I still have Nautilator but he's too heavy to be used as a gun. Plus I have the claws en route from Shapeways that I would much rather use.

Those are from Transform Dream Wave's Abominus upgrade kit which I then painted magenta.

I love the figure - and I'm glad I got him - but right from the beginning I couldn't help wondering: maybe it's the huge hands (and limbs in general), or maybe it's the slightly-oversized noggin on the G1, but does anyone else think this Piranacon's head is a bit... small? (Hint, hint upgrade kit makers).
PS Those TDW thigh and hip covers look ace!

 

Transform Dream Wave kits have those hip and thigh covers. I don't believe they've announced versions for the Seacon sets yet.

Small head syndrome is a necessary evil to prevent the torso from being too big / thicc. Even Titan class is not immune from this.

 

I've seen people wanting for combiners redone ASAP, particularly for their articulation.

Yes they are a b*tch to pose, especially without yanking parts off, but its doable. I think if their swivels and ratchets were sturdier they would be perfect.

I pulled off all of these without additional support.

 

Still on the way from Japan but scored nearly all.

Big backpack balance out the front pretty well. need to work on tidiness, though.

Thanks for the idea! Btw, how did you get overbite to cling so close to the back? I tried but mine ended up so clunky and not tidy like yours.

Found an unopened set on YJA for $330, figured what the hell and picked up another set. If I end up not wanting it, I'm sure I can get my money back. To bad it's going to take 3 months to get here....

 

Got it so the toy config was scalor as an arm and Nautilator as a leg while Masterforce the opposite. Overbite is the gun in both cases.

 

"Toy config" itself is rather nebulous as I think boxart left out Nautilator entirely...



Though the BBTS re-issue used the same config I grew up with.



And then there are those who'll typically put Nautilator and Seawing as the same limb type with Skalor and Tenta-Kill as the other because those two have similar colors so look good that way. In that case, Overbite is the gun because his colors don't really go with anyone else.

So whatever config you go off, I think most people grew up with Overbite as the "designated gun."

Which is fine, because he looks best that way.

 

I never paid any attention to any configs. I just put them together wherever & never even thought about it. That goes for every combiner.

 

I put this in another thread as well. The Marvel US comic (and from what I remember most/all of the UK), Overbite was the gun. The only time I ever remember Overbite being an arm in the US was that Dreamwave profile. I know the character/cartoon model of Piranacon has Nautilator as the arm. The Seacon instructions (white sheets) had Overbite as the gun, but Nautilator was a leg and Skalor was an arm. Piranacon giftset instructions had Overbite as a leg. The only time I can think of Overbite being an arm pre-Dreamwave was the giftset art. The model sheet I attached below is the model sheet that was in the back of the Marvel comics issues (aka Universe Bio) and is the same model used for the cartoon (well commercial really). It is different than the Japanese model sheet. Also the UK tended to use the same model sheets for the comics as well. Again, basically the only place that has Overbite as an arm is from Dreamwave and that is what TFwiki is using, but in reality, among it's many incarnations, it's not actually that way. Even the Marvel Universe bio even mentions Overbite as a gun. "He wields a jawbreaker cannon (which is actually the weapons-base mode of the Seacon Overbite), which shoots powerful metal-eating, salt-based corrosives."
