2. No idea. I'm convinced Scar's just saying that because they don't like The Quartering.

 

To be fair, there are many reasons not to like the guy. That said I'm not sure how he's relevant here...For the sake of the rules, I'll leave it at that.

FFS, what is so scary about creating a new character? Here, I'll have a go:

New TF Continuity

Deceptions are currently the dominant political faction in a post interstellar war between Cybertron and Gobotix. They were initially granted governmental control only for the duration of the war, but after it was won, supreme commander Megatron remained in charge and is guarded by his Seekers. A rebel group of citizen soldiers called "The Autobots" are an opposition group trying to recruit both war vets and new grunts so they can mount an offensive against the Decepticons and rally the Nonfax (non-factional Cybertronians) to their cause.

Enter Taigrit Vex, a former soldier who's trying to put her fighting days behind her as a transport mechanic among the Nonfax. She was a well known warrior who could kill with her fists just as good as with her combat rifle, and is sought after by both Decepticons and Autobots.

Optimus Prime, the Autobot leader, often visits her to explain how the Decepticons will turn Cybertron into an aggressive empire just as the Renegade faction did to Gobotix. She continuously refuses, reminding him of the friends they lost in the war, and how she has sacrificed enough for Cybertron.

This sets up, once again, a fatal meeting between Optimus and Megatron. Starscream has previously been sent to try to persuade Taigrit reenlist as a Decepticon soldier, which of course never happens. On his way to personally demand that she join, Megatron finds the elusive Optimus leaving the area and engages him in deadly battle, leaving both leaders heavily damaged. The Decepticons retreat, leaving Optimus to be found by Taigrit.

"You are the only one...who can make a difference now. Take this ancient cog. In this Matrix.....contains the knowledge of our...Cybertronian ancestors. They can help...return us to our...true glory and honor..."

Optimus Prime's spark leaves his metal frame, and merges with the cog. It's at this point that some Seekers go back to drag off what remains of Optimus when they decide to pick a fight with Taigrit over the curious little cog. She dispatches 2 of them, but there are 4 more. To guard the cog, she merges it with her frame, and is then Transformed and reformatted into the more powerful, Tigris Prime...

OK, there you go. I'm nobody, I talked the talk and walked the walk, and just created a new character who could be a female Prime. She's a reluctant leader, a war vet who deals with survivor guilt, and she's on a journey to overcome her internal pain, and carry the burden of being a leader in battle once again. Love it or hate it, at least she's her own bot.

If there's NO CHANGE AT ALL save for the lipstick, then it's not anything but checkboxing, which is about the second worst possible attempt at representation. The first would be making their gender their defining feature, as if every single bit of characterization revolved around the lipstick. That's the only thing that'd be worse representation than checkboxing.



And to be clear: checkboxing is bad regardless of how it's done, it isn't tied solely to "she's a woman". Nice try, though.

I don't engage with 3 kinds of arguments.

1: I'm flat out wrong and am proven demonstrably incorrect. That is sufficient enough to not respond. I don't need to point out how right you are.

2: When a comment is solely put in for some sensationalist garbage shitposting. If you look hard enough, you'll find some of those in this very thread. Hell, you might be able to find one on this page. I won't dignify those with a response, not anymore.

3: When someone's "message" is so ingrained that you can tell right off the bat that "I'm right, you're wrong" is blaring between their ears so loudly that nothing will get through. I have no interest attempting discourse with a militant brick wall.

Okay, pretend for a minute that I have a job, children with special needs, and too much going on to constantly surf 4chan, Tumblr, YouTube, TVTropes, or any other trendy thing that people with too much fucking free time and constant internet on their device seem to inundate themselves with.

What most people are talking about right here. You can accomplish it completely without needing to slap lipstick on Optimus.

 

Why not? Just change all the his, him, he to her, she etc in the dialogue and job done. A female actor saying the lines if it's animated , but no need to change anything else at all.

 

As in Tigertron becoming a Prime? I don't see it. Tigs is cool, but he's not Prime material, IMO.

she technically existed since 2004 with her first toy being released in 2003

 

Gotta say I like it. She's boxy and robust but you can still distinguish something femme about her, and most importantly, it's a cool redesign for Optimus. I wish there were more iterations that tried something new with his design instead of rehashing his G1 look with a new art style each time.

Not that she's going to replace the OP we know though. To answer the question, I think you're better off pushing Elita-One as the female Autobot leader figure - their names both mean Number One for crying out lout.

Tbh, if OP was to be genderbent, I would fear the Twiterrati side of the conflict more than the cringelords like the Quartering and Jeremy from Geeks&Gamers - I have no animosity for them though, I once followed them but then they got annoying.

 

Funny thing is, before this comic came out, that Optimus only had a small section on the Wiki written about her, and some people on this very thread were arguing that it doesn’t count because the FunPub/the wiki were unreliable sources and that version should still be counted as female.

In light of a mostly sarcastic post that I recently made over in a similarly controversial thread...

...I reiterate that I'd be completely cool with this idea, perhaps for a one-off Elseworld's esque story or some such, same for the mentioned in the post idea of a female Megatron or similarly genderswapped Arcee or Chromia. Because why the heck not? The entire point of a multiverse is endless possibilities, they can't all be playing it safe to not upset the fandom...
