Honestly, this broken toy syndrome is an epidemic in our hobby currently and isn't limited to 3rd party unfortunately. Perhaps rather than tell the companies what materials to use (hearing from buyers en masse that a particular figure broke should be message enough) just vote with your wallet next time. Some would argue, but I wants it and has to haz it, so I can't not buy their next figure. I get that and that's fine. But buyer beware in that case.

 

Almost every time there's a crazy hubbub and I have no idea what's going on I remember "oh yeah, I have Sephiroth blocked" and I feel happy about my decision  

 

Here's the thing: In the movie the robot clearly has the alt mode that DS is using. Just look at the thigh kibble. So you either have the alt mode mismatch what was on screen, or you have the alt mode mismatch the robot mode.

Given the two choices, I think it is dumber to have the alt mode mismatch the robot mode.

I'm still excited for their take on Rampage. He's lowkey my favorite constructicon design and I want a posable and detailed figure of him WITH ELBOWS. No need to deal with combined mode, I want a stand-alone Rampage for funsies.

 

However, I been researching/figuring out Longhaul's size in RotF and found out that it is possible for him, despite his size, to transform into the Catipillar 773 dump truck. But, yes, parts of Longhaul do seem to be part of the massive dump-truck that his designer had in mind for his alt-mode.

 

Same here. I’m in on a few individual bots rather than the combined mode. Sucks that there are 4 releases left before rampage arrives, but hopefully they’ll learn and improve by then.

 

I may have to switch from Show Z to TFExpress for these due to the increase in shipping which probably isn’t going away any time soon. Demolisher is cheaper there too.
Also, I’ve seen Show Z have a package deal- which I don’t remember being reported- where you can buy the whole set with a decent discount but you have to fully pay upfront. I probably would have done that if it was an option from the start but you have to buy the whole set and I already have Split.

 

I completely agree with you, although it should be pointed out that the dump truck that matches the robot mode is way bigger than the 773b that Hasbro has him transform into, making him out of scale with the other Constructicons (not that anybody cares about scale, as a properly scaled Scavenger toy would dwarf everyone else)

At least where I am, the price + shipping at TFs Express actually exceeds that of ShowZ Store. I'm having trouble reconciling my desire for the figure with its near-$150 price tag right now, so my plan at this point is to wait out this virus thing until one of them brings down the shipping.

Precisely why I have no love for the new SS version--even if it got oversized. To have an accurate robot and truck mode, you have to have fake parts from a completely different truck mode on the bot..because that's how he is in the movie. Because of the decisions that lead to a different truck being used after the bot was designed (I had always assumed). The truck being accurate was never a thing to me. Far as I'm concerned, there were two of them just like in the movie. The "Long Haul" that combined into Devastator transformed into a robot that had his accurate truck parts (and we never saw him), and the bot that looks like Long Haul in the battle turned into the truck his particular parts indicate. And that's the one I want.
