Just getting into Doom (1993) for PS4. I really hope the classic Wolfenstein 3D (1992) makes its way to PS4 like it did for PS3.

I preordered the TurboGrax 16 Mini, which is shipping now. I ordered an extra controller with it in the same order, but it looks like it either wasn't available on the 22nd like Amazon (NA) expected, or they only had a smaller stock for earlier preorders. Thankfully they're still shipping the system by itself. I'll just let the controller preorder sit for now.

What were the names of the hdmi SNES and NES cartridge playing consoles from 2 or 3 years ago? I know one of them was far more expensive than the other.

Analogue Super Nt (SNES), Nt (NES), and Nt Mini (NES again). The Nt and Nt Mini are the expensive ones. Mini is getting one last production run soon, but the preorders are already sold out. Super is currently out of stock, but expected to get as many runs as it needs.

Did they May 2020 stock/preorders sell out already or is it not yet up for preorder? (the article is dated May 9, 2020)

The black Super Nt consoles mentioned in the update were the stock they had left at the time. They've sold out and the preorders aren't up yet.

The Nt Mini won't be available again, but there's reason to believe they'll have a less expensive NES clone later on.

yeah they will probably put out a plastic nt with the weighted bottom plates like the super and mega eventually.

Ill happily take one of those and a turbo gx when they get around to it :D

lets get that analogue pocket out first tho!

What makes you certain? Did they hint at it somewhere?

There was a trademark registration awhile back for "Analogue 8" described in the application as a game console. Whatever that's going to be, it's likely delayed due to COVID-19 and the Nt Mini Noir, since the trademark was allowed to lapse. But it was definitely something they had planned, and there's only so many things it could be.

Does Analogue have a news email list I can get on or Facebook page so I can be automatically notified of news and and updates?

Sucks they're starting to kill off consoles now. I've yet to pull the trigger on anything due to the conversion/shipping but I'm pretty sure I'm going to get that Pocket. The Super NT is incredibly tempting and if they're going to discontinue that as well, I may have to grab it.

Picked up a Super Nintendo and an old TV for some retro gaming in the new man cave I'm building. The kids love it as well!

I had the mini classic versions but they just don't play the same

Yeah the mainstream official minis as of late are cool and but you are stuck with only whatever games are preloaded onto it. That's the main drawback IMO. I like the option to use cartridges, even on an HDMI enabled 3P console, so I can ensure that I can play WHATEVER games I want.

You can do that with the minis as well. I have all the games on them, I want to play. I even sold off my physical cartridges.

with the fpga systems being able to read sd cards with the roms on them, Im also thinking about cashing in within the next couple years. you are playing the carts digitally, and in their true form. there is no reason for me to hold onto the actual cart anymore besides sentimental reasons.

especially with the market going crazy for retro atm, its not hurting anything to wait a little longer to maximize a payday :lol

when the pocket comes out and is jailbroken for all portable systems, I really think it might be time to plot a liquidation.

I definitely got a lot more money for my cartridges, than I paid for them years ago. It's really crazy.

The Minis can be hacked, as long as you have the ROMs. I loaded the best 200 games (at least, according to me) onto my NES mini and I have them all hooked up to my downstairs big screen TV. They're great as an HDMI "emulator" plus you get a little bit of nostalgia seeing the smaller sized consoles laid out beside each other. I still have all my retro consoles and all the physical cartridges I own as a collector upstairs connected to a smaller TV.

Flash drives can be expensive but imagine owning every single game ever released for that one system and having them all at your fingertips, while being able to play on original hardware. Every region, every hack, every unreleased beta, and there's typically only a few that needed special chips and can't be played (at least until one of the programmers fix that too).

Cartridges also make for nice display items when you're not using them.
