I'm in a dilemma now. I'm about to order Generations Selects Star Convoy, but I want more articulation. One thing I prefer about the official is the more dynamic looking head. I hope this 3P will still revise the face tesembling the official's V fin and ears pointing outwards.

 

The problem with Generations Selects Star Convoy is that it looks like G1 Optimus with a different head and chest. MMC's is a bit stylized, but at least it's intended to be Star Convoy from the start and not a hasty retool.

Fuck, I forgot all about this and just ordered a GS Star Convoy off of Mandarake. The official version is solid (I'd never actually handled the Evolution Leader mold before, it's kinda fun) and I appreciate the remolding that went into it. The only bad thing on mine is the ankles are really loose. I'll probably order this MMC version anyways though, whenever it actually happens.

 

I‘ve had the same problem with the head since this was first revealed. I think they did do some revisions based on the last batch of photos that were posted, but it’s still not 100%. Other than that everything else about this figure is just about as perfect as possible.

To be fair takara's is only like 9 inches or so. Shorter than mp10.

I do wish the cannons on the shoulders had ball mounted barrels instead of the pinned hinged. All that fire power directly hindered by whatever way his arm is pointing seems silly.

 

So this is gonna be 15 or 16 inches

I think I'm down for a nemesis repaint on this. I don't have much interest in the base bot but I think he'd look great rocking the darker scheme. Has anyone attempted a recolor of what that would look like?

I've also been thinking that a non combining stylized Onslaught could be a fun remold idea requiring just a small amount of effort to pull off. The truck cab that becomes the robot mode arms are good as is with the elbow windshield and tiny tires on the inside of the forearms. The chest and head are hidden inside the alt mode so they can easily be remolded. The robot backpack already becomes the top of the truck trailer and just needs remolded to have two big ol' cannons.

 

Man I can’t stop staring at those hands. I hope they can do some good pointing forwards.
