Another place to buy older KO's from 80s and 90s is at Mexican or Asian flea markets/baazars in your areas. I remember late in 1998 I used to see good quality KO's such as the Turbo Megazord for around $20 and it was great KO because my cousin bought it.

I have a weird one I've been trying to ID for a couple of years. I asked about this in the other KO thread but didn't really find anything new out. It's a very simple but strange robot with an armored car for feet that transforms by bending over. The alt mode is a jet with an armored car underneath it. I get a Macross/Robotech vibe from it. It was from Hong Kong in 1984. The company name on the bottom of the toy is just a symbol. I would like to figure out more about this if anyone knows. If not, it's still a cool oddity to add to the thread.

I'm pretty sure that I've seen a maroon and purple one on eBay once. Other than that, I have no clue about its origins. The robot part seems to be based on some version of the Armored Valkyrie, since it has the same chest armor and missile pods.

*sigh* I miss my old Taiwan KO of Road Caesar. I had the exact version linked prior. I don't honestly know why I ever sold it. I know I got out of G1, but I almost immediately regretted it and still do. The TFC version is awesome, but there's something about the original molds that has that stupid kind of charm.

The Landcross KOs were good, too. A fully functional set and again, got rid of them. (Like an idiot.)

The late 90s/early 00's were a treasure trove of Korean and Taiwanese KOs. They were gems. Heck, I even had one of the Monstructor/Dinoking KOs...you know, the one with the weird chemical smell that was probably friggin' dangerous to be inhaling and who knows what it was doing to your skin when you handled it, but it was awesome.

*sigh* Good days. Too far gone, now. Shame no one's firing up those old molds anymore. =\

Thats a shame man! but i can relate. I remember lots of great KOs growing up, that ended either in the trash (after years of play), or used for kitbashes and mods... Also several others that i didnt bought at the time

Ive seen these two packages over the years, and i was able to get one last year and a fellow mexican got another with small differences

Made in Taiwan who knows when (maybe early 90s?), the figure is all plastic. Includes everything from the real figure, accesories still on sprue, sticker sheet are replicas of the Hasbro figures, with Decepticon logos removed

Apparently, every limb can be found with mixed colors. All the pieces fit just fine and can be switched with real figures and combiners. In fact, metal chests can be used with these to make sturdier figures (something i did last year). Breakdown in particular is oddly similar to the G2 Prototype

Fits nicely in any G2 Display as you can see on my last pic:)

I can vouch for the quality on that one. It's a Four Star release, so it's pretty top notch. The brown Ravage they put out is similarly good, though the holes for the chrome rockets are seriously tight.

Gosh. I always wanted that KO. Never did get it. Sold out at a reasonable price and I wasn't paying legit G1 prices for that, back then.

By the time the prevalent KOs became a thing, I was out of G1.

    Poison Gas Car, Destroy Car...

God, these names remind me of a Reddit post I saw long ago of some bootleg Transformers statues in some mall, where Optimus was legit called... I kid you not...

    STAR LORD.

    Hi everyone!

My name is Robo-Synergy! First time here. Does anyone remember these?
Robo-Synergy by John Valmeo - Fighting and Invading Toys Complete.jpg
    The complete 17 collectibles.

    TOY INTRODUCTION:
This is my entry for weird and vintage transforming robot toys I own in my collection. Many think or describe them as KO's or Bootlegs, however in fact are actual original toy designs which is why I think they're really cool, fun, unique, oddities, and I love em!
The toys I'll be showcasing were made by a Taiwanese/Chinese toy company called CHAMPION CROWN formerly known as LEADER SHINE from 1986 and were inspired by the popularity of Hasbro - Transformers brand during that time and decided to do their own transforming robot toys which they had many types of releases but I'll be focusing on their transforming animal and insect robot toys. To my knowledge these were originally released in 1986-87 and there is 17 collectibles in the toy line series called V WORLD. There is 2 sides, the FIGHTING ANIMAL/INSECT (Good side) and INVADING REPTILE/INSECT (Evil side).

However not soon after, in the 1990s the molds were bought nad distributed by many different toy companies worldwide. I named 3 toy companies since these are very common ones that people are familiar with, those being:

Robo-Synergy by John Valmeo - TEK TOYS Logo.jpg TEK TOYS - ROBO series
Robo-Synergy by John Valmeo - Trendmasters Logo.jpg TRENDMASTERS - MASTERBOTIX series
And the list goes on in many other country releases with different series names.
For more information about the them, you can check out my blog dedicated to the toys at:
    ROBO-SYNERGY

    Ok, let's begin!

    THE TOYS:

First up is the cats, consisting of 5 collectibles in the group. Their names are either the alt mode names or english toy names: Cheetah (CHEETAN), Lion (SIMBA), Wild Cat (LYNX), Tiger (SARGE), and Black Panther (SLICK). There is 2 different mold variants for this group which I've included in the photo.

Second up is the reptiles, consisting of 4 collectibles in the group. Their names are either the alt mode names or english toy names: Chameleon (SQUIRM), Gila Monster (SKULK), Alligator, (GATOR), and Iguana (IGGY).

    Robo-Synergy by John Valmeo - Fighting Insect-Robo-Bugs-Winged-Bots - Toys.jpg
Third up is the good insects, consisting of 4 collectibles. Their names are either the alt mode names or english toy names: Mantis (REV), Butterfly (FLUTTER), Dragonfly (BUZZ), and Queen Bee (QUEEN BEE).

    Robo-Synergy by John Valmeo - Invading Insect-Robo-Invaders-Winged-Bots - Toys.jpg
Fourth up is the evil insects, consisting of 4 collectibles. Their names are either the alt mode names or english toy names: Fly (SWAT), Mosquito (BITE), Hornet (STING), and Moth (MOTH).

    TOY ARTWORK:

    OUTRO:
The downs are for some of these toys is the quality is very fragile and brittle, resulting in them being broke or broken, so please be extremely careful when handling them! And the toys never came with a back story which is unfortunate though that can come as a plus to use our own imagination and at least they came with toy names to help us create ideas for a story!
The ups are they are uniquely designed and memorable because of their distinguishable chrome painted head sculpts, chrome weapon accessories, vibrant colorful parted paint jobs, and that they are animal/insect themed.
The transformations and articulation for some are simple yet effective and for some others quite detailed.
I would sometimes find out that many owners had or have them mixed with their Transformers collection. They were either remembered, forgotten, or never known about and for what they are, they did or still can add some fun play value to your collection.
I certainly love them still and hold a special place for them in my Transformers display!

Well that's it, I hope you enjoyed it and if anyone has questions or want to talk about them, please feel welcome! Thank you!

    Best regards,
    Robo-Synergy
