I don’t know what to expect from this movie, but it wouldn’t shock me if the story & robots are completely different from the show.

i would agree if it was before they made bumblebee but now it seems paramount realized the profit to be made from having a heavier emphasis on nostalgia, it'll probably have the same cast, perhaps removing a few. as for the story it will probably not have much in common besides the main theme however i'm sure dinobot's arc will probably be one of the few stories from the show would be adapted even if they spread across another movie or 2

I kinda hope they are, if only so that I'm not constantly comparing it to the original.

Honestly it'd be for the best. You'd be hard pressed to condense Beast Wars' plot down to the runtime of a movie and keep it coherent, let alone retain that which would make BW worth adapting in the first place. If they were to try and go that route they'd wind up with yet another movie that has too much shit going on.

To be perfectly blunt I'm not exactly thrilled for this movie either way, but I feel like just going their own way with it would be the more sensible route.

Any good Maxies & Preds in mind? Those who appeared on the show and those who appeared as toys only. Plus maybe bring out a "Rodimus Primal" out of Cheetor!

A Beast Wars movie is never gonna happen. Paramount will never finance it.

I’ve heard of BW but god forbid they actually make a live action movie about it. They’d be better off putting their money in a Bumblebee sequel.

FWIW, I heard the same said about Transformers in general when rumours of the first Bay movie started.

A Beast Wars movie means no humans. Just the Transformers characters. Just Autobots and Maximals. The most Paramount and Hasbro has ever been willing to do with the robots on their own was the five minutes of footage in Bumblebee.

    History speaks for itself.

    It's not pessimism. It's reality.

You know, some also said that a Sonic the Hedgehog film or even a Lego movie would never work, and look how those turned out

I mean...they made one good LEGO movie. The others were trash. LEGO Movie 2 bombed. Ninjago bombed.

Sonic The Hedgehog was just above mediocre. Was hardly a masterpiece.

Also look at the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Almost the entire film as set on Earth and had Sonic stuck in a truck or interacting with humans most of the time.

Do you really think Paramount is going to finance a $200 million+ Beast Wars movie with NO HUMANS for the Transformers to interact with? So it's prehistoric Earth. No humans. NO LIVE ACTORS. Just robots interacting with each other and getting developed. That wouldn't be cheap either.

They still got made, though. Sonic is even getting a sequel.

Also, yeah, big budget animated movies happen all the time. What’s so different here?

Not necessarily. If it's a live-action movie (which is what the articles claim), humans will almost surely be involved. It could involve humans time traveling to prehistoric times, or maybe they'll be cavemen. Although a more likely scenario would be that they'll modernize the setting and put it on a forgotten island or in the jungle or something like that.

I think it's safe to use the 2007 movie as a precedent for what to expect. The 2007 movie was a loose live-action adaptation of the G1 cartoon story (mostly the 3 part pilot), with more focus put on the human element. I would strongly guess the Beast Wars will follow the same strategy (unless they decide to make it a fully animated movie instead).

Isn't the point of going all animated, no humans that it would be cheaper?

Then it's not a Beast Wars movie. Why are the humans going back in time?

I'll believe a live action Beast Wars movie when I see it. Apologies to Beast Wars fans, which includes myself, but right now I think there is a 0% chance of one happening.
