As long as it feels like a comic book movie and not "real world" like Nolan's since this universe is not real world.

 

I'm just glad it's not a DCEU film.

 

Serkis will be great, but man I wish Batfleck hadn’t crashed and burned so we could keep Irons. God, I could listen to him for hours.

 

Honestly, Afleck & Irons were awesome. I wished we could’ve gotten one standalone Bat movie with them in it. Or a better script for BvS & JL. This one looks great too, I’m not knocking it. But it kinda sucks to lose those two.

In fact, I think I like Irons more as Alfred than Caine, but they’re both still good.

As soon as they realize a guy with pointy little ears on his head shouldn't be taken so seriously.

Even Batman The Animated Series had colour and fun to it. It wasn't always serious.

 

Reminds me of how, for over a decade TFTM was the only Transformers media available before everything came out on dvd. And for a long time, the Optimus of TFTM became the way that a lot of people saw the character. Stoic, cranking out epic speeches, etc. They forget the dude used to shoot hoops & had a personality!

 

It's when we the consumers stop consuming darker than dark, darkman.

So, never. Not until he's Lord Gothic himself.

 

Prime wasn't a bad surfer either. I don't know if I'd call TFTM Prime 'stoic' though, certainly not compared to later iterations but I agree that if that was all you ever remembered of him or saw for years it would colour your opinion somewhat.

 

This started as a project that felt promising, but IMO it's gradually begun to feel like yet another out-of-touch DCEU movie. I'm sort of shocked they're still stuck on the "dark and gritty" trend. I would argue Batman could be darker than the other movies in the DC universe, but we don't need "The darkest Batman yet". I don't think anyone is asking for that.

So. Fucking. Dark.

 

It's so dark, you'll be able to see your own reflection on your screen. It's so dark, your face will appear where Batman's face would appear if you could see him.

It's so grim and serious, that Batman's monotone voice puts the entire audience to sleep.

That way, there are no people walking out. Brilliant, DC, just keep going into the downward spiral you've gotten yourself into, and will never get out. Keep making it darker and darker everytime, hoping for better results.

Never realize that you've driven yourselves insane doing so.

 

Sanic The Edgehog would actually probably be a better movie, to be honest.

The trailer best be the best thing ever, because at this point, I'm about ready to give up on you all together, DC.

Robert Pattinson refuses to work out for Batman role because he doesn't want to 'set a precedent'

Well this really is pretty stupid. You're playing Batman, a character that supposed to be the peak of what a human can be physically and mentally. That is part of what makes the character so compelling is seeing this human with no powers push himself to the peak. Then you have this actor go working out is part of the problem. What a snobby douche getting paid millions of dollars to be Batman and can't even committee to the role. Instead he just acting like getting in shape for a role is the problem. Yea why become a healthier version of yourself when you can just refuse to because people in the 1970s didn't. That is some sound logic. Well guess what back in the 1970s being in shape was not even popular. Going to a gym and working out was seen as odd back then until Arnold Schwarzenegger and others popularized fitness on a more mainstream level. I am not saying he or anyone needs to jack up to a bodybuilding level but if your going to be Batman at least get yourself to 185-200 pounds and look good enough where the film crew can make you standout. But no he would just be adding to the problem of setting a precedent. Well Bale and Affleck have already done that so now it seems we are moving backwards to the Keaton, Kilmer, Clooney days and although I enjoy Keaton and even Kilmer even though they were not in the most impressive shape we should be moving forward and pushing what can be done for a character not settling for regression. We have had Bale and Affleck for Batman then other actors in other roles such as Hemsworth and Amell it is going to be a setback seeing an actor not put in the hard work and effort that these guys did for their roles. Not every superhero needs to even be in insane shape. I do not need a jacked Ironman, Flash, or Atom because physique is not a major part to their character. Batman's physicality and his physical ability is a part of that character just like his intellect and to not want to do that part of the character service in this day and age where the actor easily have the resources to do so just because "it be part of the problem" makes him come off a pretentious snob.

 

Yea, how dare he be so snobbish that he refuses to change his entire life around a single role.

They're actors, not body builders.

 

That logic is baffling. I see nothing wrong with working out for a superhero role. If he were portraying an everyday Joe, I could get wanting to have an everyday physique. But Batman himself would work out because he needs to be strong to fight and climb and whatnot. It would be like refusing to get in shape to play an athlete or something. It's just part of the role.

And I don't like his attitude here either. Even if this is a creative decision he feels is important, he's not being very tactful in his wording. Bragging about ignoring fitness instructions, calling other actors who work out "part of the problem". It all comes across as pretentious, like he thinks he's 'above' working out of something.

Part of being an actor is looking the part. And working out for roles is standard in this industry, it's not like he's being asked to do anything outrageous or unheard of. And having this "greater than thou" attitude about it makes him seem extra snobbish.

And he doesn't have to work out to body-builder levels. He just needs to bulk up a bit. I actually don't want a big bruiser Batman. Chris Pratt took himself from being chubby to being extremely fit for Guardians of the Galaxy, without even being asked to. If he can do that, I'm pretty sure this guy can follow his fitness instructions.

 

Did you miss the part where I said he does not need to be a bodybuilder because I said that in the post. But he should be in a shape where he believable in the role because part of being an actor is looking the part.

As TheSoundwave said he doe not need to be a big bruiser but he should at least have a solid fit look.
