Update 27/7/2020 : MTMTE- Ships and Conversion Kits & SIDE TRACK PROJECTS

I've left this thread quiet for a month, it's been a busy month, trying to create transformable characters from MTMTE. I've had such fun doing those but sometimes I get distracted by an idea in my head, and I get sidetracked. These are smaller projects that would come out more frequently and I didn't want to start new threads to share them. So I'm reviving this old thread. These side track projects will go up to thingiverse and Cults for free as they take less time to make and well, Rung here is to make up for Rung 2.0's lack of the ability to transform...

A week ago I finished my version of MTMTE Rewind, I loved how he could fold up into a compact thing and thought that was what I was trying to do with my Rung 2.0.

    Heavy/Scratch: - MTMTE/ Lost Light Rewind and Chromedome 2.0

Yet back then I didn't understand the tolerance of the resin from my printer and there were parts I couldn't print so I don't exactly know if it works... I took the Rewind mold, scaled it up, retooled it, and came up with a Rung 3.0.

    RUNG NEW POSTER.jpg

I did a print of him, but I ran out of white paint so he looks Very Very Incredibly rough. I'm not proud of it, but with the cases spiking again it's not that safe to go out and get more white paint. Turns out MTMTE Bots eat up white paint FAST.

    Here are the results:

    IMG_6089.JPG

Here's Rung, assembled, badly painted with the long overdue update on my painted Titans Returns Rodimus in his Lost Light colours. RUNG 3.0 is more similar to Battle Master Rung, that because of transformation and tolerance, his proportions were sacrificed for transformation. But Rung 3.0 turned out ok. He stands at around the same height as Rung 2.0.

    ALT MODE

    IMG_6077.jpg

Again, he's badly painted, more apparent than ever when held closer, the grey parts in his alt mode detach to form his scooter. They slot in in 2 places in his alt mode. There's also a 3mm port in the middle of the circle which allows this:

    IMG_6094.JPG

I'm thinking of integrating a small piece at the end of the alt mode to make his overall look slimmer and more accurate to the comics. As now, he's Rung but mangled. Still I'm pretty happy with him at the moment despite the paint and his ability to incorporate his Battle Masters Effect piece for a floating Matrix.

Once I manage to get some white paint and paint him up, I'll do an update on him. There's another side track in progress, between Tailgate (90% complete) and Swerve and Brawn (not started), there's IDW Ratbat as seen in MTMTE's sister series Robots in Disguise. I like his design there so I'll be working on a small non transforming Ratbat.

More to come on this old thread.

    The Lost Light:

    The Lost Light (Pic Heavy)

Recently I've had to time to get started on 3D modelling, and having always wanted a full MTMTE/ Lost Light cast display, I did a few models in Fusion 360...

First Up, the Lost Light herself. I've seen fantastic customs of the ship around here and decided to give it a try as well. I tried to make it as accurate as possible, digging for the panels where there's the underside. If printed actual size it has a 3mm port on the bottom for a flight stand.

    The Lost Light.jpg

After managing to create a few models, I went and got myself an Anycubic Photon S printer, while i wasn't able to print it full size, I think the details came out alright.

    IMG_3988.jpg

    29BAF80A-98ED-402F-AECD-0C9150E5AC81.jpg

Now the spikes and the body print as separate pieces, and is attached afterwards, but when printed I realised they don't fit as well as I wanted. Once I've fixed this issue the STL files for the Lost Light should be uploaded to Thingiverse.

The print will be primed and painted later on tonight.

One Rod Pod coming up. This one I didn’t print it to scale to the Lost Light but it turned out nice as well.

The Lost Light and the Rod Pod are now being painted. Found out there’s enough space in both of them to accommodate a clap for a flight stand. C00BC664-E934-4BEC-8122-2E32FBF7B0E2.jpeg

The Lost Light is mostly done, just need to paint that main thruster on the bottom and the Rod Pod needs a black wash on the silver bits.

