To hell with it. It doesn't really make a difference. The crack probably won't get any bigger now that pressure has been taken off it. It needed that tiny bit of flex.

More annoying than that is seeing Takara's quality get worse as their prices become more & more insane.

This is a very common misconception of Takara. Takara was never about better QC. When people talk about "old Takara" having "better quality," it's generally referring to the more paint apps or special "bling" that a figure might have. Take for instance Titans Return Blurr and Takara Legends Blurr. You can even go older than that. Look at the example of 2006's Classics figures and then the Henkei figures. Henkei often sported more paint apps than Hasbro's Classics takes, had chromed parts, and were cartoon accurate paint jobs vs. toy accurate of Hasbro.

THAT is the Takara quality that the vast majority of people tend to refer to. I have had Henkei and Classics in the past and as far as actual QC goes, they were never too different as far as I could tell.

Yup. When it comes to "bling" hands down Takara rocks! Material longevity and stability........that's where it goes down hill. Buuuuuuuuuuuut, not confined on them big buddy! Old Yamato also sucked bigtime in their QC. Same with CMS. Bandai SoC, I have one figure, Minerva X having the same Cosmic Rust issues on her joints. Like MP-05.

That's just it, actually. The good news with plastic like Tentakil's is that it's flexible, meaning the crack won't get any bigger now that it has the wiggle room to hold the peg.

He looks great but man is he a bear to pose. Some things floor polish just cant fix lol. Overbite makes a better cane than he does a gun. I think I may actually prefer this set in their individual robot modes.

So, You know those 2 pieces of totally useless plastic on the bottom of the swords? How do you feel about them? Poor design?

They were really bugging me so I went ahead & sanded them off with my Dremel. The only purpose they really serve is to stop the figure from being able to hold the swords properly.

I got my second Overbite today. I love the double cannons on his back.

So interesting question / observation. I am starting to think that the batches for Hasbro and Takara Seacons were made at different times. I picked up a Takara Tentakil and a Hasbro Pulse one and the Hasbro one has a number printed (#F0455) on the inside of his leg where as the other side has it molded to say 00591. Takara does not have it printed but rather molded in where the other was painted (very lightly actually hard to tell, B1020) and nothing on the other leg. Also the hole for the footpeg on the Takara one is much looser than the Hasbro. I confirmed with another two member one who had the Hasbro and one with the Takara and they noticed the same thing about the peg hole and printed number. Can you guys who have a loose peg hole tell me if you have the Takara or Hasbro pulse version.

The beast and weapon modes work just fine, but the leg mode and robot mode have issues. (I didn't really try the arm, I did form it but never connected it because I thought it looked "meh".) His arms pop off at the shoulder if I breathe heavy, the hips are loose and he'll do the splits if I don't pose him just right. Forming the backpack? Flat on his @$$. So, much like the Moonracer/Novastar/Greenlight/Lancer version, I leave it down like a skirt or a train dangling off of the back. No ridiculous backpack (just "wings") and he has a tripod configuration so he doesn't fall over backward, completely, if posed just so...

Mine is a Hasbro Pulse one. The foot stays in nice and tight and the peghole assembly doesn't swivel freely and he's pretty tight in certain configurations. It's weird how one mode is limp as a noodle, another is actually quite solid. I'll take a look for a number later when I transform them out of combined mode.

My Tentakill is from Hasbro Pulse, no issues. Peg hole is tight and nothing is loose.

I have one in my stack from TFSource, so it will be interesting to compare once I have it in hand.

My Tentakil's foot peg is not loose and holds hand/feet fine. Ordered from Hasbro Pulse.

Can someone point to a single post that sums up what pegs need sanding? I don't mind having to do it so long as I know which ones I'm doing.

I dont think there has been a summary post. I remember people saying the foot hole for gulf was tight (i think, he is an arm on mine so dont know for sure). I had to sand down the pegs on overbites gun. My overbite has some really tight holes. The hole on the trident piece that came with Tentakil is too tight (or the peg on Overbites sword was too big) and cracked for me so I sanded out the hole some to hopefully prevent any further cracking.

I haven’t had anything crack for me, and will probably keep him in combined mode (with Overbite as the back-piece) in perpetuity. Knowing others had issues, I was so incredibly ginger with mine, it took me at least an hour to put him fully together and on the shelf. Besides some typical looseness in his thighs and in Tentakil’s peg-hole, I think all-in-all, this guy is a fantastic addition to my collection!

With my experience, all I needed to sand was Lobclaw's foot peg and Tentakil's sword hole.

If you have floor polish or anything else to tighten parts, however I definitely recommend using it on...
    • the peg connecting Lobclaw's tail/gun to the same foot port,
    • Tentakil's leg mode port,
    • the hips and knees of whoever you're using as arms,
    • the small pegs connecting Turtler's shield to King Poseidon's chest,
    • the connection holding KP's thumbs in place, and
    • Turtler's bicep/KP's thigh swivel

You might be onto something. Might be different factory sections in Vietnam. One for JP/Asia and one for HBPulse. But using different material? We can only speculate.
