Part of me almost thinks it wasn't originally designed to transform, but they realized how aerodynamic the chest was with the wings and said "fuck it that shit sells."
Even for someone who do like the Victory Gundam MS designs, I find the transformation feature on those designs to be kinda silly and feels shoehorned-in just because "it's cool". With the various Victory Gundam kits, I'll argue that the best of them all are currently the HGUC version, where they just straight up abandoning any attempt of "transformation" in flavor of a more solid, posable robot.
Short of likely higher priced secondary market like eBay or specialty shops, P-Bandai generally is only produced to order and if you miss out on a production run, your only real choice is to wait until Bandai makes it again if you don't want to pay through the nose. Believe me, I've been waiting for years for the Efreet Kai EXAM Custom to be offered again.
Ambroid O-Scale Payroll Car, Part 7: Due to a measuring error, five of the window openings ended up too long and I had to use fill material - one has a piece of discarded wood while the others have styrene strips. It's not the best but as the cuts themselves are not 100% square, I'm hoping to use either wood putty or wood filler (don't know which would be better yet) to cover up the fill material as well as the gaps around the metal cast windows. An additional problem is that one of the glue joins on the right long wall failed and a window crosses it so I had to stop cutting for the day while the clamps hold the walls together straight for the glue to dry. I got the left outside wall and the left inset wall done window wise - the door frame needs a little more sanding on the top but the thin part on the left snapped off because the cuts ended up along the "plank" details. It glued back together fine but I don't want to touch it until the glue fully dries. I did also take the opportunity to rectify a few issues with the core frame itself. Testing where the inset wall door will eventually sit, the inside strip didn't line up quite correctly, so I cut the offending nub and glued it on the other side to act as support for the fragile wall section when the time comes to glue that in, and now the door will have a perfect fit. I also used balsa wood lengths to construct additional upper beam supports to reinforce the finicky corner blocks so ensure those are squared off for glueing the walls on later, and the long lengths will reinforce the walls as well as provide support for the roof (which I'm still debating if I will design for removal or not due to the way specific parts of the inset overhang has to be layered to support the upper trim, leaning towards not partially because it's in the original spirit of the design and would likely have been how my great uncle would have built it). None of the balsa is secured yet as I want the walls to be completely cut and finished for testing - no point gluing the balsa now only to find out the support internally isn't as perfect as it can be.
I just bought a couple of Revive kits, intending to send one to a friend to see if she’d be into Gunpla. With that in mind, which do I send her: the Guncannon or the Gouf?
Honestly? Guncannon. The Gouf takes some appreciation of what Mobile Suits are to really comprehend given it only has one actual "hand" while the other is a gun shaped like a hand. Guncannon is a robot with two shoulder cannons and a rifle. Its honestly kind of generic but it makes an excellent entry point to the hobby. Just make sure they have sprue nippers.
I need recommendations for paint to use with a full-sized sword hilt since this is the thread I know handles paints a lot. It has to bond to metal and stay on despite being handled by hands a lot. Looking for matte black, bright red, and some copper orange colors.
You guys think it’d be worth it to go in on one of the Nippon Baseball HG kits? Which one? Nice! How do you like it?
With my RE/100 Gundam GP04 done, now it's time to build my HG Gundam AGE-2 Double Bullet... For someone who has already built the HG AGE-2 Normal, the assembly of the torso is completely identical here. I did bring out some paint and painted the inner side of the yellow vent pieces on the torso, as well as both the forehead "dots". It's by no means something like a MG, but for a basic, mid-tier 1/100 scale gunpla the RE/100 Gundam GP04 is pretty decent with some awesome accessories like the Stürm Booster and ,Long Range Beam Rifle. I'll mention that just with a OOB build, the color accuracy of the RE/100 Gundam GP04 isn't the greatest (Especially with the Stürm Boosters which are just hollow, flat white pieces assembled together with no color separation on the grey parts at all when built OOB), and if you really want to make the kit looks as good as possible you'll need to do some painting or panel-lining on the kit itself. Instead of using the included color-correcting foil stickers on the Stürm Booster, I went and painted the Stürm Booster with some grey paint and masking tape. The base kit by itself is perfectly fine, but keep in mine that the OOB build isn't the best when it comes to color accuracy on some parts.
Took me more or less about two months, but Perfect Grade Exia is DONE. Usually decals goes on after the model is assembled, but I went ahead and apply them before assembled them into the exterior armor, since those accent dashes are a pain in the butt to put on, I'm proud that I only lost one of those decal (they have extra in case) while applying them. Here it is with the PG 00 Gundam (when is PG Qan[T] coming out, lol). Finally, Trans Am!
