Seems that from in hand experiences I’m going to need a drink and my toolbox in order to transform this over-engineered bastard.

 

Just a heads up, there are two black flaps that would be his butt in robot mode that help situate the back half of the jet/thrusters easier if you lift them up.

Watching the @Paik4Life livestream just now definitely made things easier but still, getting the backpack right ended up just having me remove the main wings entirely and then pop them back on when everything was in its right place was just easier.

 

Wow. Iceman is obnoxiously tall. The limbs shouldn't be taller than optimus prime. Goose was a good size

 

Dang. At first glance he looks gorgeous, just like Goose. But after finding myself very lukewarm toward Maverick I feel that @Paik4Life's opinion matches mine and I'm going to stay out on this set. The final straw for me is this screenshot from Paik's review. That is WAY too big:

 

I don't think the size is the issue, the Takara scale is in need of a refresh and the bigger stand out is the dated mould.

 

Anyone have the toyworld coneheads that aren't styled like official MP seekers to pose next to Iceman in bot modes?

 

I mean, I guess he really does look like Jetfire next to Prowl. Kind of silly, they made the stunticons large to scale to even larger Aerialbots?

 

I disagree. I do agree that the official car bots are too small compared to the likes of MP-44. But outdated mold or not, MP Starscream is the right size when compared to MP-36 and MP-44. I just can't see a set of in-scale Aerialbots being much or any larger than the MP seekers or MP Ironhide.

 

He’s big but I think it’s fine, he’s smaller than Prime and looks much better with Takara seekers than Prime looks with carbots.

 

Right. After all FT and DX9 Stunticon limbs are bigger than MP carbots so there's no big deal with Iceman's size IMO.

Haha, just a meme that’s always appropriate for Fans Toys but I didn’t want to aim at anyone in particular.

Looks like Iceman is sold out at ShowZ now and about everywhere.

 

I google searched an image that would show some of the aerialbots with other autobots as a reference for scale, and this is what I came up with. Silverbolt is insanely big in this image from the cartoon. Just look at where scale is on this show. I'm not the least bit miffed that the limb bots are as tall as Prime or at least close. This is a cartoon where a mack truck is somehow larger than a F-15 jet.

For me, it's close enough.



By the way, we're not even gonna talk about how the Aerielbots were built in literal minutes in the show?

 

If it took bigger bots for FT to get Superion the height they were aiming for, it’s a worthy sacrifice for me. Regardless of the size of the original toys or the cartoon, I’m okay with them not being mini sized for my MP collection.

 

I'm right there as well. I think it all has to do with the combiner size and the way the Stunticons and the Aerialbots merge.
