Neither is bad by any means, but the new one does look much more refined and elegant to me, with the resculpted bits and beige swapped from blue. One of the few times missing out an a release has worked in my favor.

For the people that have Re-Edit in hand, are there any differences in the tolerances between it and the previous Drift variants or are they basically identical? Wing when it first came out had extremely tight thigh rotation which the subsequent mold variations had fixed. Is the mold still holding up?

I have 9 copies of the mold including Wing and none of them have over tight thighs and all work perfectly.

Close. It is about the same as most Voyagers. 30th Springer is about the same scale.

God, I'm so tempted to pick this up for the sake of mold completion. Which is a dangerous drug.

Got my Re-Edit of Drift incoming from BBTS. Really excited for him! Also managed to find a listing for a custom cloak/cape for him on eBay, snagged the last one. Definitely will get images up once I get the latter in.

You're gonna love it! Great figure all around and has some good range in the articulation department.

I love the mold and I have Wing and Deadlock but I can't decide to get Drift for ONE major reason.
To me, the re-run is lacking tons of color at least there should be much more RED at plenty of places.

And I don't belong to the "MMC: use more color - in general"-people.
Also, I like that MMC is doing things their way and I never minded too much that Boreas/Cyclonus looks much more pale than he should look. For Drift, I feel different though.

I think it's a real miss that the re-colored still looks more or less like taken out of the first Drift mini-series right from panel 1.
It's basically a re-run of the same figure with slightly more accentuation and that's okay - but it doesn't convince me to purchase it.

Nearly all later comic appearances of Drift in MTMTE and Lost Light use Alex Milne's version that's a rather equal mix of red and white.
That would be a drift that I would buy without any second thought! Sad that among all the cool asterisk versions (hell, there is even a deadpool-Drift) not one of them looks like the character does in the majority of the comic pages...
But that's maybe just me - still a lovely mold!

I'm sure you could fix this with a red panel line marker for Gunpla if you really wanted. I like that Toyhax stickers have the red "energon" veins for some figures though.

I once attempted applying the Alex Milne s2 deco to our Drift mold and it was a visual disaster it looked so terrible. The sculpting is completely ill suited to to that design as Drifts bodies changed radically between his three forms. The hard fact of the matter is mmcs design is based on a very specific iteration of the character and I had to be true to that source material where he is overwhelmingly white and grey with minimal red striping.

Yes, Drift does look better with more color and less white but that's just not what mmcs toy was made to be. I prefer the characters s1 mtmte look myself but eh once again mmcs mold is incompatible with its design.

One of the core tenants of good tf making in general is having your deco be complimentary to your sculpt, the two aspects of design going hand in hand for a unified goal is the key to making them look good. When you slap any random palette of any character design on to a mold that wasn't intended for it you can get some pretty piss poor results.

    Thanks northernautobot!
I usually try to avoid to color my (expensive) 3P figures. Only once, with Deadlock, I used a black Gunpla pen for the "eyebrows" and I don't regret it since he now truly looks the way...
But for Drift, I'm not sure, this would require spray paint and taking the figure apart and as LazyAza just pointed out, it may still look like shit (to me) as the mold probably just doesn't do with the red...But thanks anyways! And I didn't know the Toyhax stickers - will check them out!
