I loved reading through the update yesterday. Informative enough and funny.

I couldn't give two shits about the box. Sure something like the barge would be nice but the box is going to have to be broken down and thrown into storage somewhere anyway so its not like I'd have anywhere to display a piece of carboard that massive.

Funniest thing would be them making a flashy box, and nothing happens.

For sure, but this sort of innocent update to a massive project is the appealing part. It makes it feel normal, you know.

This. Its a fun little thing that also puts a smile in the face of the harsh reality the whole world is facing now..

It is the shipping box. There most likely will be a "pretty box" inside the shipping box. The shipping box will take the abuse so the "pretty box" stays pretty. They usually go a step further with crowd funded projects as a thank you for putting our faith in them to produce a badass thing. The standard production run, if they do one, will be a simplified box and most likely not as many, if any extra accessories; they are rewarding the crowd funders for the faith put in them. Plus it would diminish the impact of the crowd funded figures by including the special stuff in the regular release. The next update in few months should have some hint at the box art I would think.

I was just about to say this. Comparing this thing to the sail barge isn't a fair comparison. That toy is almost all panels that clip together and has no need to make it transform from one thing to another. Well, I guess it transforms from a bunch of parts into a sail barge, but that's beside the point. I wonder if the storyline was dictated by whether or not this hit the crowdfunding mark? That would be interesting to know...

I'm a misb box l collector. I absolutely find the box an important part of the genre and lore.

Hopefully there will be some better box art or just art.

There will be no standard production run, we've known since during the campaign that unicron would have a selects style box, there will be no "pretty" box

but do remember they themselves call it a “Sneak peek” at the packaging. If it was just a plain brown box why is this a sneak peek? We’ve seen all sides of it.

Because it's a rendered mock-up, and not a real box. Still subject to change.

Buy her one of those cartoonishly oversized flower arrangements, like how you see at the winner's podium in horse races, and stick Unicron in the middle:

"Honey! I bought you flowers! Oh hey, how'd this weird thing get in the middle of all that? I'll just get that outta there.... Enjoy!"

I just posted my opinion and hope for something better that's all. Just to feed my G1 Transformers nostalgia with such an amazing Unicron figure. 90% of my Transformers collection is mint in box and I don't throw away my boxes as they are to me just as important as the figure inside. Look at the WFC line currently having black light reactive images. That's pretty damn Kool! To others you have your own feeling about Transformers boxes. The art and the designs are incredible on so many boxes. The hard work of the artists at Takara and Hasbro deserve that their creations be collected just as much as the figures themselves, not just be simply throw into a landfill creating more waist. But I have been a hardcore collector of Transformers for over 35 years and it's all important to me. Each to there own opinion.

...that it does, although haslab's planet-mode is definitive - not unlike azalea versus MP-51, really...

...i give haslab's robot the nod for its asymmetrical kirby krackle and surface texture, though...

Did they make it slightly bigger?
This quote here: "The Chaos Bringer really brings the whole room together. And fills the space nicely in planet mode at 33 inches tall and 37 inches wide including his ring. Without the ring he's 20 inches wide. Again, since we're still in these very early stages, all dimensions are approximate and subject to changes."
It might change but that's a bit bigger than this old statement & picture.
"Convert and bring forth the terrifying planet mode of Unicron, a stunning 30” in diameter."

I don't know just seems they took some consideration to make him bigger as per people's request.

No, I don't think he's any bigger. They min-maxed the hell out of the design before they revealed the project.

If you look carefully between that diagram and the actual toy, you see that they're just measuring the ring diameter, and that there's a number of long, horizontal spikes off the side of it that are absent. That's probably where the extra width comes from.

Just start saving up now. There's gonna be a resale market as soon as it releases. Plenty of people bought two, and a few crazy cats bought more... you'll pay late tax, but you'll definitely have the opportunity

I think they mixed up the width and height measurements in that new statement. A circle would have the same width and height, but the addition of the stand would only add to the height not the width
