Clown Shoes Astrotrain belongs on the Island of Misfit Toys. I'm sure there is someone out there that can love this variant.

    I am not that person.

I finally got to Bestbuy today which for me is about an hour away from where I live. I went and did a return/exchange for the banged up and smashed doubles of Grapple and Ironworks that Bestbuy.com sent me. Anyways I exchanged them for a second Optimus Prime but this time I got a completely mint box - case fresh Prime. It's kinda funny cause I called ahead of time and asked which figures they had in stock and the sales guy told me they only had one figure left and that was Hoist. So I went there expecting to just get a refund, but when I got there they literally had shit tons of stock of every Figure except Starscream. Obviously he was either lying or never even checked. Well I'm happy either way cause now I have one prime I will get to open right away and the other I will pack away for some time in the future..

Yes I just went through this same type of thing through Bestbuy.com. I ordered 3 Earthrise figures and got 3 entirely different figures. I totally feel your pain and sympathize with you and think these online stores need to get there shit together asap!!

Lately, I've been comparing the Siege/Earthrise figures to figures from lines that directly preceded them like Titans Return and Power of the Primes.

And the quality of Siege and Earthrise figures is absolutely no comparison. They make figures from the previous lines seem primitive in comparison. It's truly amazing to me.

The added articulation, paint, and overall design detail in these two new lines is a wonderful gift from Hasbro and Takara.

That's not a fair assessment of the situation. They send you an item out of the assortment, you're not at all guaranteed to get the one you're specifically looking for. If you want that, you have to call ahead and confirm what stock they have at your local store, give them your name, then make the online order and they'll fulfill it for you locally. If you're not local and you're buying from the .com itself, you get what you get because they clearly state there's an assortment. Blaming them for doing their job as they promised to isn't fair in the slightest.

Yup, it's based on the case assortment. It also says it there on the product listing: "Styles May Vary"

    And in the details:

This figure is chosen at random
Order online for a surprise character, or stop by your local Best Buy store to make your selection.

Actually its perfectly fair, specially when there website could easily be fixed to allow for each particular figure to be selected to be purchased.
To me its like if I were to buy a Blu-ray online from there ".com" of lets just say Transformers The Movie and they end up sending me Telitubbies. To you that is logical because they sell an assortment of a million plus movies?? It shouldn't matter if its an assortment of 2 items or a million items, you should get the option to choose what item you get to spend your money on otherwise that is just poor business practice!!

No, it's still not fair and your argument doesn't hold water at all.

1.) It says "Styles May Vary" thus making it a legally acceptable listing and you agree to that by making a purchase.

2.) The case comes with a barcode, that's what's scanned. Hasbro made it that way so that retailers such as BestBuy and others like it could just scan the case and throw three on the shelf, rather than spending money on employees having to scan each and every figure into the system. It's inefficient and a waste of resources. (This is one of the reasons Amazon and Pulse and eBay exist. Heck, even TRU wasn't immune to this and they sold TOYS!)

3.) Getting the wrong movie vs the wrong figure is a false equivalency. Movies come in a case of just that movie, so if they send you the wrong movie, they just screwed up. Period.

4.) It's not poor business practice, this is how businesses operate unless they're a small mom & pop that can cater to your every whim to suck the dollars out of your pocket. The big brand stores don't need you, they don't need me. They go for quantity over quality, and again, you agree to that by using their services and making a purchase.
