why do you want only the first two parts ? Part 3 Stardust Crusaders is pretty good as well.

 

Did I mention first two parts??? If so i meant:

1. Jonathan vs Dio arc
2. Joseph vs the stone men (?)
3. Star Crusaders

I don’t quite enjoy the “Diamonds are forever” arc and subsequent ones.

 

Waiting for my Transformers Manga Vol 2. But I didn't know Love Hina was re-released into Omnis. I'm a suckers for them so here I go....

Part 4 is the best part. Granted the anime is actually better than the manga, but still.

Also, try reading Part 7. That’s when the series reboots and it’s honestly fantastic and has the best story of them all.

2. The fights leading up to Matilda and Otegas’ death are almost the same.

4. Amuro does not pilot the Gundam against Char’s Z’gok. The former pilots a GM instead.

The “story of Char”...these 3 volumes were never part of the original series.

1. WB crew travels to Belfast. Differences are the fights between the marine Zeon mobile suits.

Other than that everything plays out the same with the stowaway spy.

2. Char has a final showdown of sorts in his Zaku II, with Amuro winning...via a distraction from a fellow Zeon aircraft.

3. Amuro takes down 8 Doms (including the remaining tri-stars) en-route to the battle of Odessa.

4. M’Quve is killed off in the final battle in what it seems like a bombardment by the Federation.

Vol. 9

Spoiler

1. WB crew blasts into space where Char attempts to catch up with them, asking Dren to slow the ship down.

The manga has the WB taking down 3 ships (Musais) while the anime has 2 but the battle is fierce.

2. WB docks on a neutral colony (Side 6?) where a Zeon crew led by Coscon pressures its leaders to kick out them out...right to them.

WB and the Gundam wipes out the Zeon attack force.

The no. of Rick Doms faced is the same as the anime but the manga reduces Amuro’s kill count from 7 to 9 (if I remembered correctly?)

3. After that WB heads to Texas Colony to destroy (?) a Zeon research base.

Difference between the anime:

- M’Quve is replaced by Challia Bull (in the Braw Bro?).

- the fight took out alot of Amuro and Char finally defeats Amuro by forcing the latter onto a landmine field.

Oh is it? Tbh I really couldn’t get into the story arc...personally I felt the earlier arc (Stardust Crusaders) was more grandiose (?) and er, epic? It’s probably me...

The next best example I can recall was DBZ where I felt the Freiza arc was the highlight of the series and the Cell and Bluu arc didn’t measure up.

I will probably re-read Part 4 on your recommendation.

 

That's exactly why Part 4 is so good. After three world-threatening, globe-trotting epics there was no way to go "bigger." So Araki did the smart thing and scaled the story back, way back, to take place in a single crazy, noisy, bizarre town. Part 4 is far more slice-of-life, with fewer life/death situations. (though it's JoJo, so there's still plenty of horrible violence and death, but it's a lot less frequent) It's definitely a shock coming off of how big and bombastic SC with it's far more typical shonen beatdowns and bodycounts, but I feel like if DIU had tried to exceed that level of scale it would've felt too over-the-top. DIU is more intimate and, I dunno if this is the right word but, cozy?

Plus, and I don't want to risk spoiling it since it really is the best part of part 4, but the main villain may be my favourite in all of JoJo's for how... disturbingly real he is, and the story gets so good once he shows up.

Granted, I only watched the anime because I'm a basic bitch (but I did read all subsequent parts, and BOY is reading JoJolion monthly fucking brutal) and from everything I've seen it is significantly better paced, and even reorders one arc to make the story flow better, but it's still the same overall story and characters.

Plus, you need to read it to reach the highly excellent parts 6 and 7, and you can't be a filthy part-skipper, now.  

EDIT: Half an hour later and I actually have one criticism with the manga: the art. I love Araki's artwork, from its bizarre proportions and details to its glamourous aggrandizing of the human body, but whereas every JoJo part features a subtle evolution of Araki's style, usually a refinement of how it began, part 4 changed radically over its run.

Josuke went from looking like a yanki Jotaro to the perfect man.



I think this contributes to the haze of entering part 4 for manga readers. (this is just my assumption) DIU visually feels like a less intense SC but eventually gains its own identity in artwork as well as story.

Best version is, of course, anime Josuke.

But even ignoring my future husband, other characters change subtlety (or not so subtlety in the case of the incredible shrinking dudes which was an intentional design change) and sometimes the art fluctuates between the fine detail of typical Araki art and what can be charitably called "sketchbook doodle style."

 

For more comparison fun, take all those and compare them to the versions in the latter Rohan one-shot mangas.

 

Reading the Manga Vol. 2

Amazing collection. Disappointed Stepper is called Ricocet but so minor.

 

Demon slayer still a hit and still beating one piece. Also what on earth is spy family?

 

Detective conan has got more spin-offs! Zero's Tea Time and the Police Academy! (is sweetckuck going to show up?)

Zero has been going in chapters (and will get trades if it isn't in one yet) for some time and later merged into the new series police academy (or police school).

Will these come to america? Also has zero really got that big that he has had two spin-off mangas? wonder if this will get turned into a anime?

Detective Conan: Zero's Tea Time Manga Ends, But New Project Is Planned

 

I haven't read too much manga, but here are my all-time favorites (in no order):

 

I'm currently reading through the recently released Volume 3 (final volume) of Kazuo Umezu's "The Drifting Classroom" on Comixology. I'm also reading the physical copies of the past several volumes of "Monster Musume" I let pile up over the last couple of years. With being busy, I forgot how nice it is to just read a few pages of a manga and set it on a nightstand. Once I finish, I'd like to check out Okayado's other (and less raunchy/more adventure by comparison) series "12 Beast".

I'm also hoping more of Kazuo Umezu's classic stories and other past horror manga start getting released for the NA market and have a digital release. Aside from Junji Ito and a few others, they're only hitting the tip of the iceberg of what horrors are out there.

 

Still in the middle of "The Drifting Classroom" Vol #3, I'm also catching up on my physical copies of "How Heavy are the Dumbbells You Lift?". It's fun, pretty much the highlight are the exercise and health related tips they give in each chapter, a good amount of them being stuff that can be casually done at home.
