While even if I disagree with them, I do understand why people dislike The Last Jedi. What I'll never understand is people who think it's a worse movie than Attack of the Clones. Rey may be a bit boring, but she's still massively more likable than "I hate sand and love fascism" Anakin was in that movie. I actually love Phantom Menace and Revenge of the Sith, but I absolutely cannot stand Anakin in ep2
Agreed. Everytime I watch AOTS, I skip past the showboat Anakin (riding a beast to impress Padme), and romance bits.
The only PT Anakin I like is the little kid in Phantom Menace. Lol. I never have liked Hayden in the Anakin role.
Canto Bight. Holdo. Luke’s character assasination. “We won’t win by destroying what we hate...” AOTC is a shitty movie, but TLJ is borderline insultingly stupid. You are, because I am impatiently waiting. It's beyond frustrating that we don't even have a hint that it's going to happen.
I grew up in the early 2000’s, so I saw the Prequels at the same time as OT. So to me, they were just as good. These days, I do favor the OT a little bit, but ROTS, and the Clone Wars will always be my favorite. That was my generation, basically.
Feels like what happened with RotJ. That was the "worst one", then the prequels hit and suddenly Ewoks weren't so bad. PT became the new "worst one", then the sequels hit and suddenly Jar Jar wasn't so bad. (It's like poetry, it rhymes.) Could be affected by time and nostalgia, or the cartoons, or the series genuinely finding new lows, or the evolving nature of discussion... probably a combination of all of the above. Curious to see if the ST ever gets a similar treatment. Though notably, whereas the OT and PT where cultural touchstones with an insane amount of supporting media, Disney seems to be already moving on from the ST. Like, 20 years from now there will undoubtedly be nostalgia for Rey and friends... but will they be household names like Vader and Maul, or decidedly more niche like Kyle Katarn or Prince Xizor?
They will. Because, like every other generation, there are kids & pre-teens who experienced Star Wars for the first time with these movies in theaters as they were released. Having themed sections of Disney parks doesn't hurt, either. And when they get older, they'll probably be dismissive of whatever new movies come out a decade from now. I've given up trying to justify one trilogy's merits over another's faults, they all (and I mean ALL) have them. I treat them they way I do my action figure collecting: Focus on what I personally like, and let others have fun with the things I don't like.
It does seem like a missed opportunity for Hasbro to not have a wave of BS figures based on CW ready to be released when the season started. I'd think when Disney started working on the season and if they told Hasbro then, it would be soon enough to get figures ready. Anakin Ashoka Rex - release Clone - simple repaint Mandalorian warrior CW Maul If I were Hasbro, I'd try to have a wave of figures ready each time a new series/season starts. So wave of Mandalorian figures ready by Season 2.
I was planning on skipping the retro figures, but I found the full wave at Walmart this morning. I grabbed Boba, Luke, Lando and Yoda.
It's because those kids are adults now and they're perfectly willing to defend the movies that were their childhood.
Do you guys that have both BS Archive X-Wing Luke and BS Snowspeeder Luke like 1 over the other and if so, why?
Yeah he was the swing party to vote Palpatine to have the extraordinary powers that lead to the Empire. It's all his fault, lol. Moral of the prequels is a bit shaky for me. Quigon saves two unfortunates Jar Jar and Anakin. JarJar is manipulated into requesting the special powers act be enabled because he was so concerned with looking intelligent and Anakin... Yeah, I think he turned out a bit off. Murdered a few thousand including innocent children. So the moral of the prequels seems to be, don't help others, they may turn out to be your doom. Oh and yeah, then Anakin kills an old man so that redeems him I admit, I may have the worst take on those movies and believe me, I'm a fan. I just find it amusing that all the good deeds done in the PT are what lead to the Empire. From a certain point of view
And _then_ there's a theory that he's a secret Sith manipulating the events that put Palpatine in power...
I like the originals, I enjoy the prequels, I loved the expanded universe so it will take time for me to get over their destruction for what we got, and for them to say the Skywalker saga is over but she takes their name in the end.....yeah I just ugh, it will take some time. I did enjoy Han Solo movie, but I didn't like that other one at all. It's hard to enjoy Star Wars with out the force front and center, at least with Han we had Lando and Chewbacca to make it interesting
Honestly, with how Disney and Hasbro dropped the ST stuff, especially in merch, the Clone Wars has a better shot in the Black Series. That seems more profitable.
*loved* tlj, best one since empire imo. but man tros came out and moved the postmark for shit star wars so far down the line i was like at least the prequels have ideas i like. black series jar jar would hit the spot right now.
