Seems like The Chosen Prime and Toy Dojo are out, too. TFSource has both DK13 and DK14 in stock, though. Price has gone up a bit since I got mine, but I guess that's to be expected since shipping from China has gone way up.

 

That's a QC failure and would require newly molded parts. Obvious rush job without proper testing.

I fixed ours by lightly scuffing surfaces and using 5 minute epoxy as a more permanent fix.

Alternatively, one could very carefully sand / file off some material from the inside of the clip claw to see if it will release better.

Since jumping back into collecting in February, I have pretty much completed my Siege collection, or at least as much as I want to. Last things I needed were Skywarp and GUOP. Been waiting weeks for a price drop on GUOP, and finally got him $7 off on Amazon, and then turned around and grabbed the upgrade from ebay for nearly $40 after taxes and shipping.

I blame the pandemic.

I didn't buy the leg parts and afte discussing it with the other half. Just over &70 for both is more than we can afford right now even though i want ther badly. i was also infored had tab that needed paying on so I'll just have to wait and they drop in price and don't sell out either.

 

Mine came in too. Mostly want the fillers and weapons, but I’ll give the legs a shot.

OK I flipped the clips and now when I transform him from vehicle mode the clips are yanked out of the new legs.

 

Same as mine. I use glue for the c clips.
Maybe not good for the plastic but we'll see



I like that my galaxy upgrade optimus prime a bit taller than the other primes now (voyager scale). With his new height and new weapons to me he's like a big tall viking prime

 

Got mine today for Magnus and while having to glue the front panels on the shins kinda sucked after i did it there havent been any issues whatsoever! Hes so solid and i love being able to extend his legs in both of his robot modes. In my opinion he should have had legs like this from the beginning. I think the wheels could have been handled better but they do the job. Having two sets in the front definitely helps fill in the gaps of his vehicle mode.

Had to do this mod on mine - and thank you for posting it, because the kit was barely usable without it. (One thing to note: if you go with the screw, it needs to have a very flat head, otherwise it collides with the blue truck sides. I had to file the heads on mine flatter for it to fit without bending the plastic.)

I enjoy doing this kind of fix up work, but it must really suck for people who don't have the tools, or aren't comfortable cutting/drilling/gluing their figures. You should be bale to buy a product and have it work as advertised without doing skilled modifications.

Agreed. The hammer is perfect size for small magnus but its way too small for the armored up mode. Ill have to see about going back and getting one of the Dr Wu hammers.

 

QC is just awful. The thigh/hip pieces aren't even molded correctly and won't sit properly in alt mode (which is why the back tabs on the legs aren't aligned). 5 minute epoxy will last longer than (super)glue, so don't be surprised if the glue breaks and the pieces come off again. I rough sanded the surfaces for epoxy first to allow the adhesive to grip better.

This kit was not designed for modders only, yet it ended up being that way.

I'm having major annoyances with all their generations kits so far with DK-13 being the worst. Predaking was the least annoying. I didn't think I was going to buy another DNA kit until I saw their SS Shockwave post.

Both weapons are too small. I can sort of understand for GUOP since it was meant for storage but not for UM. The hammer is actually the right size for Earthrise Cliffjumper.

 

I ended up using methyl-ethel ketones (sold as "Plastic Weld") to hold the shin panels and clips on. It actually melts the plastic so it bonds with itself, which I'm hoping will be strong enough.

That said, I also ended up shaving the clips down as they were poorly aligned and way too tight for alt mode; since I did JSaotome's peg mod for the leg armor, the clips themselves aren't really needed in robot mode so making them even looser works fine.

 

Preordered the 14-N from The Chosen Prime, got an email almost a week ago that it was almost ready to ship. Hopefully the boots stay on better this time...but after both 13 and 14 kits, I am just kidding myself.

 

You have to mod it. That's the only way. Sucks, but there it is.

 

Although I do like the upgrade kit, I feel like they should have ditched the wheel moving mechanic, and just made a leg which folds/rotates into itself like siege megs or shockwave.

Also, JSaotome's leg mod is genius, going to do it on my magnus.

I do have both 13 and 14, but selling my optimus with the upgrade kit as I want the ER Optimus.

 

Absolutely. That moving wheel compromises the whole thing; it prevents them from having the small tab below the knee that helps hold the leg armor on the stock legs.
