 design. It's just the classic figure in colors resembling that of the 2002 design. It looks better than the Mega effort mostly due to being apply to apply more paint at the size figure. But it looks very little like the character design for the 2002 Evil Lyn outside color.

Yes, but your original comment was "not touching the 2002 line". If a poor repaint is an homage then it is, in some degree [albeit minor], touching on the 2002 series.

Now, I still agree with your original comment that they aren't as this figure presented is really weak as an homage. It would be a lot like if their Prince Adam had also come with the 2002 power sword. The sword may be an homage but the figure is still an 80's design.

In the least, they could have offered a new alternate headsculpt with the pale face and white hair. Something I believe the Classics figure did.

The series 12 Poke Balls went up on Amazon yesterday and in the small window before it was shared on Reddit and I found out, Trapinch sold out. No clue when I'll get a chance at him now. :(

Got the other 4 in the wave I wanted ordered though and surprisingly they already shipped. Guess I got used to nonessentials from Amazon taking a while that actually getting what I'm paying for with Prime is the stranger thing now lol.

That has been my complaint from the start, the MotU line is one of very few new tools mostly heads, armor and accessories and then swapping them about to complete the entire line. There's no reason for the line to be releasing multiple variants of the same five molds over and over and not make them distinct characters instead of Beastman, now a different shade of orange.

Skeletor and HeMan were released single carded, then again in the five pack to help folks out whi may not have found the single cards, then again with the Windraider [this time with a weapon variation and unpainted Skeletor feet]. There are the Grayskull concept and cartoon colors now too. We are on Skeletor number six and just now getting the battle armor version.

Kids of the 80s had exactly one Skeletor version to play with before the battle armor one finally was released. And even those that followed had different gimmicks other than, "well, he's more of the blue green color this time."

And if sales of Prince Adam and the formation Evil Lyn are anything to judge by, fans weren't exactly needing either.

And even if the new characters are meant to entice sales of large sets, as of now, we have two options to buy those sets: ToyWiz and DeepDiscount.

God, is there anywhere I could get that COD desert tank they released a year or two ago? Also, are the tracks on it the new type or will they dry out and snap?

Looks like the Alien eggs aren't coming to Canada. I'm giving up.
Anyone south of the border willing to find a set or two for me if I cover shipping + finders fee?

But it IS Battlegrounds Evil Lyn. Which IS the point. In MOTUC what Mattel did most of the time was take the old school design and give them a second 2002 style head and weapon. With a few exceptions like Evil Lyn or 2002 original characters like Chief Carnivus or King Greyskull. Mega is just carrying that forward. Mattel has never bothered with exacting reproductions of the 2002 looks just use the old school designs with some 2002 flavour.

Haha, I have no stake or care on this topic but agree with this. In the pictures @Hicks_Royel shared to push the point, "it looks very little like the character design for the 2002 Evil Lyn outside color", I would say that I don't see anyone looking at those two pictures saying anything other than those two being the same character.

If you look at small details of course there are differences. The point is, I don't think anyone would look at the two and have any confusion about it being the same character. Especially when you say "it looks very little like..." I think it's more, "it looks very little unlike...".

But again, I don't care either way. I just want to know how and when Mattel is going to make any of these figures readily available in this market. There is little to no chance of me finding them in store when I could barely do so before the current situation. Now that I am probably not going to be in a Walmart for quite a long time, how am I supposed to get these things?
