I'm wondering if the angle of the cut or the height where it's cut affects how it will look like when the joint is turned.
Thank you for sharing the results of your thigh modifications. I am seriously considering doing this to my Spawn figure. What tool(s) did you use to make the cuts in the thighs? I'm wondering the same thing. If I perform this mod, I'm thinking of making the cut on its left leg lower and closer to the pouch strap to conceal the cut more. Similarly, I would add a thigh pouch to its right leg and have the cut positioned just above the strap to conceal the cut on the leg.
Angles make the joint look much worse, and affect its usability, the more severe the angle the less you would be able to swivel. Look at the gap even a slight deviation from straight produces i just used and exacto, some hot water, and a pair of needle nose pliers, also I wouldn’t go that much lower with the cut, the stem isn’t as long as I was led to believe, much lower and it would affect the holes ability to retain the peg
Best Buy delayed my Arkham figures to the 30th. I ended up ordering there because, I found a giftcard that took care of one of them.
I'm seeing the cut doesn't seem that straight on the thigh with the pouches which brings the point to my question. I think the cut should definitely be really straight and if possible, right where it meets the pouches to prevent the awkward displacement of the muscle sculpt.
Like I said though, the stem doesn’t go down far enough to let you place the swivel that low, doing so could affect the ability of the thighs to stay attached the further down you cut the lest meat it pegs into, and the more precise your cut needs to be, because if it’s at an angle and only pegged in shallowly the leg could pop off when using the swivel, even then it wouldn’t hide much as the shape of the thigh Is oblong, and the placement of the peg hole is offset
The offset factor is what I was figuring was happening. You're so precise with these things that I didn't think it was something you did wrong.
I understand what you said. I'm just saying ideally it would be close to the pouch but it's not possible because of the stem. Further complicated because the hole is not really centered.
Alright the axe that Anthony is doing is looking good enough to convince me to make this one my SC spawn, so the cape has got to go Todd does not want that cape coming off how deep does it go jeez looks like an open wound That was overkill Todd, and it’s positively slathered with glue the whole way down At least I’m satisfied with the end result, may putty up that gaping hole in the back and paint it, along with touching up some of the cuts to make the detail more consistent, but as is I’m pretty happy and the cape still sits on em just fine, though I imagine with more extreme poses it wouldn’t necessarily look as good Fair enough, I wanted symmetry between the legs, and the cut higher for reasons I’ve already stated, as well as that it helps hide the articulation when the hips are bent close to 90, as the crotch covers over the thigh hiding the swivel nicely Be sure to show us how yours turns out if you go through with the mod
Might not go through with it given what it looks like and besides, I'm not good at cutting through things like that manually and might end up modding my finger permanently instead. Edit: I will take ideas on how to properly secure the cloth cape on the figure though.
He has thigh rotation at the hip but they way it's sculpted keeps it from being viable, it might be better to shave the upper thigh down a bit so that it could be a usable joint thats my plan when I get an extra one in, I'm not willing to mod the only one I have at this time. Anyways found another mcfarlane gem, Unchained Armor Sup, unfortunately Hellbat was already gone I dont like the wings, I'm gonna repurchase them as extra big cleavers. I never realized how big the MK figures are compared to the Fortnite figs
You could certainly do that, I feel like it could cause more gapping around the groin, and possibly texture mismatch, and ultimately wouldn’t give quite as much range, but please be sure to share the results I’m curious
the mace looks pretty good, now i really need the ax, which they had a gif of his throw to post with him using all three
Not bad! Mace could be bigger, but it looks good. I was low key afraid they would do a deco change on the figure.
Oh, I like the mace more than the sword! Hmm. I could see fit to double up on the Spawn figure so that I could have both the mace and the sword as well as one figure to keep unaltered and one figure to try modding, specifically the thigh joints for extra range of movement.
No. It replaces the sword version which was supposed to be the regular version. This was supposed to be the chase version but it seems somewhere along the way, production got screwed up and the sword became somewhat the chase version.
