Not vintage, but a bootleg from the G2 Laser Prime

I love the color scheme of this KO, im surprised we never got a official movie repaint (only the dvd spychanger also pictured)

and for that matter... were’s my G1 repaint Hasbro???

Anyway, the KO is pretty flimsy and bad quality plastic. Chest stickers are gone, so i made some generic for display. Chromed grill is a great touch

From what ive read, the first KO from the 90s, “Prime Optimus” (it came with switched chest name), have pretty much the same issues, and a chromed sword

They pop up on ebay from time to time, altough most people look for the Vintage KOs for their great quality (like Liokaiser and Roadcaesar)

Is "Vintage KO" a specific type of KO or is it a brand or something else entirely?

Old KO's. I have a Doubledealer that I bought when I started collecting. I didnt even know it was a KO, until a few years after I had it. Great quality.

Thanks for the reply. Is there a way to identify these Vintage KOs? Is there a site with pictures of the toys and/or boxes?

Vintage as in "old and valuable", or in this case, anything older than 20 years. KO just the abbreviation of "Knock Off"

I've been searching for a KO Star Saber for like 5 years now. They almost never pop up on Ebay anymore.

Thats what we want to do with this thread :)

The thing with KOs is they can be either in reproduction boxes, like this Road Caesar
G1 victory road caesar Blacker Brainmaster luster Braver transformers ko testron | eBay

But if you know how the real figure look, you can easily spot a fake (engrish box, no Takara logos, different colors)

1990s Metamorphs TRANSFORMERS VICTORY LANDCROSS KO 6 vehicles / 3 boxes FULL SET | eBay

This Landcross has the same colors, but the boxes are obviously fake

1989 Transformers G1 victory struggle D-309 Black Shadow Rare | eBay

    Fake

Or this high quality KO of Liokaiser
TESTRON LIOCAESAR full set transformers g1 ko lioKaesar kaiser sl-335 victory | eBay

Here´s one on ebay right now
Vintage G1 TRANSFORMERS Bootleg KO - Victory STAR SABER Action Figure HTF | eBay

Here´s one of my most priced KOs from back in the day, wich saddly as reference for this thread, was modified in the early 2000s but still needs to be shared. I dont remember seeing carded pics on the internet over the years, so if you have one, please share it here!

G2 Hero Megatron with Star Convoy head

This figure was available in Mexico, in the late 90s, made in China, you could get it in two colors, tan and green, with mismatched colored parts from what i can remember, so you could buy both and make a better looking figure. Included with the toy, was a sword and a familiar rifle. Plastic quality is excelent, but joints tolerances are a little flimsy, i need to use nail polish every couple of years on the knees. Saddly, just like Megatron, he needs some heels to better stand, oh well! design flaws

Anyway, since my figure was repainted, ill be talking about the unmodified pieces for each pic. Basically other than the camo pattern, he didnt had paint at all, so i added Optimus details, years before Takara thought to remold Megatron into Reverse Convoy

    Foto 22-05-20 15 30 00.jpg

The most obvious difference with Megatron, is the new shoulder cannon, a new head copied from Star Convoy and remolded details. I drilled holes for the cannons so they cant attach on the arms from the factory. Also the bicep joint was removed and the missile panel on the forearm

    Foto 22-05-20 15 30 15.jpg Foto 22-05-20 15 30 42.jpg Foto 22-05-20 15 30 58.jpg

My painting skills were very basic at the time, i have improved since then :)

Original camo pattern in the next couple of pics

Now, the head, as i said earlier, is Star Convoy, casted in grey, average details at best, it was unpainted, except for the crest piece, i believe had some yellow paint. Obviously i used blue paint to match any Optimus
    Foto 22-05-20 15 31 21.jpg

The rifle is a replica of Fortress Maximus, only came with one on the card. Remolded forearm cant use original missiles
    Foto 22-05-20 15 33 08.jpg

Now, i have pieces of the green version, over the years were used for to various customs, so the legs were cut... and are no longer usable, also the shoulder cannon. On the pic you can see the original paint. The thread wheels werent painted, but i sprayed silver for detailing

    Foto 22-05-20 15 34 31.jpg

A group pic with a Reverse Convoy KO, missing pieces but this one is from the movie era i think
    Foto 22-05-20 15 37 45.jpg

Now some tank mode pictures. I really love how the cannon looks, even though i doubt a scope would be needed for a tank, but is extra detail
    Foto 22-05-20 15 38 03.jpg Foto 22-05-20 15 38 16.jpg Foto 22-05-20 15 38 30.jpg

Just a comparison for the original deco

    Foto 22-05-20 15 38 58.jpg

Finally, the swords, with a lion head on both sides. I dont know if its a original mold (doubtful)
