If I was buying one figure or on a more limited budget, I might maybe be on the same page. It seems to me that resources are not spread equally across the wave - Hoist and Wheeljack seem larger than normal, and Cliffy likely helped facilitate that a bit. In no way does it make him a bad figure IMO, despite my frustration with his back peg and lack of a chest symbol.

I'm not sure if it helps, but I had the same issue on the first Transformation, I could not get the black connector to swivel out to connect in robot mode after my first transformation to car mode and had to use a tool to pry it out. However, after the second transformation, there's a detent on the black piece where it rotates around on the trunk and before it becomes a peg, and using a fingernail after that first transformation, it was loosened up enough to swing it out with that on the transformations since.

Ditto. It’s gotten easier to do with each transformation. It was awful the first time, but is quite manageable now.

Suggestion: The gun part from Soundwave that unfolds into something akin to a staff, plug it into the bottom ot eh hammer and have him hold it two handed. Magnus hammer-style smashing!

Partsforming like this is really poor craftsmanship design wise. His paint job is so luxurious, but the "shield" is disappointing to me on a level I didn't expect.

Emgo now has a video of an upgrade that permanently attaches the backpack for anyone who still dislikes the partsforming.

Hopefully this quells the nay-sayers, then. I don't really find it that partsformer-y considering all they were trying to cram into his size, but I realize this is something that somehow divides the base, so to speak.

Megatron partsforms. Apeface partsforms. Magnus partsforms. Shockwave partsforms. Refractor partsforms. Only Cliffjumper gets the complaints though.

Because it' a massive hunk of vehicle mode that doesn't feel like an actual accessory. All those other figures' partforming were guns, shields and pieces of armor for an upgraded robot mode.

This is just the back-end of a car that can sort of be a shield if you squint at it.

I like the idea of bumping Legends scale characters up to the Deluxe price point. But the expected trade off is over shadowed by a third of the Alt mode becoming a combination of shell-forming, parts-forming, and backpack tropes.

I still like the Idea and would like to see an iteration of Gears result from this.

Both of Cliffjumper's modes are what you would want but the transformation is more G1 Seeker than anything that would impress you mechanically.

I picked this little bot up today; I have to say, the transformation is fairly complex for such a little figure. The sculpt is good, paint well done and the weapon is pleasing. As with the rest of the line, the size is disapointing, but I needed a Cliffjumper for my collection. I'm pretty pleased with him!

Thanks to a visit to a friend, he's got his stomach badge now. (unfortunately due to a medication I'm on, I have minor hand tremors and I never had steady hands to begin with, and he's a former watchmaker who enjoys the challenge whenever I have reprolabels to affix or more challenging mods that I'd like done)

I hate to say it, but this figure has, um, what's the opposite of grown on me, withered on me?

Every time I transform it, I like it less.

I finally bought this figure. It's ok for what it is, just doesn't wow me or give me a bang for my buck kinda thing. His bazooka doesn't impress me either.

This is a fun toy that is definitely not worth $20.

He's tiny but they made sure he's still bigger than any recent Legends Class / Scout Class toy to ensure he could carry the price.

Definitely fun to pose, with a wide range of motion everywhere. I do like that he is fully painted red, with a nice matte finish. I think the only red plastic used in the entire figure is for his head and his forearms.

I don't regret getting him, but I would need to see the new Bumblebee before I settle on whether they can replace my Classics molds.

    This is not Beast Wars.
    This is not the 90s.

If in 2020 the only way for you to move a huge chunk of the alt mode to the robot mode is to completely remove it during transformation, you go back to the drawing board because you failed at making a good Transformer.
