While I'm more likely to "Bug in" due to teens and a decently equipped amount of supplies at the house. I did build a "Get home" bag incase I have to survive out of my vehicle or worse, ditch it.

That makes sense. What we can do depends on your situation. Where I am, there's a lot of people, and not much space for growing food. When TEOTWAWKI hits, I'm planning on bugging out to the countryside.

Exactly. A person needs to look at their situation and decide the best course of action. I live in a pretty rural, suburban area. But there is a decently sized highway/interstate only about 5 miles away. I have a plan if we have to leave for what goes with us if we need to leave for whatever reason, but in my case staying is easier than leaving.

I'm in a very suburban area on the East Coast with a lot of people. I have two destinations in mind to evacuate too, depending on the situation. They're kind of far, but a lot more isolated and secure then where I am now. I should work out routes over the backroads so as to avoid the highways.

Pretty much the same here. I have a few different smaller highways to go if I had to. I DO need to have a place to displace TO, because at this point family is too far away(midwest and I'm on the East coast too). I do have a couple of friends where we've talked about this stuff, but not really plan anything like getting or banding together to better our chances.

I guess I'm fortunate in having family all over this side of the country. The Northwoods of Maine, depending on where you are, could be a good location. There's game there, and not many people.

I'm in Central NC. There is plenty of game here too just not as rural as I'd prefer lol.

That's fair. I'm north of you, and there's just to many people for it to be safe when the fall happens.

Agreed. Here I think would be ok, but I have a feeling that even "bugging in" might only be temporary because it's still too densely populated overall for the area and the major highway so close. Probably the biggest thing going is all the military/former military that live around that would likely band together. Also, since I'm military, I know I wouldn't likely get to leave the area unless there was a total social breakdown lol. If it were to happen though, the hard part for me is deciding when to go and hope it isn't too late and not be bogged down due to traffic, etc.

That'd be a tough decision to make, and I hope you won't have too make it. I'm not military, so I'm not beholden to any government agencies at the moment.

IMG_20200509_130854.jpg . God I love bore sights was able to get red Dot Magnifier and iron sights all zero'd in about 10 minutes. If it gets bad my escape plan is to run to the White mountains about an hour for me

I have always liked ancient world armor and weapons.

Even have a book called Warrior A Visual History Of The Fighting Man:

This is a good philosophy. I know I posted a pic of me in a plate carrier but in general I only really got that for cosplay purposes. My actual "GO kit" is an old 90s LBV II with a medical and dump pouch on the belt and an assault. I'm a "bug in" kind of guy, and I'm not really looking for firefights, and my gear is tailored for that mentality. I just need to be able to get back home and bunker up. I've learned to lockpick, so obviously I have two sets of that, usually one always on me and one in the pack. I use a pry bar to make entry if I gotta.

Everyone is gonna think to bug out here in Oregon, and I'm thinking that there's gonna be so much competition with people trying to get out of urban and suburban areas, while I'm going to be staying in. I've made agreements with a bunch of people that me and my family can stay for some time if we need to, so it isn't like I don't have multiple places to crash if I need to.

That's cool too. You know how to have fun but also have skills and work on them. You know the difference and plan, learn/practice different skill sets which already sets you ahead of others. Looks like a good plan if need be to me.

Pick up the Army SF Handbook ( Legit US Army Issued one, not a private publisher book )- Nice recipes in there to solve lots of problems.

Lucky! That's the survival one, right? I have to make do with downloaded PDFs.
That's a really clever idea! My personal kit runs heavily towards wilderness survival and living off the land. I still need to get a takedown .22 at some point. I'm thinking maybe an AR-7.

Nope that's the Full SF Handbook, not just the sections - Let's just say it gives you exact measurements for things that go Boom US Army FM 3-18 Special Forces Operations
