People that buy toys simply because of the potential resale value are the worst kind of collectors in my opinion.

 

I doubt I'll be buying this either since at this point Takara Tomy's prices have made them as notorious as Funpub/Botcon use to be (and no I still don't miss them).

So unless this is a set that consists of Deluxe class limbs that are around $20 a piece and a Voyager that's close to $30 then once again they can keep it...

 

How many people would've even bought the main 3 SIEGE Seekers if they knew the ER line was making Earth versions?

Better yet how many people are just sticking with the SIEGE versions instead of saving for the ER trio? Re-releasing C and D list characters this soon does impact their value. But since I cancelled my pre-order, I wouldn't care about the re-release in this case if this new set of Seacon's were cheaper.

Looks identical to the Tentakil design to me. Even the thighs which people have said should be Moonracer's instead of Tentakil's are Tentakil's.

 

Glad I picked up the TR version of Leo convoy in preparation for these guys coming out.

 

Honestly, I don't know why so many people had issues with the Seacons release. I managed to pick up two sets, and I didn't have to camp out on the forums here or refresh Pulse like a maniac, or anything else that required much effort.

That being said, I think I will be picking up two God Neptunes as well, can't wait to see the full reveal tonight!

Me? They're G1 as hell. I'll buy any mainline toy that's fuckin' G1 as hell, that's a guarantee. MP is a different story, what with pricing me out. I'm also going to buy up the Seeker trio in ER again as well, because I'm an urepentant GEWUNNER.

 

Not rich, I work 45-55 hours a week and set aside a budget for my hobby. You don’t have to be rich, just smart.

 

She's 100% drawn with Moonracer's thighs there, just compare the panel lines on them with the toy, there's also that panel a couple chapters earlier that shows a different torso design than Tentakil's, which is fairly conspicuous given how every other character is drawn so accurately to the toys.
I'll also just point out again that Tentakil's lower leg squid kibble is pinned in exactly the same way as Moonracer's car kibble, so I wouldn't be surprised if we see Scylla using the mould's original thigh, knee and lower leg parts combined with Tentakil's squid kibble and feet.

 

The point I'm making is a recolour isn't going to devalue the original, as many have pointed out God Neptune wouldn't work as a King Posideon on a Masterforce shelf, just like how a Skywarp won't work as a Starscream and even if you disregard the context behind the different colours people will go for the deco they most prefer.
Regardless the original seacons will most likely retain their value, if not go up considering the limited release and the fact they we're the first release.

 

Nope. Sorry, but you've got to research something like that before making a blanket statement. Many figures which get recolors find one or the other actually increase in value. Look at the entire history of Transformers. Repaints are a staple of toys, and this goes beyond just Transformers.

This is true. Which in the long run, is a horrible idea. Many of these folks are using credit cards to stock their basements or whatever to resell, but they wind up paying interest. Hard to see the impulse to buy everything just to resell for an extra few dollars.

People waited and waited, and now that it is so popular, they've become upset at missing out. Preorders for each wave were up for weeks with a set date of closing pre-orders. None ever "sold out" at any point as pre-orders were taken during a specific time frame. Individuals had their reasons.

Look at the Amazon Skywarp debacle. Up for months, then the moment it sold out, Facebook groups, the BST thread here went nuts for people begging to buy one. eBay capitalized and it now goes for triple the price, because people are paying it.

Just goes to show, if you feel like you'll regret, just pre-order and cancel if you change your mind.

 

As for that that's not a good comparison since it is different molds though I do think a few people would have skipped the siege seekers if they knew earth mode versions were coming out, which is a shame since the siege mold is great in spite of the flaws.

 

I think it's the price more than its release that have turned people off.

I like Seacon's but I just don't think that they're worthy of a $240.00 price tag (before shipping and taxes). Hell, I didn't even pay that much for Takara's version of the Technobots or Constructicon's and they're far more popular. So after skipping the first set of Seacon's I will grab 1 God Neptune if as a whole he's less than $200.

 

I was referring to the people that said that they had trouble ordering them. A lot of people missed one or more sets, missed the preorder windows, etc. I don’t think that applies to people who didn’t like the price to begin with.

 

I get its annoying but they were up on order at multiple site, so there were options to pre order them for quite a while.