    6B8F33EF-BF39-4C88-B0B6-9A2E4EB00A45.jpeg

Might print a Rod Pod that’s to scale soon. Plus the bottom image contains a hint of the first conversion kit of the thread...

    Conversion Kit #1-
Titans Return Ravage to MTMTE Ravage

    92B17287-0CA9-48BF-A7A8-F4327EEA9521.jpeg

(Printed with Scoronok’s tail as a stand in)

The Missile launchers are ones pre made by Rodentpete on Thingiverse.
G1 Transformers Ravage Missile by Rodentpete

I love the MTMTE Ravage design and I’ve always used the Titans Return Legends Class one in the display. One day I returned home to find his head had gone missing, so I started making him a new one.

    52602DF4-E22A-4B90-A2B9-ED8965C3460A.jpeg

His ears aren’t that accurate at the moment, I’ve realised after looking at it more and more but fixing it is in progress.

A neck joint has been added to the head to fit into Titans Return Ravage’s head slot, it’s just frictioned in. The back spike portion wraps around his waist.

A long tail has been created to fit over that numb of a tail on the original toy. His leg details are replicated by slotting the prints into the holes conveniently located at the side of each leg.

    FF38FEB5-0874-47AF-82D8-2EA23B54C533.jpeg

Mostly painted up in grey, but that's just my preference as it brings out more of the details. More pics will come after it is painted up with the crew.

Thanks! I would be making more ships, or even alt modes of the Lost Light Crew. If there's any stand out ship from the series that you would recommend, please let me know!

For now, the next chapter of the thread is something more 'live-action More than Meets the Eye'-y...

    HERE'S A HINT

LOL Don't get me started on ships... But I'd like to see if possible, the Quintesson ships from the old G1 cartoon as well as Galvatron's ship. And if you're looking for a challenge, I say both the Knight ship and the epic Creator's ship from Age of Extinction, because although the films have been flawed, the designs have been amazing. I'd also kill to see a perfect replica of a G1 tetrajet alt mode.

    Will he transform?
And for ships maybe the Peaceful Tyranny of the DJD:
    Or the Nemesis:
    Tf Prime
    [IMG]
    Cyberverse
    [IMG]
Or a Decepticon Worldsweeper that would also be the Scavengers' ship:

Or the ships of the Decepticon Vengeance Division:

Any of the decepticon ships from IDW would be cool to see too.

To be honest, I’ve always wanted to do a few Decepticon Worldsweepers, I remembered what they looked like but didn’t remember what they’re called. That’s on the next up list then.

And so far the ‘Live Action Rodimus’ was meant to be a conversion kit for TLK Deluxe Hot Rod but my resin printer doesn’t like small pegs and tabs so for now I’m focusing on making it a bust.

Might even make a small Tailgate as a stand for the Rod Pod.

    Cheers!

These are badass! Just a suggestion with that Rodpod there you could fudge perspective with the Rodpod at that scale by putting it slightly in front of the Lost Light so it just looks like it's much closer to the camera and not out of scale :D

You know, upon seeing them side by side like that the Peaceful Tyranny looks a LOT like the TF Prime Nemesis!  I never noticed that before.

With the Lost Light, Rod Pod and Ravage done, I was eager to take on another ship, and as decided, it's a Decepticon Worldsweeper. This one I took some liberties of my own, while trying to keep as close to the pattern of the panels from the comics, I wanted the outside of the ship to have more raised panels and trenches, with it being so big, I only imagined it to be the outside of the Death Star...

This is only the top and bottom sides of the ship, the middle grey/ silver part will probably be done today. Coloured purple and green. Now that I look at it, the Worldsweeper's essentially just a large Decepticon Sandwich.
    Worldsweeper face.jpg

I got impatient and printed out both sides, doing a test paint on the different raised platforms. While I like the different shades of purple, I might go back to a solid light purple and panel lining it, which would bring it to look closer to the Lost Light.
