All great info. I've also been thinking about doing legends scale for G1. I've been doing MPM line on the movie side, but there are so many less in that line. Even if I only get 10-20 characters in the real "G1" appearance, MP is just too much/too big.

I just orders MS Optimus Prime and Six-Shot, and will see how those two go. I'll be keeping an eye on soundwave, and other upcoming releases.

It's been confirmed that these cassettes are the same size as Magic Square Blaster/Stereo Master, right?

No, still unknown. Kind of doubt it.

Actually, almost guaranteed not to be. MS Blaster uses same size tapes as DX9 Soundwave, and both those figures are smaller than MS Soundwave. His tapes are almost certainly a little larger.

This is SG Soundwave before the deco got worked onto his G1 body. I expect at least one of MS or NA will do it.

damn that's right. MS released blaster already. so now their soundwave release won't scale with their own blaster release. o_O

hmmm, i was considering picking up blaster, but i would have to pay the premium for MS version as it wouldn't scale with the PT/DX9 i already have. so if i pick up this MS soundwave, hopefully i can get the cheaper MFT oversized version to scale with it. i didn't want to budget too much on blaster as he's not a character i have any attachment to, just wanted him to counter soundwave. LoL

So which Soundwave and which Blaster would scale with each other?
I’d like for the tapes in their alt modes to be the same size too. Kinda like how the MP tapes are the same exact size as the g1 tapes
    I guess it’s a perfectionist thing

It really depends on what you want. If you're in the game for G1-inspired designs, then you want either New Age, Magic Square, or Mech Fans Toys. You can mix and match between them, but the scales are all a little different. New Age is smaller than MS, MS is smaller than MFT (who mostly just steal other companies' designs and upsize them, although they have some original pieces like the Hot Soldiers line). DX9 is mostly defunct at this point in the legends game, but their stuff works well with NA or MS, although both companies have already redone many of the same characters so there's not a huge purpose in backtracking outside of their Dinobots and maybe Devastator.

Iron Factory is off doing their own thing with mostly IDW-inspired designs. Some of their stuff works well with the other companies, some doesn't.

Personally, I was a DX9 collector who has mostly moved on to Magic Square. I have no problems with New Age, and I have a few of their figures, but MS got started first and I'm sticking with them. I like the scale, engineering, and build quality that MS brings to the table. I just wish they'd stop doing Optimus repaints and start putting out more new stuff.

LoL, your guess is as good as mine right now. all i know is MS blaster scaled with the original DX9 soundwave.

we are only guessing MAYBE it's possible to pair up MFT blaster with the new MS soundwave, as well as maybe MFT OS shockwave. and i'm hoping possibly that NA soundwave will scale the same as PT/DX9 soundwave and pair up with my IF/PT shockwave.

otherwise, guess i'm just buying everything and just put them in different displays apart from one another!

    Man
This scale stuff is insane lol
Why wouldn’t MS just scale their Soundwave to their Blaster?

When they did Blaster, they only had one Decepticon out. It was poor planning, and the MFT Blaster is taller than any most if not all MS figures.

isn't MS blaster scale a perfect match with DX9/PT soundwave and IF/PT shockwave? i'm guessing that's how they prob got their scale from.

you can do some surgery and shorten MFT blaster down a little! at least to scale with HS soundwave. LoL

I would say so. MS Blaster and DX9 Soundwave are just about the same height, which goes along with the scale chart.

MS's problem is that they don't follow the chart 100%. They seem to use it more of a guide in that on the chart this guy is taller than that guy, and the other guy is taller than both of them. Of the unholy trio, Megatron is the tallest, followed by Soundwave, then Starscream. Megatron is taller than Optimus, so I think they painted themselves into a purple corner with their Prime, since the size he could be was restricted by him being a downside of their Masterpiece scale figure.

I kind of don't think they had originally intended to do a Soundwave when they got started, at least not when they were making Blaster. When they showed prototypes of Blaster, they did it along with DX9's Soundwave, and highlighted that they used the same size tape compartment. Then they did their Optimus, and I think that made them realize how big their Decepticons would have to be.

I think the reception of their Soundwave and his tapes will determine whether or not we will get a revised Blaster and tapes from them. I don't think correcting scale would be a big enough motivator for them to do it, but I think making Blaster's tapes will be. If people like what they do with Soundwave's enough, they're going to want and ask for Blaster to get the same treatment. For Blaster to get the same treatment, he'll need a larger figure.

Does anyone have comparison pics between MS and MFT Blaster’s size difference? Is this Soundwave gonna be in between the 2 size wise?

Yeah, pretty much everything already said. The reason why I decided to jump and get Blaster, because I had DX9's Soundwave and he was a perfect match. Now I have NA's Megatron and Seekers, and Soundwave is a touch too short. I won't be getting this one because he'll be way too tall for what I want, and well out of scale for their current Blaster. And I have no intention of getting a SECOND Blaster if they choose to revisit that height.

Still hoping NA Soundwave--who will also be taller--isn't that much worse, and I can keep my Blaster all the same. If not, Soundwave will just be a touch shorter in my Legends world.

He'd be relatively in between. I only have the actual MS, so no pics from me. :(

And whichever company does it first, I'll be buying it! Hear that, MS and NA? Get on it. :)

See @FredVIII 's post. MS Soundwave will be a little shorter than MS Optimus. I believe OP is 11.2 cm and Soundwave is 10.8. MFT Blaster is 12 cm.
