MP used to be a definitive representation, with the likes of V2 Prime, Sideswipe, Wheeljack, etc being real cars with cartoony robots, not exactly accurate to the cartoon. MP is a scale, not a style. Most of the time, it's both, but it isn't necessary.

In G1, they were still the same vehicles though. Bumblebee is a volkswagen beetle, and he's still a beetle in the cartoon albeit with cartoony proportions.

Armada Megatron is supposed to have a fictional scifi tank mode, so making it look more real changes the design itself not just proportions/style, which doesnt make sense to me

Bumblebee's original MP and cartoon were VERY different, just recognizable as a beetle. Loosely. Megatron's tank here is still very cartoony and his original toy was loaded with surface detail the cheaper animation omitted. The biggest departure is the back being solid rather than a full H.

That's a very arbitrary repaint choice. Not that it doesn't sound cool, but I doubt many people are clamoring to buy Armada Megatron as G1 Megatron for FH to do it when they could do Galvatron and Megazarak repaints instead. Megatron's G1 colors are really easy to paint yourself, if you're willing.

We're finally getting a masterpiece Armada Megatron after years of nothing and people have to find a problem. They've already stated the design is not final, can we at least wait 6 months for further development before complaining?

Man, they really should have used that Megazarak scheme for the Combiner Wars Megatron.

My only problem is that I am still waiting for the G2 Megatron tank that has been backburnered forever.

It would be a poor substitute for the G2 design.

What FansHobby is offering here already looks off for its intended character. It has absolutely no resemblance to the G2 design.

If the design is not final it gives more reason to do that, so they can change it based on feedback. just because you dont agree with the criticism doesn't make it a complaint. this isnt your typical TF fan mindless complaining about already finalized hastak toys

Indeed, just check out their Overlord thread to see what constructive criticism can do for a figure that's in such an early stage.

That’s what excites me the most about this especially seeing how much their Armada Optimus has changed from the initial render to the preorder stage.

The original figure was going to be CHUG scale before enough people “complained” and they enlarged it to MP scale. Looks incredible even if not 100% accurate to the show.

I thought it was a Legendsish but changed because of TakTom's prototype revealed during that wonderfest

The render of the core bot of Optimus was shown to be roughly voyager scale and I believe this may have been literally just before the official prototype was revealed but I don’t remember so don’t quote me on that part.

Some people wanted it to be MP scale so they reworked the designs and announced it would be bigger, which honestly I’m personally grateful for because it’ll theoretically get the love that it deserves as will this Megatron. I would have loved CHUG versions though.

I wonder what they will name MB-17. Naval Commander for Optimus was creative.

My personal picks would be these although I know they’re lame and Fanshobby will come out with something way clever.

    MB-17 Naval Evil
    MB-17 Micron Demon

It was CHUG Scale, the thread was initially labeled "(Legends???)" because CHUG is all but forgotten in the 3P world and apparently the assumption was made that if it's any smaller than MP, it must be Legends scale.

Honestly, the change is kind of a disappointment for me because I think the Armada designs are simple enough to not need to be huge to have sufficient engineering, and might just be larger than they need to be, making them harder for them to make and harder for us to buy.

Nice, I bet they’ve got something really clever up their sleeve though. I didn’t expect Optimus to be Naval Commander in reference to Armada, never would have made that connection despite knowing the general use of that word.

I’d love to see new UT figures in CHUG scale but part of me thinks that getting the MP treatment MIGHT be the best thing for them since you can do a lot more with that kind of budget. Regarding the alt modes and transformations you’re right that they’re all relatively simple. I think they looked at the concept vehicles they made and then created the robot forms around them which is why they all look so clean and functional.

MP budget theoretically means they can dedicate more to gimmicks and extra pieces say for example minicons or Prime’s trailer. The downside is that it’s dangerous to have high prices since Armada isn’t generally a wider fan favourite unfortunately.

I really like Armed Tyrant. What about Naval Tyrant?

I think Naval Tyrant is very fitting since their Optimus is called Naval Commander. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what they end up going for.

It has a ring to it if I do say so myself, I think I might suggest it to them on their Facebook. I’ve been meaning to ask them if they might add the Mini-Con Over-Run to their Optimus as like a first production run exclusive too.
