Not too odd; those look like resin prototypes in @octobotimus's picture. I think the Dead End they've been showing off in the last day or so is coming off the assembly line, if not from a batch that's getting boxed and and ready to ship to stores then from a small test run.

 

Well Newage is practically begging at this point for people to spend an insane $140 on a car bot. Of course they’ll have a lot of advertising.

Oh man where have I been. I kept hoping that the second trailer was people guessing. This is such a dumb decision. Fanstoys has enough trouble with a normal transformation now the combiner pieces are going to form studio ox and a trailer. Will it for a base too cause you'll still have to set it aside for bot modes. What are we giving up for the second trailer waist swivel and ab crunch? What does superion transform into a trailer for silverbolt, a run way? Now I'm even more worried about the stability of the combined mode and I'm several hundred dollars into these 2 sets. Rant over.

 

Haha, I’m as guilty as anyone and totally agree with you on the worry of stability but it just made me live out this meme

Yeah but if the 2 of them aren't stable that's $2000+ down the toilet. Would Dalianjj say the movie bots had bad transformations, of course not. We can't be sure they've even tried prototypes. Each gimmick added to the design comes with sacrifice maybe it won't be stability, maybe it's presentation or articulation. Maybe I'm way off and ft can do it all, but I don't want to sacrifice ANYTHING for the combiner stuff to transform into a trailer that was never in the cartoon and will probably look stupid stuck on the back of motormaster.

well.... here’s the conundrum: the toy came with lots of parts that you had to use to make a robot - fists, feet, chest plate, face plate.... those had to be kept somewhere and there was never a good place. In the cartoon, he didn’t have to have a second trailer because cartoons. Honestly, I like the idea that he has another trailer that you display the truck with or not, because at the end of the day I’d rather have to stow away a second trailer that I COULD use when displaying vehicle modes, vs a skeleton that I can’t display anywhere when I’m not explicitly using it because it doesn’t make any sort of cohesive sense.... I don’t know.... I also like tandem trailers, so it’s a fun little bonus for me even if it’s not technically canon for the character.

Maybe I'm just a simple guy but I'm going to use the parts when combining and set them off to the side when not. Parts forming or not is not a big deal to me either way. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I just want all modes including combined to look great which I'm sure they will/are.

 

And FT has shown everything but Dead End. Kind of a funny symmetry. I think at this point either one could beat the other to market if they really wanted to. I doubt there's anything left as far as testing or design this far along in the process.

 

They should release the final piece to all 3 on the same day and create an international TF holiday based around the Stunticons where we all go out and do parkour badly.

Well, I caved.

I've been specifically only collecting season 1 MPs because they're closest to my heart, but also because it forces me to limit my budget tremendously.

But RoadKing is just too spectacular to pass up.

I've even forced my budget even more, due to the CAD tanking and shipping fees going through the roof. I swore I would only buy through Canadian retailers. KoolToyz had a RoadKing. I wanted a RoadKing so bad. It called to me. There wouldn't be customs fees.

I went back and forth for a few days, a few weeks even, while I watched Kooltoyz' Dracula, Spoiler, and, today, their Maverick sell out. I wasn't waiting any longer. I pulled the trigger.

And I don't regret it. Season 2 begins!

 

I wasnt going to get him either, but the past month I picked up Roadking and Spoiler and boy was I wrong on waiting to get these guys. They are awesome.

 

I did the same thing last time Road King was released and didn't get on board until after it sold out, I think you made the right decision, once it dries up, it goes quick!

 

Your wisdom is sage. I'll keep an eye out for a reissue of Spoiler!

 

KT was my little secret spot where FT would hang out longer than other places but I think it's blown up now and people are clearing it out. He will get a re-issue though
