So who else are you betting they’re gonna redo for this line? Starscream, Megatron, and now Ironhide and Prowl are a thing. Who else will get the same treatment again?

 

I'm hoping for Earthrise Soundwave and Laserbeak, with earth modes and with a Buzzsaw repaint!

 

At this point, I would bet money on Sideswipe and Red alert, despite how much I don't want them Updated, but that will be WFC3 IMO.

I'm guessing Ultra Magnus if recent rumors of an ER Ultra Magnus are anything to go by.

 

Lets see, we've gotten Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream, Thundercracker, Skywarp, Smokescreen, Prowl and Ironhide as do overs. My bets for further do overs would be

Ultra Magnus (heavily rumored, will probably have his g1 alt mode)
Bluestreak (obvious)
Barricade (maybe, maybe not)
Sideswipe (would be a simple repaint of siege, but I have my doubts)
Red Alert (same as sideswipe)
Ratchet (obvious reuse of the new Ironhide)

I have my doubts about a new hound since he is more or less an earth jeep already (even if he isn't sunbow accurate in jeep mode) and about an earthmode sideswipe/red alert (though after seeing the new ko with painted roof I really do want one). But beyond those 6 potentials I really don't think any other siege guys would be candidates for earth modes. Maybe Mirage, but I'd more expect his siege figure to get a rerelease and new paint job in a potential netflix earthris line. Just ditch the clear plastic and give him an earthmode paint job and he'd be perfect just like sideswipe.

 

I've heard Warden said that some characters like Sideswipe won't get redoes due to how earthy their alt modes look anyway so I think it's a safe bet that Sideswipe at least is off the table for the time being anyway.

I could see him being a retool of Optimus Prime with a new trailer that could carry two deluxe bots (one on top, one on bottom), that also could be armor (much like the Siege version). I don't know how likely this is though.

 

I think if part 3 is indeed season 3/movie guys then I think it's highly likely. Ultra Magnus was the only movie bot to definitively have an earth mode (his cab is the same as primes afterall) and of the wfc movie characters, he is the only one so far to not have his g1 vehicle mode. there has to be a reason for that

 

To be honest I think it's VERY likely. With how very G1 everyone in ER looks right now,it would make sense to be the same for Ultra Magnus right down to having his core robot be basically a white ER Optimus Prime retooled to have armor put on him.

I just had this thought. What if ER Ultra Magnus is just a White ER Optimus Prime but has retooled parts to attach him to his Siege trailer and basically uses the same armor gimmick his Siege mold had? It'd be an effective way of giving us an Earth Ultra Magnus without making an entirely new trailer for him. You know like he can be backwards compatible with his Siege trailer.

The ER Magnus rumor just said "White Prime". I'm taking that to mean just a straight Prime repaint with no armor or retooling.

 

He’d have to still have a trailer, since primes parts are gang molded with the trailer and I’m not sure people would buy into a magnus with primes trailer

 

What color do you make the trailer then? That's a lot of white plastic.

I think the rumor was White Prime maybe because the model is based on Earthrise Prime and has a Prime interior.

If you had the CAD files and were doing a new mold, I'd think you could do a mix of cab and trailer retools to do a proper Ultra Magnus FROM Earthrise Prime. The trailer armor in Siege would mostly need a bit of subtle reshaping. The back of the leg armor would need to be adjusted so the red panel plugs into the bottom. The side leg panels would be replaced so that instead of a criss-cross facade, they fold out into the second level of the truck. The gray panels on the shoulder armor would need some adjustment.

My biggest skepticism with an armored Magnus from Earthrise Prime is that it can be done on a budget since the Siege Ultra Magnus figure skimps on the core robot as a separate figure a little if anything and the Earthrise Optimus skimps on the trailer and the combination of the two sounds like it would be out of parts count budget for a Leader class.

I mean, maybe you could release that as a Commander class figure but even with a few low parts count extras, you'd need 2/4ths of a pound or so of unarticulated plastic to hit the overall weight of a Commander class figure while also having the appropriate parts count.

I mean, that's basically what goes into a figure budget. Number of pieces, labor intensiveness of assembly, and plastic weight.

Earthrise Prime's body with transforming trailer armor would be a very high budget figure for Leader. It would also be kind of low in terms of sheer weight for Commander.

So if you're over a Leader budget, you have to go Commander. If you're under a Commander's budget and you want to fill the box, he'd need to ship with a big unarticulated hunk of diorama accessories or a chair or something.

I think they budget overall and not by figure so maybe some other figures could all be cheaper made to offset it.

 

The hint was "white Prime right"?

We all tend to overthink but maybe this one is simply a white repaint of ER Prime? It could represent an early Ultra Magnus or an Arctic Optimus Prime?

I really dont feel like we need an ER UM because Siege UM was damn near perfect in terms of a Generations UM.

If they can do a better UM in an Earth mode than I would be happy to accept and buy it but I just dont see it right now with all the Leader spots essentially full, that leads me to believe this rumored white Prime could be an exclusive which makes me feel a simple repaint is more likely than a remold or new mold.

The remolding needed to make ER Prime into an Armor capable Ultra Magnus would be extensive. Look at the proportions of the core bot of Siege UM, they give away that he has a power up form aka Super Robot Mode, ER Prime doesn't have anything that suggests a Super Robot mode was planned with that mold. All just my personal opinion and inference, if they wanted to, they could remold anything into anything
