I downloaded a new editing software tonight. I want to start practicing with adding layers and effects, instead of just messing with lighting and coloring. Scrapper got to be my first test subject.

I've still got a lot to learn about the software but it I think this might turn out ok.

 

I have never been happier with a third party add-on.

 

Ok, FIRST AND FOREMOST.
I am TOTALLY NOT taking credit for the original art here that I found by googling "steampunk transformers"...
BUT...
I found and interesting pic of soundwave that I liked because he's who he is AND the drawing depicts him as an old timey piano (which I happen to be trained to play a bit) with the spools that could be played automatically without a person.
I loved the pic and wanted to blow it up and enlarge it to frame it to put it on the wall in my bot-cave but didn't like the head OR the green background.
I've been drawing all my life so I decided to give it a spin and change things up a bit, so here goes!
Original pic I found on google: (no idea of original artist) So it starts. New head; FINISHED!!
Time for ink! Time to revert back to elementary school, COLORING TIIIIIME!
First, the basics. To be honest; I wasn't sure the yellow/copper/bronze was gonna look good on him at first, but it grew on me the more I shaded.
Then I started on the background and I wanted to change the green in the original to flames. Then added the grey, dead sky in the background; Then finished up the fire details... Finally I was happy with it so I took it to my local Office Depot and had em blow it up for me to 16×20; framed it, and here it is. Im REALLY proud of the way it turned out as far as transferring the colors over to the larger size and still keeping the consistency.
And in NO WAY do I take credit for the original art that I COPIED to make this picture for my personal display.
But here it is in its final "resting place" I think it looks good on the red wall; making the blue really POP, along with the highlights of red within the flames...

I have seen the other 3 drawings as well in search of inspiration to do some custom figure painting and fell in love with the soundwave one.
