Speaking of Guncannons...I hope Bandai release more Gundam the origin kits...their HG Zaku IIs are amazing! I would like that version of the Guncannon which eventually had a 5 finger upgrade (for each hand)...Gouf, Dom, Gelgoog...I will buy them all!
I call Origins kits "RG Lite" because they seem to balance HG construction with RG detail. Amusingly, I have yet to actually get a true Origin Zaku II. Origin RD-4 Zaku High Mobility Test Type (Dom Test Type with Zaku Head)? Yup. Zaku Cannon Test Type? Yep. MSV Act Zaku? Yup. A green Zaku of any kind? NOPE! Well, there is the Guncannon revive, but at the same time, there's literally nothing stopping you from taking a Guncannon Test Type and giving it normal hands since the wrist sockets are standardized. Man, they are just cranking Evas out lately. I wonder when they'll get around to EVA 05. Where are you finding these kits? I need to know!
I have both RG and HG Exia and I can't wholly recommend either one. The HG is pretty old, had things like single jointed elbows and ball joint hips, but the R2 at least enhances it a bit by adding an extra hip swivel. The RG on the other hand is one I can recommend with a caveat because the front skirts limit the forward kick quite significantly.
Easiest solution is rattle can rustoleum spray. @Autobot Burnout, I'm not too surprised really. Khara is getting their decades owed merchandising for the series as much as possible. So it looks like they're going for all the main units. There's even a teaser for Unit 03. So expect action parts for the extra arms and maybe the angel infected entry plug, and most likely this means a P.Bandai unit 04 with the silver injection. - I finally got my RG Unit 01 the other day but it's been a few long days farmwise, so I haven't gotten much of anything done like I wanted on any projects . I did manage to build the RG Eva's pallet gun. Detailing as I go, I might put some more paint to this once I've gotten further into the Eva itself.
The small parts on Mg 1/100 00 QanT make me wish I had swung for 1/60. Not sure how related the two kits are. I’m almost done with my first painted gundam, custom weapons are next.
I'm what you might call an "extreme novice" but I'm still fairly proud of this little Zeke I painted up.
Not a bad start! I would recommend thinning your paints in the future, but for a self-professed novice that's really well done!
Full disclosure is that I did thin them quite a bit.. The main body pieces ended up with an extra coat because I over-thinned my original main color and then ran out of it... But thanks, I learned a ton!
Not gonna lie, I just take the front skirts off whenever I display it with one leg forward. I also took out the hip clips for the seven sword. I honestly wouldn’t mind a RG Elia 2.0 if it just fixed the skirts. I’ve tried cooking up mods to fix them myself but I can’t think of anything that doesn’t look like shit. TBF it’s less the hip skirts and more the hips themselves being unable to drop down. Also, not specifically Gunpla, but I need to take rustoleum paint off Transformers parts. Can I soak them in 91% alcohol or would that risk damaging the plastic?
No pics for now, but I'm almost done with building my HG AGE-2 Double Bullet. I don't know if it's just my copy but for some reason even just build straight OOB, the joints on my Double Bullet seems to be tighter than my AGE-2 Normal despite being the joint parts being almost identical. It's not a bad thing per se, but it's just bizarre. Other than that, the build went quite smoothly. I still has quite a number of leftover clear sticker decals from my previous builds, so I see if I could use them to spice up the finished build for a bit. Another thing I'll mentioned however, is that the color separation on this kit is quite impressive for a HG, even by today's standard. Aside from a few foil stickers for things like the glowing "A" chest emblem, front/rear camera, eyes, etc; you can pretty much get a fully color accurate 1/144 scale AGE-2 Double Bullet straight OOB: (The image from above is pretty much everything you get for foil stickers) For a HG kit from 2012, this is quite impressive (and it's still pretty good even by current HG kits standard, especially when compared to something like the HG Gusion Rebake FC) Of course there's still a tad bit painting left to do if you want it to look perfect, like the inner side of the calf missile launchers; But still, it's still better than some other HGs which do still has a lot of missing colors even with all of the foil stickers applied.
Not sure specifically about Gundam kits but I'd say there's a pretty high chance of that doing some kind of damage to the plastic. Nothing say, acetone would, but I bet it's soften and might warp some of your plastics.
Yeah, that's what I originally started buying Super Clean for, but it works equally well as a non abrasive paint stripper that won't hurt the plastic unlike most thinners or strippers would. Depending on what kind of paint, and how long it's been dry will determine how long you soak parts in it. Dried paint (acrylic and enamel) takes a few days to really loosen up, or if it's fresh paint it only needs a few hours. I take it your lady friend has the Guncannon or did you two build them together? Gunpla Date Night?
