I wonder if that list that was floating around coulda been about Junkions instead of a combiner.

It says there’s 5 but maybe it’s the 4 new junkions and a Crash Hog re-release of something.

I am less inclined to believe that because Keith always separates XTB and KFC to maintain their marketing. There is no reason why they wouldn't come this year regardless of this schedule. I am more curious as to how KFC solved the designer issue. Zyros' Deathsaurus was moved over from KFC to XTB as we saw on the Savant box. That has been in process since 2016. I still believe those 5 XTB slots have to do with Menasor reissues and not some new combiner.

Bit off topic, but if Keith is behind both companies, why not just have one company?

Companies started differently with different designers and quality and goals. Initially, KFC was CHUG and accessories from what I could see. Eventually both companies focused on G1 MP. 598 Robots is the sole XTB designer whereas I know of at least 3 for KFC over time. Other than Zyros I don't specifically know who they are. For a while one year KFC had releases and then XTB the next year and then it mixed more. KFC was completely caught up and XTB had the backlog. Now, XTB with this schedule is in the process of reducing the majority of its backlog while the KFC one grows. KFC lost their designer so that started the holdup but I fail to see why things have taken so damn long.

As to separate companies a lot of these started early on as fly-by-night deals for one figure and a lot of them died off that way. You can look back to most companies and find LOOSE connections to multiple companies. Fans Toys-GigaPower-Perfect Fusion or Unique Toys/DX9 or Maketoys/Fansproject/Fans Hobby. These companies have independent financial deals so it makes sense to keep them separate for different arrangements. Fans Toys is a good example with Perfect Fusion that did a one time deal and then just stuck to its core. Most of the time it is connections of factories or designers to multiple companies that either loosely partner or later break off and do something independent. There are people that know far more than I do. You can also look at the Toyworld/Zeta connection for why Keith probably chose to keep two brands going that had been built given his current predicament. Toyworld's designers left and took the kitchen sink. Toyworld has been continuously living off selling Constructor and had to bring in a new design staff that appears to be TFC. Keith's success initially came from owning his own factory so it makes sense to have multiple design teams to push product if it is all going to the same place.

Sweet. I've got Scraps and Gunker ordered. I really want a Dumpyard too but waiting to see what type of paint these new guys have before choosing the regular or metallic version of him. If these new ones are all metallic then surely Wreck-gar gets a metallic paint reissue at some point?

I'd still rather see them finish the Menasor set before these but at this point I'll take any progress from KFC/XTB as good news.

Wow, I'd sort of forgotten these were even a thing. Heck, I think many of the pre-order sites probably did, too. Good to finally SOME update!

It makes sense to make these minor characters rather than finishing the Stunticon sets first.

Funny trivia. Castoff was named by MY WIFE. Back in 2014 Keith asked me for a list of names for his upcoming Junkions. I suggested several names, but didn't have enough. I asked my wife for some names of trash-themed robots and she suggested six names, that I added to my list. Castoff was the fifth name on her list. I still have the email.

I think Castoff was modeled on the colors of the Junkion Trashbin. He is the Junkion who attacked Arcee with an axe in the movie.

I vaguely remember there being at least 3, but for the life of me, couldn't think of a single one of the other names. I remember it coming up when that bizarre BB7 Sideswipe that was a semi-KO of the XTB's Breakdown came out ahead of the actual XTB release.

I'm wondering if XTB will release a Hot Rod since TT screwed that one up and FT did also. What better complement to go with these guys and their upcoming Springer and Kup. They don't need an Arcee since TT did a good job on her. XTB already did Wheelie(which needs a 2.0) and all they'll need is Blur to round out the movie cast.
