thanks! yea everything’s marked up it seems, not just on shipping but the base price too. i’m not a fan of businesses that do that over just having it be at msrp, so we’ll see if they decide to go back to the original cost before i bite.

Do 3P companies even have a MSRP? I feel like it might work differently for them, or they may even negotiate different prices with different retailers.

 

who knows, i was more referring to the standard prices that almost etailers consistently follow such as tfsource, chosenprine, and bbts. showz reminds me of nippon-yason where they keep upping the prices of figures that’re popular. i can understand charging more for shipping bc of covid, but the price of the figure should’ve been agreed upon when they placed their orders imo, how else would they calculate their profit margins beforehand without risking a loss?

 

Usually showz is still the cheapest by a mile, even if they up the price by a few dollars (especially when comparing with the etailers you listed). I think they just try to display the cheapest price possible even if it may change in the future. Amazon does the same thing where they have the "preorder price guarantee". I guess there's no real way of knowing how the prices are set, but I think showz mentioned a couple times in their thread (they have a representative who is pretty active on the boards) that they sometimes get asked to raise the prices.

 

ahh, that makes sense. yea i’ve seen their prices be pretty good in the past, now it seems like the items i want are more inline with the other etailers, so that gives me less incentive to go with them unless it’s something only they carry.

 

Yeah unfortunately because of COVID they can't offer free shipping, which was one of their greatest strengths. But they still carry items that most other places do not, like this adorable Megatron! He's a really good and fun figure, although he does stink a bit when you first open him haha

 

funny thing is, i just decided to get rid of my kids logic super deformed prime, megatron, and starscream. i have hero hobby grimlock which is what this guy reminds me of, was tempted to get hero hobby ultra magnus too on multiple occasions. the transforming aspect on a sd figure is appealing, but not sure i want to pay upwards of $100 for him, we’ll see!

 

I got this guy last week along with fans toys Sheridan and i haven't been able to stop playing with him. He just feels so much more professionally made and designed, and the love really shines through in the end product. I don't even have a spot in my collection for SD figures but I'm all in for the rest if they maintain this quality and engineering.
The last time I felt a figure deserved this much praise was TE Optimus.

This is actually the first figure I've seen come out of 3rd party where, for $50, I have no idea how they're making a profit out of it, what with the paint, the insane packaging, and surprisingly intricate transformation.
Definitely in the top 5, if not top 3, figures of the year, and that includes figures that are still scheduled to come out (assuming they don't have any qc issues).

 

Yeah it's amazing! I've had a couple SD transformers before (herocross optimus was one) but they didn't transform. Only MasterMade is doing that and they're all citybots. This line is unique and so far really well done!

Totally agree here. He's a TON of fun and really well made! I really hope we get some more news about the Optimus they're working on soon.

I agree with these guys....he's a marvel of engineering. A lot of people are going to sleep on this figure because of current price and because it's a SD figure. It's an early top 5 figure of 2020 for me too. The transformation is bonkers! It was a STEAL at 47 bucks. If you can get for 70-75, go for it. 92 bucks is a bit much, but not outrageous for the quality.

 

I’d like to pick this little guy up, but he’s so cute I’m not sure I can have him in the house. Not with a kid who insists on that Rendsora should sleep on her pillow.

Nah, only place I see selling him is ShowZ. I think the price may have went up across the board, it was always around $70 on Ebay IIRC.

In case I’m the only one who’s done this, the hole in the sword in jet mode can sort of be used with a standard flight stand. Once you get it balanced and secure it stays really nicely!
