I think I’ll stick with my original set of Constructicons. I figured a box set was inevitable, but I was kind a happy with how Hasbro spaced out the release of the figures. As strange as it may sound, it was easier not spending a couple hundred dollars at the same time just to complete a combiner.

Well, yes the sculpting and paint is better because Devil Savior has an infinite budget and they’re selling the figure at a higher price. If you like the look of it, more power to you. Sure it looks god, but it’s so insanely and ridiculously complex that the fun factor is all but non-existent.

It may look better in combined mode, but in my opinion, Studio Series has the better individual robots and vehicles. Plus, and maybe this is more for me, but it’s more affordable and readily available.

Personally, I only buy figures if they’re fun, and the 3p Devastator doesn’t look fun. It looks like something you transform once and then put up on a shelf. That’s great for some people, but it’s just not for me

I just had a crazy idea. What if the box set had the figures painted like they were covered in spray paint graffiti. Like stylized decepticons symbols and cybertronian language. What do you guys think? Would you buy that?

I would if only the colors were significantly different. Like different enough that they could be considered different characters. Honestly I am still of the opinion that I want G1 colors only not a complete green blob. Mix in purple and gray. Maybe even some slightly different shades of green. I would so buy that.

At least Overload first please. Skipjack isn't essential, but at least Overload at retail before any box set drops.

Since the point is movie accuracy (as much as one is able with retail figures)... negative, Ghost Rider. The pattern is full.

I personally really do hope they do something that has a shared color theme. The randomish coloring of the limbs is okay, it is movie accurate, but something that makes them look like one individual would be nice. Kind of like God Neptune. But not those colors.

This, but also Mixmaster is based on his RPM repaint and Hightower is based on his Kre-O counterpart.

We don’t even know what it looks like. Unless you mean the standard set?

Personally I’m torn. If they included extra pieces like the shoulder flaps, missile launchers and tubes, etc, plus more accurate paint jobs, I’d be very tempted. But I never intended to get 2 sets of Constructions. So idk, we’ll see; depends how much better it looks.
If it’s a G1 repaint though, I’m passing. I had the G1 colored legends Devastator years ago, and it didn’t look that great. The only allure of it was the exclusivity

I assume this user replied directly to the front page story, which uses a placeholder image, and assumed it to be representative of the actual product.

I hope this is solely treated as an opportunity for those who missed out to be able to get the full Devastator.

I stand by what I've said before - if this set includes extra pieces (that were not otherwise made available), that's a slap in the face to those who diligently bought the Constructicons as they were released, and I'd have no qualms buying from a 3rd party that knocks those off.

A better paint job would also be a bit annoying but not the end of the world.

I know they released a better looking Combiner Wars Devastator at SDCC, but that was still close to the release of the retail version (that was sold as one set as opposed to 8 figures over 2 years), and there was also the Takara version, so at least had the option to make a choice.

Hmm. What if this box set has extra characters, but they’re of characters who Hasbro hasn’t revealed, but said characters will get a release in the main line similarly to Skipjack?

Maybe a payload and Demolishor? Or heck, even an all new mold as one of the random concept art constructicons we’ve seen. That could justify the jump in price.

The main 8 (roughly $260 American dollars), plus skipjack ($30), payload ($30), Demolishor ($50) and perhaps a different arm ($30). That’s an even $400 plus the tax, that all adds up and make sense in my eyes. I’m assuming it’ll be a convention or import exclusive, so we can add on like $20 extra.

I’m probably going crazy though, so who knows.

    SDCC exclusive version?

$400 seems steep, but I dont remember the ind. release prices.

Kind of amazing that retailers/manufacturers are not changing any planned releases, given the economic hardships facing millions of customers...

Based on that price, a possible SDCC exclusive special edition was what I thinking as well. While I did lose interest in the SS Constructicons this would have been a great way to get caught up on them all at once. But if it is a special edition, I want to see what SS Devastator would look like in bright green G1 colors. I hope he's bright enough to need sunglasses.

I\'d go in on this with a G1 deco, if only to have those Constructicons in that color scheme... I\'ve held off on the SS Constructicons so far...

I've got spilt. He is what he is. But he looks quite a bit better to me than the mixmaster in Stusio Series.

Given that the studio series version appears to be incapable of even standing a screen accurate pose, I'll epoxy and add supports if need be. I'm pretty sure the 3P version soon will be the most screen accurate version we'll ever get. I'll do what ever it takes to combine him and probably never take him apart again. I get why that wouldn't appeal to everyone, but it appeals to me.

I think too many people are caught up in the pricing and the whole official vs 3rd party thing.

The price everyone's freaking out about is the case, not the single set. The single set is reasonably priced (as is the case, considering you're getting two full sets in said case).
We need to remember that while it's not 3rd party, it's still pretty good quality compared to recent era releases (WFC the video game, anyone?), and Has/Tak gave us a staggering eight-figure combiner!
Two Leaders, four Voyagers, and two Deluxes...all from Has/Tak.

I think we need perspective, rather than judgment, for just a second and realize this is amazing. We're not only getting a single set of grab 'em as you can figures and sold piecemeal to save the collector money, but we're also getting a boxset for those who couldn't get it on the first run, and that there's a retailer willing to carry such an expensive set. Insane. $260-ish for eight figures? *nods*

My hope is that it has textured weathering like the Acid Rain line of figures and vehicles, and maybe a piece to attach to the head to replicate the vortex grinder.
