I wonder how much the metallic painted version of Zeta's remove some of your negatives

I just watched the Sun of the Empire reviews and I can't say I'm a fan of the metallic version.

The bodies of the limbs are clearly the toy version and they tried to toonify them with the paint.

The only thing toon about them are the heads, which again, makes no sense because the bodies are toy accurate. And they released the first two with toy heads too. All they had to do was release that last two limb bits with toy heads and it would've been a perfect toy version.

The toon paint actually makes less sense to me

 

For me the backpack doesnt brother me that much.. and waist turn .. i can live without just iceman. I just hope the combined mode will look great and not disappointing. I do have high hopes from Fanstoys...  

 

I guess it depends on if you consider G1 toon Air Raid to have a completely different transformation than G1 toy Air Raid. The toy has the wings on the legs, and would make the "largest visible bits of jet kibble" on the show actually the tailplanes, since that's what "ends up on his back and sticks out sideways" on the toy. Because all the Aerialbots' animation/models suffer from "the people doing the drawings apparently not being real familiar with jet parts/how the Aerialbots transform" and trying too hard to make them like seekers.

Skydive's animation model actually gets it right, Fireflight's is just a nightmarish mess.

 

But, can she turn into a leg? 

 

You mean turn into a car but have the hood flip up ever so slightly so that she plugs into the knee of a combiner?    

 

The KFC Horrorcons are triple changers jetformers with huge backpacks, and both have waist swivels... Even Kingzilla have an ab crunch.

The new FT Berserk has waist swivel.

 

Going forward all FT figures will ship with the waist glued so it can't swivel.

 

Looks brilliant, but I take this affects the transform?

If from e-bay, how much shipping do you have to pay?

I think it's possible to transform her into a brick to use as a leg. Just like her car mode ( like the stunticons.
But she don't have connection ports.

 

Did Zeta's Aerialboys have waist swivvels?

I wouldnt have thought its the fact that they have backpacks that makes ot difficult to give them swivvels, but that their backpacks are made up of the nose and rear of the alt mode, connecting together in bot mode.

Arcee and Horrocons as examples of big backpacks with waist swivvels, arent their backpacks only made up of hoods? Fronts of their alt modes?

 

Come on, everyone. Air Raid does have waist swivel. You just gotta unfuck the backpack and... bam!

 

Those little red floppy bits plug in and are solid if you have the shoulders fully transformed (it is incorrect out-of-box). Unfortunately they do stay floppy in plane mode...
